Saturday 9....Da Doo Ron Ron

Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's Saturday 9.  You can join the fun HERE!!

Da Doo Ron Ron

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here are today's questions!

Saturday 9: Da Doo Ron Ron (1977)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song begins by stating that he met her on a Monday and his heart stood still. How did your past week start? Fast!  It may be a lot to expect you to report that you met someone who made your heart stand still, but did anything noteworthy occur?  Nothing really note-worthy happened but we have had a busy week and it has sped by!

2) While making hit records, Shaun Cassidy also starred as Joe Hardy on theHardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books have been popular with generations of American kids. Were you a fan?  I LOVED Nancy Drew Mysteries and had 52 of them in my collection by the time I was 15 years old. I also enjoyed The Hardy Boys and watched it on TV. Good stuff!

3) Shaun went to Beverly Hills High School. Over the decades, BHHS has had many good football teams. Do you remember what sports your school excelled at?  My school had an award-winning football team my sophomore year. They had a perfect season of 10-0 and no one scored on them. Not one point in 10 games. It was an exciting time at Millersport High!

4) Shaun followed his older half-brother, David Cassidy, into TV/records/teen stardom. Do you have siblings?  Yes.  If yes, what career paths did they follow?  My brother was a very successful entrepreneur with his own business.  Both of my sisters (and my sister-in-law) are/were teachers.  My brother and sister, Patti, are Ohio University grads; my sister Tammy is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

5) His middle name is Paul, after his maternal grandfather. Tell us something about one of your grandparents.  My Pawpaw Kelly was a farmer and I remember times on the farm.  When they sold the farm and moved into town, he went to work for the county, mowing along the roadsides - still on a tractor!  He did that into his 70s.

6) Shaun's mother, actress Shirley Jones, reports that he was more than 3 weeks late and born by Cesarean. Have you heard family legends about your arrival into the world?  Oh yes. I was born on December 11, 1951, in the middle of a blizzard. When my mom started having labor pains, the doctor told her (by phone) to get out and walk. That meant boots, coats, gloves, scarves.... When I finally arrived (Fayette County Memorial Hospital), I came out face first and that caused blood in my spinal fluid so I was whisked away to Children's Hospital in Columbus for the first three days of my life.  I was told that my dad and grandma went to pick me up, still with lots of snow on the ground, and when dad got me home and put me in mom's arms she was so excited that I had a wet diaper so she could change it for me.  How's that for a grand entrance? LOL  I've heard the story many times, mostly from my grandma.

7) "Da Doo Ron Ron" was originally recorded by The Crystals. Can you think of another song that has been a hit by more than one artist? How about "The Look of Love"..... Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach, Isaac Hayes, Diana Krall, and I think Herb Alpert did it too.

8) In 1977, when this version of "Da Doo Ron Ron" was popular, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak incorporated Apple. Are you Mac or Android?  Droid all the way!

9) Random Question: You're exhausted. You collapse into bed and are about to drift into slumber when you hear the drip-drip-drip of the bathroom faucet. Would you kick off the covers and go turn it off? Or would you stay in bed, letting it drip until morning?  I would definitely get up and fix it.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Saturday!  Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs.

I loved that song, Da Do Ron Ron. Everyone in my school had that record. (People under 40: what's a record?)

  4. I saw Shirley Jones in person at the Colorado Springs airport years ago. She was claiming her luggage and then going to be in a show in town.

As for the drippy faucet, yes, I'd get up and turn it off.

Have a good weekend, with no drippy faucets!

  5. You lucky girl owning all those Nancy Drew books! What an exciting entrance into the world, Teri. Bless your mama's heart having to get out and walk in that blizzard. And I too would get up for the faucet.

    1. I quit linking up because of some nasty comments (probably a year ago). I should link up and give it a go again. Not sure who that person was, but she was not nice.

  6. My maternal grandpa was a farmer, too! (In SW Minnesota)

Gosh, that's some birth story! Frightening, for sure. I'd venture, that Christmas was especially blessed, having you back home and most importantly, healthy!

  9. My grandparents had a farm, and so did my mom. It was the best time growing up to help my mother with her work.
