Friday Foto Friends.....

I am linking up with Deb at Breathing In Grace for her Friday Foto Friends.....

I still have a few photos to share from our trip to Ohio.  My sister, Patti, lives in McConnelsville, Ohio.  It is a pretty, small town (with lots more than one traffic light).  They are known for having the smallest Kroger grocery store in the nation (maybe the world).

(That's my sis walking into the store....)

.....and I got this video from YouTube telling you about the smallest Kroger:

Patti said they also have the (or one of the) smallest free-standing McDonalds, so we had to drive by there so I could take a picture...

There is a store in town there called Jo-Ads and we love to pop in when we are visiting.  It is run by Mennonites and they just have the best of everything!  I bought apple butter, candies, soup mixes... just yummy goodies on every shelf.  The other side of the store is hand-made wooden furniture that is also wonderful.  I didn't take a photo of it this trip but found this one with a Google search....

If you are ever in the central/southeastern part of Ohio (south of Zanesville and north of Marietta) drive through the picturesque McConnelsville. It is located on the banks of the Muskingham River, too. Stop in the Chatterbox for lunch or dinner! Small town goodness!!

Thanks for your visit today!  Happy Friday!  Peace & hugs.

  1. We vacationed in this area several years, mostly taking pictures of the many covered bridges, and visiting Hocking Hills, and Salt Fork state parks. We were in McConnelsville one day, lovely town, enjoyed the statue of the children reading. We often said, hope not too many people find out how beautiful it is here. I know Ohio is joked about nothing there, if they only knew, lol. Thanks for the posts, brought back wonderful memories, made me smile!

  4. Near my MIL's house there is a teeny McDonalds. I think it has 6 tables. If there is more than 2 people in line they are waiting outside. lol
Mennonite store sounds interesting. I have never been to a Kroger's but I have heard of them.
    Have a great day!

  5. I am very partial to small towns, and would love to visit where your sister lives. I wish we still had Krogers, but they are long gone from here. Happy Friday to you and Joe.

  7. I loved this post. Tiny stores! Just so cute.
I went to school in southeastern Ohio at Ohio U. in Athens, but never got to McConnelsville. I think McConnelsville is about an hour to the north.

    1. Yes. You are right. My sister and my brother, my sister-in-law and two nieces are OU grads. There are lots of Bobcats in the family!

  8. I like little towns, especiallyy when they have a Chatterbox Cafe! Who would ever know about the smallest Kroger or McDonald's. Too cute! We have a huge Kroger Marketplace by us and I love it, although it's weird to me to have a jewelry store in the grocery store. I think I would like Jo-Ads. We stopped at an Amish store in Oklahoma and bought a lot of things, too.
