It's a Silent Night Saturday 9.....

Thanks to Samantha (Crazy Sam) for this week's Saturday 9!  Click on the button above to visit the Saturday 9 and join in on this weekly meme!

O, Holy Night

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: O, Holy Night (1967)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This beloved carol takes its lyrics from a French poem. What else can we thank the French for?  Champagne.

2) How well do you know  "O, Holy Night?" Without looking up the lyrics, could you sing along with Ella?  The first couple of verses, yes, but not through the entire song.

3) In order to get this record into stores in time for Christmas 1967, Ella had to record this in late July. So let's reverse that. Now that it's Christmastime, what do you miss most about summer?  I don't miss Florida summer at all.  This is the perfect time of year to be in Florida!

4) Sam is crazy about the open toed pumps she'll be wearing to holiday parties, but that means she needs to get a pedi. Will you be at a salon between now and year-end?  Nope. I don't do pedicures anymore since I was in the hospital with an infection from one several years ago. (It was a spa and the foot tub was sanitized after each use - supposedly.)  I go for a manicure before the Museum's black-tie Gala event each year, and that's it.

5) Will you be consuming any eggnog this holiday season?  No! And if you do, will it be spiked?  Joe LOVES eggnog, so it has been a staple in our refrigerator since the stores began carrying it (before Thanksgiving).  He doesn't spike his.  I can't even stand the smell of eggnog.

6) Thinking of holiday cuisine, what's your favorite Christmas cookie?  Those little sugar covered balls of deliciousness that melt in your mouth - Italian Wedding Cookies.  I also enjoy dunkers - like shortbread or just a plain sugar cookie.

7) Sam knows she will get a bottle of red wine from her boss, because that's what he gives his staff every year. Is there a gift you can count on receiving?  Nam's cookies (SO addictive!) from our insurance broker (at the Museum) and my annual Page-a-Day cat calendar that Joe gets for me every year.

8) What one gift would you most like to receive this year?  There is not a thing on my list, but I hope I get a 2017 cat calendar.  Do you think anyone will get it for you?  Joe will, I'm sure.

9) This time of year is big for charitable fundraising. Here's your chance to plug a cause or organization that's near and dear to you.  I can only plug the amazing Museum where I work!!  You can join or donate through our webpage:

I support our church, but also worthy of mention is a beautiful organization here in Lakeland called VISTE (Volunteers In Service To The Elderly).  Check them out here:  http://viste.org/

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for your visit today!  Happy weekend!!  We are in Naples with our grands (at least one of them).  More about that on Monday's Recap!  Peace & hugs!

  2. I am with Joe, Egg Nog is in our fridge from day one when it goes on the shelves. Also Boiled Custard...ever tried that? My grandmother made it 'back when' and it always reminds me of her. I am not expecting anything for Christmas. Jim and I dont exchange gifts...we give to the church and the grandkids instead. Enjoy your time in Naples and cant wait to hear about it. Happy weekend.

  3. Museums are such a worthy cause! I recently had a disagreement with my boss about this. We were doing a direct mail piece about charitable giving and he kept referring to it as, "giving to the less fortunate." I wanted to say, "doing some good." It's important to support museums and public television and the symphony! (Though to be honest, I wouldn't go to the symphony on a bet. But that's not the point, is it?)

    1. Hope you won!! You are so right. So many people think museums are rolling in money. Not true. We need the support of all who love the arts (or history)! Thank you!

  5. I'm with your Hubby, I love eggnog! It's one of my favorite things during this time of year. I know, it's fattening, but most good foods are. Florida is nice when it's not summer, just like here. I really dislike summer. ~:)

  9. I can't think of a single thing to miss about summer ... either in Florida or Arizona.

Eggnog? I'm in Joe's corner (sorry!) on this one. Tradition since I was a little girl, being handed an inaugural pint of that deliciousness in a cup to sip and savor.

Hope you get that same kitty calendar I was laughing over in Barnes and Noble a few days ago!
