Linking up with Deb, over at Breathing In Grace, for Friday Foto Friends! Join us for this Friday fun! Just post a picture or a few and share with us the story behind them.
I posted this photo on Facebook earlier this week. It was a very foggy morning on my way to work. There is a lake under all that fog! Fog always makes me think of Chiller Theater, which was a late night movie marathon on Friday nights, back when I was in my early-mid teens. It was a right of passage to have a slumber party and stay up for both horror movies! The opening dialog is below and I still remember the sound of the voice behind the words!!
"Out from the swirling mists of the endless unknown, from the dark forbidden depths of man's imagination, creeps the formless fears and nameless terrors of ages beyond measure. To be transfixed for the moment on the macabre stage of CHILLER THEATER!"
Lots of memories and fun!! Our house was very near our town's cemetery and when we really felt brave, we would walk through the cemetery after watching Chiller Theater! Those were the days!!
This is a foggy picture of the mini-mansion being built on Lake Hollingsworth Drive. They took the scaffolding down! It looked like they were working on landscaping yesterday when I came home from work. I'll get some more photos when they take that fencing down.
Today is our staff Christmas luncheon. We had some budget cuts and our out-of-the-building Christmas party with our families included is not in this year's budget. Our boss is treating us to lunch this year and we will have a Christmas movie (I think it's Home Alone) playing on the big screen during our get-together. It should still be fun. Our staff is like family. We all care about each other and all but two of us will be there. Unfortunately, there were eight people missing from this photo, but I still love it! We had fun posing....
That's all I have for this Friday's Foto meme. Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs and happy Friday!

That mansion is 'something else' for sure. I remember scary movie times when I was growing up too, but being the big chicken I am, I never watched them..lol Enjoy the party today.
ReplyDeleteNice picture of y'all. Too bad it wasn't a full crew.
ReplyDeleteIn Jacksonville, FL, we had "Saturday Up All Night". And then there was one with Elvira "Mistress Of The Dark" (https://www.elvira.com/). Remember her? Those where entertaining. I like scary movies that aren't gory. It's fun to sit and make snarky remarks like on MST3K.
That mansion is really coming along. It's also proof that just 'cause someone has money, doesn't mean they have good taste. *wink* ~:)
Yes, I remember Elvira! The old black & white "horror" movies were actually funny - especially now, looking back. I thought vampires were real and wore a cross necklace to bed every night. Long before vampires were fashionable. LOL
DeleteHave fun at your luncheon...we were discussing Home Alone last night...the guys seem to believe that is not a Christmas movie, giggling. They think Diehard is...sigh...boys, what do they know?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day friend...we must get out to do shopping here today...icy, snowy, bitter cold.
Old horror movies are great. I grew up watching them. I loved them then and still do.
ReplyDeleteThe mansion is beautiful.
Have a fun lunch!
That is a fabulous group pic. I guess this will be a memorable staff Christmas party for you since it will be your last one with the museum. That is too funny your memory of the horror movies. Our narration and intro for those movies was from a lady named Elvira - very slinky, sexy type. Kind of similar to the woman on Adams Family.
ReplyDeleteEeeerie stuff...Ha ha! I am not a big fan of horror movies...although I have watched a few in my time...but sometimes life is too horrific already...(not mine, but life in general in the world) so I feel like watching the news is bad enough! On a more cheery, not eeerie note, Looks like your office staff is really a great group...Staff lunch sounds like it was fun with a movie, etc. Now that I am retired, I miss that outside world camaraderie...but I don't miss working! LOL. Looking forward to seeing the "mansion" when it is done! Maybe you can sneak a peek inside sometime. If you are brave enough to watch horror movies, you ought to be brave enough to do that! LOL!!! (Just don't get caught for trespassing!) Have a blessed weekend my friend!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember Chiller Theater. Zacherle the cool ghoul was the earliest host of the show.
ReplyDeleteIt played on WPIX in New York City.
NJ hosts an annual convention for the show to this day!
Fritz! Such a sweetheart. Still around, too. Love that posed picture of the staff. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I not recall Chiller Theater? Rod Serling's Twilight Zone, yes; but 'wonder if CT wasn't broadcast in New Mexico.
ReplyDeleteHope your holiday luncheon was great fun?! I recall other times and places when colleagues felt like family.
I loved scary movies when I was young.....not so much in my old age...LOL! Looks like you had a really nice CHRISTmas lunch with your friends. I can't believe Christmas is next weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love foggy photos! That is quite the mansion!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great time at your lunch. Have a fun weekend!
I never did and still do not like scary movies! I do love foggy pictures though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun group of co-workers! I bet they're really going to miss you when you retire - and you them!
That is quite a house!!! Fun watching it come together. Your luncheon sounds like fun, it is good you all get along well. Makes work much more enjoyable. Have a wonderful Christmas. Hugs, lJ
ReplyDeleteWow, hardly anyone I know remembers Chiller Theater. One of my favorites on Friday nights as a kid. We really have been getting some fog this past week haven't we?
