Saturday we got to sleep late, which is my favorite thing to do after a busy week. When we got up and got going, we went to Walmart to order my new glasses. Had a couple of other purchases to make while there. While we were out and about, we also went to Publix and then decided to get Mexican for an early supper. It was good!!
Sunday morning, the alarm was set so we could get to church at 8:00. Joe wasn't feeling well. He was coughing and said he thought he was catching a cold so I went by myself. I had committed to helping to sell pecans and cashews after Mass. It's an annual fundraiser for my women's group. We sold about four cases at just the first Mass of the day. We're selling next week too. I bought some for us and will be using some of the pecans for Thanksgiving baking! I always give my friend Helen a bag of the pecans, too.
When I finished there, I ran by Publix again, for more cold medicine. When I got home, Joe was actually feeling a little better, but not well enough to try going to that open house we heard about. There will be others. I got us some breakfast and we read the Sunday paper. We watched some football and were happy that the Eagles won!!
After getting the laundry started, I put on a pot of chili, made some cornbread, and cooked some apples for applesauce. I also baked a couple of small spaghetti squash to have later this week.
No recipe...I just throw it together.
From my church women's cookbook.
No recipe. Just cinnamon, sugar and apples cooked down.
Our son, Jeff, used the cutest avatar in a text message that looked just like him. I asked him how he did it and he told me it is bitmoji.com. So much fun!!
I also found this cute little ditty.... now I've said the first part for as long as I can remember, but I had never seen the rest of the verse...
Have any of you seen this entire thing before?
Not a very exciting weekend but....
Thanks for your visit!! Wishing you a good week ahead! Peace & hugs.

So sorry to hear your husband isn't feeling well. My husband, Joe, has the same thing. Maybe it's the name? Ha, ha!
ReplyDeleteThose little avatars are just too cute. I'm going to check out the site.
Your dinner looks really good. You're making me hungry.
Have a good Monday!
I love bitmoji. They are always updating it with new pics all the time too.
ReplyDeleteMmmm chili + cornbread. Looks yummy.
Hope Joe is feeling better.
Those avatars are awesome...gonna check that out! I love chili...and cornbread....and apples! ;-) I can sympathize with Mr. Joe...I'm coughing, too. Wildfires in this area, plus mulching leaves last Thursday, plus being out in the early morning and evening air...all equal cough! HOPE you have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteHope Joe's feeling better. The little ditty's were cute, some I've heard, some I haven't. Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteHope Joe is better this morning. The chili and cornbread are 'right down my alley' and look so good. Had never heard the rest of the ditty either...cute. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that avatar. I need to go play with it now.
ReplyDelete....mmm....cornbread. I am craving it now.
Chili, cornbread and avatars? Looks like my Saturday plans are all set! :)
ReplyDeleteNo, I'd never seen the rest of the farewell ditty before! Hope Joe's feeling lots better today ... and you don't catch whatever's going around!
Hope Joe is ok this morning. So many people here are having respiratory issues due to the smoke. Chili and cornbread is always good for a cold. That chili will open up air passages.:)
ReplyDeleteI hope joe is feeling better now. Apples and cinnamon. I need to remember that since I have some extra apples in the fridge. The chili and cornbread sound good too. I have never seen the whole ditty before. I'm saving it.
ReplyDelete(Did you ever receive the free blue apron meal?)
No to the Blue Apron meal. Joe is such a picky eater, I decided it wouldn't be worth it for us. The meals look and sound delicious though!
DeleteSo sorry Joe is not feeling well. I think it's wise to stay home and not spread the germs, plus it can always get worse if not cared for. The cornbread and soup should help put things right. Hope he's better today.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was more to the verse. Later alligator ... *lol* ~:)
Hope your hubby is feeling better today. Colds are no fun. Your weekend sounded pretty busy and good. We love chili, cornbread,...and I love homemade applesauce...we like to eat it over biscuits for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have never heard that complete ditty about see ya later alligator...that is really funny! Thanks for sharing! I'll never be able to say that whole thing, however!
Terri, that bitmoji is SO cute!!! Made me giggle! And wow are you productive! Have you figured out what you'll do after you retire and don't have constraints on your time? You get so much accomplished! If I were there I'd buy the pecans from you. They're my favorite!! xo
ReplyDeleteSounds like a super weekend. Glad to hear the Eagles won. Hope hubby is on the mend!
ReplyDeleteTerri, I hope your husband is feeling all better soon. Oh Chili!! I do love chili first, second, and third day! A perfect meal for this time of year. ♥
ReplyDeletePraying Joe is feeling better today! I like your avatars - fun!
ReplyDeleteWell it's Thursday now for me so I know Joe is feeling better so that's good. I love a quiet weekend sometimes. But it's good when the family are here too.
