Weekend Recap on Monday....

My (our) weekend was restorative for the most part.

Friday we were able to get out and run errands after sleeping in until 8:00ish. We got my car washed and cleaned out at the carwash, then we went to Publix for groceries.

Saturday we slept even later and then ran down to Walmart for a few more things. I also went to the vision center there, to look at glasses frames.  I got my eyes examined last week and there was enough of a change to warrant new lenses.  My vision insurance pays for a frame each year so I am happy for a change!!  I'll go back next week and give them my prescription. I didn't want to mess with it on Saturday - still too tired.  We also stopped at a Farmer's Market near Walmart. It isn't as good as the one downtown on Saturdays but we got some nice tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and corn. Yum.

Sunday found us sleeping late again, taking our time with the Sunday paper, getting the laundry started and watching some football on TV.  Unfortunately, the Eagles lost in the last few minutes of the game.

I have to confess that we started watching season one of The Walking Dead.  Several of my blogging and Facebook friends are hooked on it, so I told Joe we needed to see what it is about. Well, we are hooked and are halfway through season two already.  Good grief.  It is frightening, sickening and totally addictive.

Last night, we received a phone call from our niece, Lisa.  She had bad news for us.  Joe's older brother's wife, Joan, has been diagnosed with cancer. They aren't sure what kind but will do a biopsy on Wednesday. All they know is that it has spread throughout her body and she probably doesn't have much time. We are saddened and shocked. She has always been such a strong woman. I will ask for your prayers for her, please.  Joan D'Orsaneo, wife of Lou.  Thank you to my prayer warrior partners.

Lou, Lisa, and Joan

Back to work today.  Seems like I've been gone a month instead of just a week.  I wish you all a good week ahead and appreciate your visit.  I will have a throwback Tuesday post tomorrow with some new old photos to share.  Peace & hugs!

  3. I don't watch TWD. So many of my friends do and post about it all the time.
Your family is in my thoughts.

  4. I'm so sorry about Ms. Joan's cancer diagnoses. Prayers for her and all of your family. HOPE your work week isn't too hectic. This crazy time change has me all discombobulated. Change is hard on an old woman. ;-)

  5. I am so sorry to hear about Joan's illness. Praying for her and all the family, as cancer affects everyone connected. May the Lord give her strength and courage as she faces these difficult days. So glad you are back home and being refreshed and restored from your trip. Time change always affects me, regardless of whichever way it goes...forward or backward. Takes me a week to get back in the groove. LOL. Have a blessed week. Prayers going up for all of you.

  6. Sad news about your sister-in-law, I've always wondered why, in this world of knowledge, a cure for cancer hasn't been found. We took our car into simonize and had it washed and the interior cleaned, only for the rain to mess it up a few days later! Oh well, Mr D said we traded the old layer of dirt for a new layer!

  9. We have a new Farmers Market here. They are a great place to buy produce for a fraction of the cost of a grocery store.
So so sorry to hear about Joan's sudden passing. We had a friend that went that quickly from Stage 4 cancer. We just never know, do we. Prayers for you all during this difficult time.
If it's not inappropriate, there's a video I wanted to share. I don't know where this priest lives but I do agree with his assessment of our country.

    1. Sparky, I've watched that video and I just watched it again because it is excellent. It is definitely not inappropriate, but is rather totally appropriate for our times. I would recommend it to everyone!

  10. Oh!, I was just about to comment when I saw your update... now, I'm covered in chill-bumps.
Ironic, but blog-friend Mary (Pile of Smiles) posted just yesterday about her BF's hubby's waning cancer battle, She wrote, "Death, the ultimate healing."

I'm holding your Lou and Lisa in my prayers. May Joan's memory be a blessing.
