Wednesday Hodgepodge Time!

Thanks to Joyce for another fun Hodgepodge!!  Click on the HP button to visit her and join in the fun!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 271

1. It's officially summer (in the northern hemisphere anyway). Which summer month is best and why?  Let's see, I live in Florida.  Our best month is October.  Summer brings mega heat and humidity.

2. Can you swim?  Yes, I can.  How did you learn?   Summers full of swimming lessons, from tadpole all the way through to a qualified lifeguard.  June 27th is National Sunglasses Day. How many pair do you own?  One, and they fit over my regular glasses, but are somewhat fashionable rather than clunky.

3. What characteristic do you judge most harshly in yourself?  My weight.  How about in others?  I try not to judge others, but DO make judgements when I see boys with their pants hanging over their butts or girls inappropriately showing too much skin.

4. Robert Frost wrote the now well known poem entitled The Road Not Taken. What's a road (literal or figurative) you've always wanted to travel, and where do you hope it takes you?  I have no idea how to answer this one.  I have no regrets, for which I am thankful, and have always just followed the path that has been put in front of me.  God has been so good to me.

5. Popsicles-yay or nay?  How about yay & nay?   If you answered yay, what's your favorite flavor?  I like them okay (cherry is my favorite) but I don't buy them anymore.

6. Brexit-on a scale of 1-10 how knowledgeable are you on what's involved here?  Probably just a 5 0r 6.  (1=very knowledgeable and 10=what's Brexit) Is this news you'll follow or is it something you think won't impact your life in any way shape or form?  I'll follow it, but not aggressively.  I believe it will impact all of us in some way, but I also think we just need to Be Calm and Carry On.

7. Share a favorite song on your summer playlist.  I just listen to the oldies station when I'm in the car.  No playlist.

8. Insert your own random thought here.  Just a reflection from our little mini-vacation last week.  I am so blessed to be part of a loving and FUN family and extended family!!  Generous, caring and respectful.  It wouldn't matter where we gather...a beautiful beach house or camped out somewhere remote. We would still have fun. We would still eat well and we would laugh until our tummies hurt. And I speak of my immediate family as well as Joe's side (my in-laws). I am so blessed and do not take it for granted.  Love.

Thanks for your visit today!!  Peace & hugs.

  1. I agree with you that being part of an extended family is definitely a blessing. I also like your thought on Brexit. I'm trying to keep calm but how we shall carry on is a large unknown. Hope your week is going well :)

  2. You are very blessed to have such a family. I come from a very small family and we are scattered far and wide and with the older folks now gone, we are not close at all any longer. My husband comes from a large family, but they, at times, have been very hurtful so he prefers to keep his distance now and we rarely participate in large family gatherings. Treasure your family.

  3. You are blessed to have a large family, both on your side and Joe's side. I have Jim, my 3 children and their children...that's it. I enjoy hearing about your adventures with your family. Not sure how Brexit is going to effect the rest of the world...it is a wait and see. Happy Wednesday.

  7. It sounds like your beach trip was a success :) Family vacation gatherings are great. I miss those.

I'm a fan of the oldies, too, and usually keep the car tuned to the 70's or 60's.

  8. My weight is one of mine too. And I don't like pants worn like that either. I've finally got my post written about meeting you and Joe! It's the first fun thing about summer for us. :) Glad your trip was a good one and that your travels got you back safe and sound!

  10. I feel like you about my family and in-law family too. I know people struggling with a lot of family drama and am so thankful we all speak to each other and love one another. Enjoy the 4th!

  12. Your family get-togethers do sound wonderful. So nice to have family that's not at each other's throats! I know what you mean about laughing. Isn't it great to visit and just have s fun time!!

  13. The droopy pants thing drives us mad, too. There are a few stores here that refuse to serve folks that have the pants like that. I know what they say is the reason for them dressing like that and that isn't a good thing either. Some things should just be kept private.

If it is a body part that is considered a "no-no zone", nobody else needs to be seeing it! I can't wait for modesty to be in style again.

I think that it is wonderful that you have a happy family that loves to spend time together. What a blessing!

    Have a blessed day. :)

  14. It is always great to have a loving family. On the other extreme, family will do things to you that other people would never dream of doing.

It is hot in Texas too most of the time. There is no such thing as fall here like there was back in South Carolina. Here the leaves fall off the trees in the Spring to make way for the new leaves.

    Have a great summer.

  15. Love your answers to #'s 3 and 4. (Well, all of them actually ... but those resonated.)
Your new blue background looks a lot like my mother's favorite placemats! :)
