It's Hodgepodge Time!

Join the Hodgepodgers by visiting Joyce's blog, From This Side of the Pond.  It's lots of fun each week!! Thanks, Joyce!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 268

1. Tell us about one fun thing on your June calendar.  We will be going to Folly Beach, South Carolina, for a few days in June!  Family time!

2. How careful are you in the sun? VERY!  Do you tan or burn?  Burn.  Do you make it a point to see the dermatologist every year?  No, but my regular doc gives me a check.

3. Describe a time when you wanted to 'throw in the towel'?  Several times, and back in 1993ish I tossed in the towel when I got out of food service and back into an office.  Food service is unforgiving and HARD work...especially if you are doing it all alone.

4. What's a song you love that has a day of the week in the title or lyrics?  The first one I thought of was "Monday, Monday" by the Mamas & Papas - but it isn't necessarily a favorite. I do think I know all the words though.

5. Are you a fan of berries?  Yes. Which one's your favorite?  Blackberries. What's the most recent berry dish you've eaten? Just some fresh strawberries.  Which blueberry breakfast food appeals to you most-blueberry pancakes, blueberry yogurt, or a blueberry muffin?  I'm not a big blueberry fan so none of those really appeals to me.

6. What's something you want to do before your next birthday?  It will be the big 65, so I guess I'll need to be signed up for medicare.  The phone rings everyday with someone trying to sell me supplemental insurance.

7. June 1st is National Say Something Nice Day, so let's all say something nice here.  Joyce, I think you are pretty amazing!  You are building a new home, have two daughters and a son-in-law to keep up with, have a pretty terrific husband and you still find time to blog and give us a weekly Hodgepodge.  Amazing lady! Thank you!

8. Insert your own random thought here.  Y'all are probably tired of me whining, but I am still coughing and blowing and can't smell or taste yet.  This ridiculous cold sure whacked me over the head. Nine days and counting.  Enough!!  I did okay at work, but would rather have been home with my feet up....

Thanks for getting this far!!  I always appreciate your visits.  Can you believe it's June already?  Peace & hugs, friends.

  1. Sounds like you might need to visit a doctor...don't want to get pneumonia. Hope today is much better! Happy Wednesday!

    1. I went to the clinic. It hasn't settled in my lungs. I've had the latest pneumonia shot. It is mostly in my sinuses, but not an infection. Just darn aggravating!!

  2. You are so right about how hard it is to work in food service. Sometimes even the nicest of people can be ornery when it comes to particulars about their food. I'm referring to waitressing, which, blessedly, I've not done in well over 40 years. And then there's all the heavy dishes and the clean-up.

    1. I was owner and operator of a small bakery for four years "The Wedding Cake". Rewarding, but a ridiculous drain on my energy and body.

  4. Sunday Morning Coming Down is the only other song I can think of that has a day in it Terri. That was a hard one. I am headed to the dermatologist on Monday to get a check up. I am fair skinned as well and I need to be vigilant.

  7. The tune to Monday, Monday is very catchy...once I get it in my head it plays over and over. I agree with Deb, maybe it's time to see a doctor. Take care my friend!

  8. Monday, Monday, can't trust my memory for all the words to that song. They had some really good hits, but that wasn't one of my favorite. I'm sorry you are still suffering. You are very blessed to have so much family time.
I've never worked in food service, but just cooking and baking here at home, I can know it wouldn't do for me to be in food service! Haha! Takes a lot of energy.

  9. No I can't believe it's June already...the year is flying by! How fun that you will be going to Folly Beach! Are you all renting a beach house like you did a few years ago? I sure hope you get some relief from this nasty cold you have!

  12. Hey, sorry it's been so long since I dropped by...
I hope you are well, soon, and enjoying family time at Folley Beach :)
Now that I know you like blackberries, I'll think of you when picking mine. Thank goodness they're the thornless kind!

  14. Immediately I thought of "Monday, Monday" as well!

I should have guessed by the photos of your cakes, etc. you enjoyed(?) a background in food service. That's a gift, for sure.
