Tuesday Tidbits....

  • Back to work after Gala weekend.  It always seems like there is more to do, to clean up, than there is to make it all pretty.  Probably because there is a committee to help with decorations, but clean-up falls to staff.  It's good that most everyone else is younger than me. I got a pass...I'm old(er) and have bad knees. This was also my 18th Gala, and for 15 of them (at least) I did help with clean-up. Still felt kind of guilty staying in my office this morning.
  • I had the afternoon off, because Joe had an appointment with his local cardiologist. Dr. Owen is also my cardiologist. We like him and trust him.  Joe is still in AFib, which we knew.  They are going to do the cardio-conversion on Wednesday. Dr. Owen says the sooner, the better. So, I will ask for your prayers that the conversion goes well and that it holds his heart in normal rhythm.  The procedure itself will only take 4 or 5 minutes, but they will put Joe under (lightly). It will be done at the hospital as an out-patient.
  • My sister, Tammy, and her husband Bruce are coming for a visit this weekend!  Many of you have been praying for Bruce, who had a massive stroke a year ago Christmas week. He is still struggling and in rehab, but has made great progress. It will be good to see them.  Your prayers have been heard. He had only a 25% chance of survival but has beat the odds.
  • Joe has been released by both the physical therapist and the speech therapist!!  He will still be working with Alice, the occupational therapist, for a few more weeks.  Extra sessions were approved by the insurance company. This is great news.  Joe is making good progress with his hand and has a bit of a grip back.  His thumb is the biggest challenge right now, but we are sure it will start getting signals soon. The therapy supervisor, Lowell, believes Joe can get back 100% use of his hand. We are thrilled at the news and hopeful. Again, your prayers are welcome and appreciated!!

Thanks for your visit!  Happy March....Spring is coming!  Peace & hugs.

  5. I'm so glad to read all your good reports, and will keep your husband in my prayers as he has this next procedure. My sister's father in-law recently had a massive stroke they did not expect him to survive. He has a long road ahead, but so far is doing far better than expected. I'm happy to hear your brother in law will be visiting and know you'll enjoy that time together.

  8. This post is full of good news! About Bruce and about Joe. I will be praying about the cardio conversion, but you can tell Joe I said it sounds like something that should take place in church, not a hospital. ;-) xo
