The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
7) She also starred on Mama's Family in the role of matriarch of an argumentative Southern clan. As we head into the holiday season, do your plans involve a lot of family time? Our son and DIL will be here for Thanksgiving and we will be with our two grandchildren (down in Naples) for Christmas.
8) After The Carol Burnett Show and Mama's Family, Vicki became a staple on daytime TV. She hosted Win, Lose or Draw and was a contestant on The Match Game and $25,000 Pyramid. Do you watch much daytime TV? Nope. I work full time. If I am home during the daytime Monday-Friday, I usually don't feel like watching TV.
9) Random question provided by a Sat 9er: Bugs/insects. Do you like 'em or fear 'em? Tell us something/anything you know about them. I am not a fan of any bugs. If I see one, it is dead.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
Saturday 9: The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia (1972)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
2) In this video, Vicki Lawrence is obviously lip synching. If you had to participate in a competition, would you do better at karaoke or lip synching? Neither. And what song would you choose to perform? I am not a performer, period. I don't sing well so karaoke is out, but I also don't 'perform' so lip synching would also be a disaster.
3) Back when this song was popular, so was the Rubik's Cube. Can you solve that 3-D puzzle? I never really tried to solve it, but probably not.
4) Vicki Lawrence is a hyphenate, meaning she's a comedienne-actress-singer. Using hyphens, describe yourself. Accountant-wife-stepmom-grandma-cat lover.
5) Back in the early 1970s, songwriter Bobby Russell first offered this song to Cher, who refused it. Give us the name of a song Cher did record. Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves....

1) The lyrics tell us about a young man who stopped at a bar named Webb's before heading home. What's the last restaurant or bar you visited? What did you order? The last one was a Wendy's on the way home from Georgia (yes, Georgia!). We each had a chili and a frosty.

6) Vicki Lawrence won her first big break playing Carol Burnett's kid sister because of her resemblance to the star. Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity? When I was in 6th grade, a star-struck friend told me I looked like Haley Mills. I've never forgotten it and have also never seen the resemblance.

That's it for another fun Saturday:9! Thanks to Samantha for posting the questions!
We are home from our visit with my sister and BIL in Georgia. Had a great time and will post about it later in the week! Peace & hugs.

In general, I don't like bugs either, but I don't kill bugs that I consider beneficial if they're outside. Here I'm thinking of bugs like ants and beetles. My answer for number 2 would be exactly the same. I think we all probably sing no matter how badly. We just don't make it public. Looking forward to hearing about your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI sing, but have been asked not to = tee hee. It always made Julie (who sings beautifully) cry when she was a baby....EVERYONE's a critic :)
