We spent another unrushed weekend and it sure felt good!
Friday evening we went to Sam's Club for things we always get there. I think there were 26 items in the basket when we left. We have learned that - no matter what you get at Sam's Club - take the number of items in your basket times $10 and you will be real close to the cost at the register. It works nearly every time for us. Try it if you shop there. Now you know how much we spent Friday night.
Saturday we slept in (late for us!). I cooked breakfast, we read the paper then got cleaned up and headed out to Publix for the rest of our Thanksgiving and company-coming grocery list. We didn't spend quite as much there as we did at Sam's Club, but did find a 22-pound Publix brand turkey for 59¢ a pound - SCORE! It is thawing in the refrigerator. Joe has a short list of things to get on Wednesday morning that I didn't want to keep in the house for so many days before using it....bagels, fresh broccoli, etc.
Sunday we got up early for the 8:00 Mass. I helped sell pecans after Mass for my women's group. Afterwards, we went out to breakfast at one of our "locals" places. It was crowded with the after and before church crowd, but we found two seats and enjoyed our $5.99 breakfast. Two eggs, hash browns, sausage, a biscuit and coffee for $5.99. Delicious.

Got home and started the laundry. We have someone coming today (Monday) to steam clean the floors and grout (tile throughout the house) and the sofa and loveseat. Our son, Joe, is allergic to cat hair, so we do our best to make him comfortable. I'll get the guest room ready for the kids on Tuesday evening and do some last-minute cleaning, then shut the door to keep the cats out. Wednesday evening I'll start prepping for Thanksgiving dinner!! I LOVE cooking Thanksgiving dinner. It's a happy place for me!! :)
I've been Christmas shopping (on-line). So thankful for Amazon Prime!! Tis the season.....
Thanks for stopping by and reading my weekend recap and plans for the week! Peace & hugs.

Wegmans had turkeys as well for 59 cents a pound. Sigh---I do miss Publix...sounds like you will have a house full for Thanksgiving...which is always great, smiles. Have a beautiful Monday, friend.
ReplyDeleteJust six of us, but I send turkey home with everyone and will use the leftovers for several days. Leftovers are the best part of Thanksgiving dinner!
DeleteWe don't have a Sam's or Costco near us. MIL has a Costco by her that I love to go to. Haven't been there in a while.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I received some gifts I ordered from an Etsy shop earlier today and will be ordering others from amazon too. My sister loves amazon prime. I have prime, but I think it''s a bit different. It sounds like you have everything under control. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the "math" at shopping at Sam's. We don't go often because I tell my hubby we always spend too much...LOL. Sounds like you had a very productive weekend. HOPE your THANKSgiving week is blessed.
ReplyDeleteI think your place will be a happy place on Thursday. You are right about Sam's, however, today we bought ink for our new printer and went over the top!! Wowza! I do the click and pull when we order water so they have everything ready and we can just pick it up at the front of the store.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice week-end. We enjoy going out for breakfast and do it often. One of the fun perks of retirement! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLast year, I caved and made Stove Top Stuffing because our guests like it best. This year I am making my mom's recipe "dressing" and if no one else likes it, there will be more for me!! I agree the stuffing is the star of the meal!!
