Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 226
Here are the questions to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog, then hop back HERE tomorrow to share answers with the world wide webbers. See you there!
1. On Saturday July 4th America celebrates her Independence. (If you're not American, feel free to answer in terms of a national holiday in your own country) What is your favorite thing about the day? That our patriot ancestors rose up and fought for what they believed in. They deserve to be celebrated. Your favorite food on the 4th? I don't really have a favorite food for the 4th. Do you fly a flag at your house? Yes, definitely. Fireworks-yay or nay? Not anymore. I don't want to fight the bugs, the crowds or the traffic. Any special plans this year? We have been invited for lunch at a friend's house, then we will go the church (Vigil Mass). On the 5th, we begin our week at the beach with lots of family!
2. What's something you recently got for free? A button with the Museum's new logo on it, at this week's Annual Meeting.
3. The Statue of Liberty, The Liberty Bell, The Washington Monument, or Mount Rushmore...how many on the list have you seen? All but Mt. Rushmore. What is your favorite historical American monument, and why? There are so many magnificent ones that I can't really name a favorite. I lived in the metro DC area for 12 years and have seen lots of them, with reverence and awe. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Arlington National Cemetery touch my heart.
4. When it comes to the news are you more ostrich (stick my head in the sand) or hog (they have room to take a whole lot in)? Somewhere in between. How much attention have you given the recent news reports regarding ISIS and the acts of terror they've perpetrated against those who do not share their beliefs or support their cause? I am not a news-hog but I listen to learn enough to be informed. I have to admit that the tactics of those monsters make me sick and I would like to see them obliterated.
5. We're talking plain ice cream...vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry? Choose one. Chocolate.
6. Share a song you love containing the word 'stars' in the lyrics or title? Sang this one with my mom when I was a kid....
7. Describe and/or say goodbye to June with an acrostic.
June makes way for July
Under wet and rainy skies
Now we have a chance to get dry
Every day that goes by
8. Insert your own random thought here. You are tired of me saying it, but I am counting down the days to the beach!! I'm so excited to see my cousins!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Happy Hodgepodging and thanks to Joyce for giving us another week of great questions to answer! Peace & hugs!
I have only seen Statue of Liberty and that was at a distance. We don't live that far from Philly but I have never seen the Liberty Bell.
ReplyDeleteYum chocolate ice cream.
Have a great day!
Love your patriotic background....the flag "flying" on the sides is so pretty! My favorite is CHOCOLATE, too....but, I happen to be a CHOCOHOLIC!! LOL I know you're looking forward to your beach vacation....oh, I would be, too! Happy 4th of July week and weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a whiz with different backgrounds. Love your acrostic and am very excited for your beach vacation coming up. You will make so many wonderful memories. Looking forward to hearing all your tales.
ReplyDeleteThere really are so many memorials, I had forgotten the ones you mentioned. Happy 4th!
And very nice acrostic.
Lol! Sorry for the repeat. Senior moment.
DeleteI like number 7 too. I'll be celebrating the holiday with my friends in a restaurant, because it falls on the first Saturday. I don't enjoy fireworks up close, but look forward to seeing the WEBN ones on TV in September. I don't know what my sister's plans are for that night. They most usually take a train ride to and from the fireworks.
ReplyDeleteI have been to all of the places mentioned and was and still am, in awe of each one. I never tire of hearing about your events, upcoming, or before, and I am excited for you. Family means the most. I guess I am an ostrich...dont like to argue; have my own beliefs. Enjoy your day Terri.
ReplyDeleteOh, that was a good song! Have a wonderful time at the beach with your family!
ReplyDeleteHow many more days until the beach??? :)
ReplyDeleteOh Bing Crosby! They certainly can't sing like that nowadays! Chocolate for me too! I also watch the news in spurts. Too much is too depressing. Happy 4th to you!
ReplyDeleteI love America and I hope it always stays as wonderful as when our forefathers fought for it!
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the poet!
ReplyDeleteI agree on the chocolate.
I'm working the 4th, but we're going to our daughter for a BBQ in the evening.
We've had quite a bit of rain here recently too. Have a wonderful beach holiday with your family! Sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat acrostic! I don't do fireworks anymore either, too hot and too many mosquitos. I can hear them from my house and sometimes we can see a few if they go high enough. Hope you holiday week-end and beach vacation are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah! The bugs! How in the world did I forget to mention the bugs? LOL They are nasty little things, aren't they? Can't wait to see the pictures from the beach! Have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteGood acrostic. Hope you have a great 4th July and a great vacation.
