Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 229
Here are the questions to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Hop back here tomorrow to share answers with all your friends and neighbors. See you there!
1. Is your home air conditioned?Oh my goodness, YES. I live in Florida! If it's not air conditioned, is that by choice? Did you grow up with air conditioning? No, there was no AC at our house. I grew up in Central Ohio. If not how did you cope with the heat? We had window fans, but it really didn't get that hot. Share about a time or place you remember as being too hot-the temperature kind of hot, lest anyone be confused. July and August in Florida are the two hottest months, with horrid humidity and I don't remember it ever being more hot than it is here.
3. Your favorite light and airy dessert? I love custards. They are perhaps not real 'airy' but they are delicious. Flan, Creme Brulee, any custard pie.....
4. When did you last feel like you were 'floating on air'? At the beach, two weeks ago, with all my wonderful family around me! I still haven't landed fully!
5. Airport, airmail, airtight, airhead...which have you most recently encountered? Explain. Airport, when we took our son there to fly home to Virginia after our beach vacation.
6. Have you ever been to the Alps? No, but I have flown over them! If so where did you go? If not, is this a destination on your must-see list? I would love to see them again. If you were headed that direction this summer, which of the following would be your preferred activity...a gentle walk, a serious walk, a bike ride, a boat ride around one of the lakes, or summer snow skiing? Definitely the boat ride.
7. What is one saying or phrase that was considered 'cool' when you were growing up? Groovy; cool; peace; right on; you bet your bippy; flower child; dude; hang loose; bra burner..... (sorry, you asked for one!)
8. Insert your own random thought here. Some of you saw this on Facebook, but I am so happy for my beautiful niece, Sara, and her FIANCE Matt!! They got engaged last weekend!! Sara is a teacher and Matt begins his residency next month. They met at Ohio University and have been going together for a couple of years now. Matt's sister was there to take the photos, and Sara's brother, Mike, took a video (which I haven't seen yet). It is fun that the siblings were in on it. Sara thought it was a dinner date in Athens.

Congrats to Sara and Matt. What a lovely couple and I love that the siblings captured the special moment! I will keep both Fran and Karen in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteYour post has made me hungry for flan. We have a favorite Mex. restaurant that has THE BEST!
Wishing you a lovely day.
Congratulations to Matt & Sara! What a lovely couple. Fun answers to the HP, Terri. Keeping you in prayer. Have a good day. Blessings
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Matt + Sara. That's neat that it was able to be captured on film + video. Great memories for them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Such sweet pictures and I wish much happiness for this precious couple starting their lives together. I love flan; would like to visit Austria and see the Alps; no way could I manage summer without AC...I would melt away! lol Happy Hump Day to you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the happy couple! Your beach vacation with the family sounds delightful. It's always great to have the family together. Praying for you for the loss of your friends, and for those fighting.
ReplyDeleteI know it was hot in Kentucky in the aummer, but I don't think it was as humid as it is now or maybe it was that I was used to the humidity. The first time I had airconditioning was when I went to university. Many years ago, a friend and I went to Florence by train, so we went through part of the Alps.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I saw your photos on facebook of your niece and future husband. I haven't spent a lot of time there today. I was thinking about cleaning the windows today, but then it got cloudy and two drops of rain fell. Oh, now we're getting a bit more thanks to my thinking about window washing! No, i'll wash them another day.
Could you imagine living in Fla. with no a/c? Me either!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to visit your blog, yesterday, but I'm so sorry for your losses. It makes you stop and think, doesn't it?
I enjoyed reading your answers, especially the phrases from your youth. Ha! They're all familiar to me :)
Congratulations to the CUTE couple, Sara and Matt!! You bet your sweet bippy! Wasn't that from Laugh In? I haven't thought of that for years, Terri. Fun memory. :-))

ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I love seeing engagement (and wedding) pictures! I drove right by OU last week, going up to our family cottage at Lakeside, Ohio... and back - down Rte. 33. Man, that's a long trip!! My post before the Hodgepodge tells of the adventure.
ReplyDeleteWe were in Florida last year in the spring and I remember what it was like then. I don't think I could bear the summers there, but I know we do what we gotta do. Thanks for remembering all the cool sayings from the 60's. I remember everyone saying you bet your bippy and what about sock it to me?
ReplyDeleteYoung love. So sweet.
You said it! We'd die in Florida without A/C. Can you even imagine??
ReplyDeleteI bet you are still floating from your trip! You know, that humidity is worse than the heat! I hate going to Houston because of it. I don't glisten, I sweat!! Love Sara's smile!! You can tell she is ecstatic!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the cute couple! I think back to when I was a child - no air conditioning - just an attic whole house fan - now I think I would die without it! lol
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your niece...she's glowing with happiness! I grew up without AC, too, but I truly don't think it was as hot as it is these days...could that be "global warming"? Love your new background and header....so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat happy news about your niece and her engagement! I loved the story and pictures!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers! Congrats to Sara and Matt.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your recent losses. Life is unpredictable and the suddenness must have been shocking. I'm happy for your good news too...congratulations to the newly engaged! And thank you for your note about my pup too.
ReplyDeleteNice Random Thought. I must be getting old because both Matt and Sara look too young to be college grads much less get married. All the best to the young couple! Blessings!
