Home again, home again....and Saturday:9!

We arrived home mid-afternoon.  The week went so fast, but we sure had a great time.  My sister and her family left an hour or so before we did.  We got the car packed....really packed....and headed for the airport to see our son, Jeff, off.  We had lunch with him at the airport and hung out for a couple of hours, since his flight was scheduled to depart at 3:05.  When we arrived home, we unpacked (good grief there was a bunch of stuff to unload and put away!) then went to the grocery.  Sitting here at home relaxing now.  Laundry tomorrow.  There are probably eight loads.  Ugh.

I told my boys to look sad about saying good-bye:

On to our usual Saturday:9.....

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Crazy Little Thing Called Love (1980)

... because Diana suggested Queen

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this video, Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury is wearing a leather jacket. Do you have a leather jacket?  Yes, I do. I've had it for about 8 years and have worn it twice.

2) There's a statue of Freddie in Switzerland. There's another statue of him above the Dominion Theater in London. Tell us about a statue or memorial in your town.  Our central park in our downtown area is called Munn Park, named for our founder Abraham Munn.
It is one of the few parks in the United States of America that is specifically dedicated to soldiers who fought for the Confederate States of America, and there is a statue of a Confederate Soldier in the center of the park.

3) Mercury said this song was inspired by Elvis Presley. What's your favorite Elvis song?  I don't think I have a favorite Elvis song. I've never been a fan of Elvis, particularly.

4) This song was covered by the animated Alvin and the Chipmunks. Do you still watch cartoons?  No, but I am not opposed to watching cartoons, I just haven't watched any for a long, long time.

5) The members of Queen met while attending Ealing Art College in London. Are you still in touch with the friends you had in your late teens and early 20s?  Yes, I am and feel blessed for it!

6) During Queen's hey day in the 1980s, Mercury stayed in shape with tennis and swimming. Are you more accomplished on the court or in the pool?  I never learned to play tennis but was a qualified lifeguard when I was a 'youngster'.  I was a good swimmer then, not so much now.

7) In 1980, when this song was popularBrooke Shields made a jeans commercial where she said, "Nothing comes between me and Calvins." It actually only aired for a short time because so many viewers called and complained about it. Have you ever called or emailed to protest something you saw on TV?  No, just because it wouldn't do any good these days.  I'm appalled at some of the things I see today, especially in the commercials.  Good grief!

8) 1980 is also the year the Post-It note was introduced. What's the last Post-It you wrote?  I use  post-it notes daily, several times a day at work.  Can't imagine life without post-its!!

9) Random question: Do you blush easily?   I am fair skinned, so yes, a blush comes easily and is quite apparent.

Thanks for peeking in!!  It feels good to be home.  Peace & hugs.

  2. It's nice to be home, but the unpacking and laundry are no fun!
I like this weeks song, but am not a fan of the artist!
I enjoyed your answers and would have similar answers, but I don't blush. :)

  3. Now you have lots of new memories to treasure! There's still no place like home, even with 8 loads of laundry waiting on you!

  5. 8 loads of clothes! I'm not an Elvis fan either though I'd say Queen is one of the best bands to come out of Britain. Very few things shock me nowadays. Do you see ads for condoms on TV, because we do? I also remember when Queen's 'I Want to Break Free' video was banned in the US. That's a bit much I think.

Anyway, I'm glad you and everyone else in your party had a wonderful week of fun and sun.

  6. Oh, Man!!! Am I the only Elvis fan here? Dag! His "bedroom eyes", as Mom always called them, never fail to make my heart go pitty-pat. Oh, Baby :)
