Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 228
Here are the questions to this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog, then link back here to make the middle of the week a little less middle-y. See you there!
1.July 15th is National Give Something Away Day. What can you give away? Will you? I had no idea today is National Give Something Away Day. Too late for today, but I MUST clean out my closet. MUST. And I always donate to one or two local shelters.
2. Do you have a mantra? Not really. Please share with the class if you feel comfortable doing so.
3. Who does the grocery shopping in your house? I do, but Joe is usually with me. How many times a week do you shop? Always once a week, sometimes twice. Do you make a list or pray for inspiration in the produce aisle? I make a list and then end up with twice as much.
4. Is there a TV show you're embarrassed to say you watch? Not embarrassed, but some of you will laugh! You're going to tell us what it is, right? Swamp People. I love the people!
5. A recent article listed fifteen words we should eliminate from our (written) vocabulary in order to sound smarter-
that, went, honestly, absolutely, very, really, amazing, always, never, literally, just, maybe, stuff, things, and irregardless
Of the fifteen, which word is your most overused? Honestly and amazingly, I absolutely never say stuff like that!! Irregardless of what you might think!! (giggle)
6. So apparently dying your hair gray (in your youth!) is a thing right now. It's called 'The Granny Hair' trend. Your thoughts? I think it's kind of silly, but I have let mine go natural and it is nearly all gray now. I AM a grandma, though.
7. A while back Buzz Feed asked members to share the most beautiful sentence they've read in a piece of literature. A hard thing to narrow down, at least for me, but let's try. What's one of the most beautiful sentences you've ever read in a piece of literature? Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. --I Corinthians 13:4-7 (Does the Bible count as literature?)
8. Insert your own random thought here. I got my hair trimmed last night, after work. It was good to catch up with my barber (also my friend) Teena. She is my inspiration for the Low Carb High Fat diet. We talked about recipes. It really is not a hard plan to follow. She has lost 80 pounds! I have to do it if I ever want to get my knee fixed! Working on it.....
Thanks for checking in today! Happy Hodgepodging! Peace & hugs.
The other day I posted something from Spanish on facebook and translated it, because the automatic translator is the pits. It goes: Imagine if all the trees produced wifi, people would plant them everywhere, and we would end deforestation. It's a shame that they only produce the oxygen we breathe... I often read inspiring thoughts in books. I took a class in the Bible as literature when I was in college.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't ever use irregardless. However, I admit to using some of the others quite often. I would add some other words to the list and one in particular: whom. I suppose people think they're being proper when they use whom instead of who. The problem is they almost never use it correctly.
Hope you're slowly adjusting to being back at work and have a good day.
Loved the verse from Corinthians you shared......and your answer to #5 was literally amazing!!! :) HOPE you have an awesome day!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, of course, the Bible can count!! Anything/Everything from God counts!!! Loved your answers, thanks for the smiles. Blessings
ReplyDeleteMy hair seems to get more gray every week. I couldn't imagine dying it to gray when I was younger but whatever floats their boat.lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Most of us will think the granny hair is ridiculous! I have t gone grey yet but I don't want to! I'll go straight to the salon. Oh swamp people.. My dad watches that and Bigfoot.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to follow a low carb lifestyle for years now. Try, being the operative word! Pinterest has a lot of good recipes for low carb/ paleo diets. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYour post had me chuckling nearly all the way through! I'm trying the Isagenix shakes for breakfast and lunch and Atkins for dinner. The snacking in between is nearly under control. Ha! Please share the low carb high fat one! Is it similar to Atkins?
ReplyDeleteGreat answers, Teri, as always. Swamp people? Haha! Never heard of that one. I definitely believe the Bible counts as literature and I notice several have quoted from it. It is filled to the brim with beautiful sentences. I have not yet been brave enough to go grow and Jay won't let me. I'm curious to see how I would look.
ReplyDeleteLoved 1 Corinthians! Hope you have an amazing day! Really!!
ReplyDeleteFinding a new person to cut my hair is one of the most stressful things about moving. Really : ) It usually takes me a couple of stylists before I land on one who manages my hair the way I want. I think there are some women who have lovely gray hair. None of them are 20-something though! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI used a Bible verse too.
ReplyDeleteI think we are all wanting to purge our closets! I am getting my hair done tonight. I love catching up with "my boys"! Our conversations always run a gambit of topics and health is always one of them!
ReplyDeleteI need to do some cleaning of closets too.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of quotes today!
I love Swamp People! And that reminds me, I should have said Alaskan Bush People for my answer. My stepdad has me hooked on that. They are soooo odd, but I'm hooked. lol
ReplyDeleteSwamp People? That's a new one for me.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Bible most certainly counts as literature and you chose a very good passage!
So fun to read your answers Terri! The swamp people one cracks me up!! The little bit I've ever seen of that show I had a hard time understanding them and found it so funny they need to have subtitles! Lol
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty piece of writing - love those verses and had them in our wedding readings.
Have you been able to follow that new diet well? That's awesome that your friend lost so much on it!!
Happy week my Friend. xo
I find it interesting to learn the "Reality Shows" people watch. Most are reluctant to admit that they watch. I need to lose weight too to address my knee problem. Much easier said than done. Best of luck to you!
ReplyDeleteI like the quote - This too will pass. And I have been giving things away for a year - house cleaning - not much left. I have never seen Swamp People.
