Wednesday is Hodgepodgeless....

Our Hodgepodge hostess, Joyce, is only a few days from her daughter's big wedding day, so it is understandable that she opted out of doing a Hodgepodge this week.  I guess we can forgive her!!

BUT....this also means that we will need stories and lots of photos over the next week. I know I want to see the bride in her dress, the mob in her dress, and all the trimmings....cake, venue, etc., etc.  After being (sort of) in on the planning, it's time for the big reveal!!  Can't wait!

I went back to last January's archives, and found this, my first Hodgepodge post for 2014.  I'm sharing it today!  I would still give the same answers, one year later.

It's Hodgepodge Wednesday!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 158

Joyce, From This Side of the Pond, has come up with some good questions for us again! Thank you Joyce!  Join the fun by visiting her HERE.

1.  Are you a force to be reckoned with? In what way?  When something gets my Irish up, I am a terrible force to be reckoned with.  I am usually mild-mannered and quiet, but if I get tipped over that proverbial edge, I can get loud and nasty.  Doesn't happen often, but woe to anyone close by when it does! I always have to apologize.

2. What are two things you love about the wintertime? Or, if love feels like too strong a word, what are two things you 'like' about winter? I love wintertime in Florida, because we can shut the AC off and open the doors and windows to fresh air!

3. Pomegranate, kumquat, persimmon, kiwi, and guava are all fruits said to have health benefits, particularly during the winter months. Do you have a favorite on the list? Are there any on the list you haven't tried? I've had them all, but pomegranate is my favorite. You can buy the arils at Sam's Club, and just enjoy the sweet juiciness without all the bother!  They are so good mixed in Greek Yogurt!

4. I passed a local church yesterday and noticed they had this on their outdoor sign- 'When all else fails, do the right thing.' Your thoughts? I agree.

5. Do you ski? According to one list I've seen, the top 5 ski destinations for 2014 are-St. Anton Austria, Whistler Canada, Cortina Italy, Tahoe USA, and Zermatt Switzerland.  Of the five listed, which would you most like to visit? We can make skiing optional if that helps the non-skiers with their answer. When I still lived in Ohio and was still in my 20s, I did go skiing once. That was enough. Now, I don't care if I ever see snow again. I would, however, love going back to Italy (but not in winter).

6.  What's the last thing you looked for online? (Besides my blog!) I am online at least 10 times a day, for work and/or home. How did we ever get through a day without Google and Amazon? I always shop online and rarely go to a store for something (other than groceries).

7. What saying, slogan, quote, or motto have you seen lately that inspires you for the new year?  Well, I had to go online (smiling) to check out a few, and found two that I really like:
  •  “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” — Mother Teresa
  • “Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.” — Helen Keller
8.  Insert your own random thought here. This isn't very random, but I want my friends to know that my back is much better, and my tailbone is just a little tender still, after my fall on Sunday. The knee is holding up. I think I just turned too fast and put all my weight on it at the wrong time, causing it to buckle.

Ha - reading #8 again blew my mind.  Seems like it was just a few months ago that my knee gave out on me and I fell on my tailbone.  It's been a whole year, for goodness sake!!  Time goes much too fast.

Thanks for stopping by!  Peace & blessings!

  1. A great past HP. I once fractured my tail bone (it has another name, but can't think of it,lol), I fell down on ice/snowy steps. Not fun. I am over careful now, wink. Blessings

  2. It is sometimes good to go back and re-read and see how far we have come. Time is flying, and as you said, we better get it or do it now. Happy Wednesday!

  5. Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that I came by and read Monday's vacation memories. I tried to leave a comment, but couldn't. For some reason, I'm having issues, at times. That was some vacation trip!
It's strange not doing The Hodgepodge today, but I'm knee-deep in packing up Christmas decor anyway. I'm on a rest break, as I type :)
It's scary how quickly time is passing! We'd better make the most of each day, huh?
I'll be back, soon as I can...

  6. You know I used to be a force to reckon with - then I figured - what's the use of getting myself so excited - but I do once in awhile. lol

  8. Your poor tailbone, Terri. Give it a break! (and not literally, either!) I smiled at your having to apologize. I feel just like that. I take a lot, but when people are obviously malicious and keep pressing, they'll see the not-so-nice side of me. Enjoyed reading your past Hodgepodge.

  9. You didn't go skiing in Ohio, did you? It's so flat! Time does go by so quickly as we're always saying. Maybe one day we'll have the option of slowly it down. I was saying today that i wish all electrical things used wifi. I so hate cables!
