Tidbits on Tuesday....

My youngest sister, Tammy, and her husband, Bruce.

I apologize for dwelling on my family's hardships, but I pulled this photo of my sis and Bruce, from his daughter's Facebook page. She is requesting prayers too.  It's the best picture I have of them.

I spoke with Tammy last night.  It seems his supplemental insurance is the one that keeps denying his treatment, so she has been advised to cancel his supplemental policy, and Medicare will start to pick up coverage for the rehab facility they want to use, in Tallahassee. Tammy will be allowed to stay with him, in his room there, so fingers are crossed that this will work.  Tammy's work has been very good about giving her time off, but I advised her to formally apply for FMLA, so her job will be there for her when she can get back to work.

The good news today (thanks for your prayers!!!) is that he is laughing more, and said YES and OH BOY!!  He is beginning to form words that make sense.  After all the complaints, he got a really good 'bath' today, including his hair and beard. He got PT, which gets him up and into a chair, however briefly. Tammy was able to leave, while his granddaughter was there with him. She got some shopping done, some laundry done, and got a shower herself. Bruce's family has really been helping, which is so great.

Again, thanks for all the prayers. They are being heard!!

I am so excited that my BFF, Elaine, and her husband, Jim, are coming for a week next month!! We will see what kind of trouble we can find to get into!  I'll be taking a couple of days off during the week, and we will have two weekends with them. Psyched about this!!

I am also very excited that my cousins and sisters are getting reservations made for our family reunion vacation, at the beach in July.  I think this might be the incentive I need to lose a few pounds.....  we'll see.  I am not bathing suit ready right now, that's for sure!  We need to get 10 rooms reserved to get the group rate. I think we are at six or seven right now, but I haven't heard from quite a few. Fingers crossed!

That's all for now! Thanks for stopping in, and thanks again for your prayers, for Bruce & Tammy!

  2. I'm a bit lost [but I have blond roots with all my silver strands which explains a lot] on this post and will have to go catch up on your blog news.

From what I'm gathering with your most recent words, things are improving. which is ALWAYS good to read.

Yes, this insurance these days is atrocious. I hope all will be settled, and your advisement on the form filling out is one of the BEST bits of advice.

Keeping y'all in my thoughts Terri.

  3. Ohhhhhhh don't get me going on insurance. Good advice for Tammy--she can apply for upwards of 6 months-to a year off. Keeping them in prayer. I certaintly can understand what she is going through.

    Your reunion sounds cool. Blessings

  6. Terri, I am so thankful that Tammy found a way to get Bruce the help he needs, even if it means cancelling his supplemental. Good that you advised her how to make sure her job is there, too. The stress that caregivers go through in a situation like this is what many people don't realize as it takes both an emotional and physical toll. So yes, I pray that Tammy has the Lord's own supernatural strength to get through this chapter and not just get through it, but thrive!

I can really see the family resemblance between you girls. I just want to reach out and hug her and you both. I hope this note will suffice for now.

Glad you have two wonderful things to look forward to both with the family reunion this summer and with the friend reunion. Happy for you!

And I hope you will continue to keep us posted about Bruce. That is one thing about bloggers. It is a community of people who care.

    xo

  7. Don't apologize for talking about your family - it's the focus right now, plus we like the updates. Glad to hear the positives on Bruce. The insurance makes me really mad though. They are more than willing to take your money, but are so stingy on paying out.

  10. I'm behind in reading here, so trying to catch up a little. Crazy the way insurance works sometimes, and a shame they tried to plan by buying supplemental but now are advised to let it go. It's hard to understand, but I do hope everything works out and they get to the place they need to be without any further difficulties.

  12. Insurance companies just infuriate me. They have strangers sitting in little cubicles somewhere, making decisions about OUR medical conditions!! Bob and I were talking about you at supper tonight. We both are praying for Bruce and Tammy.
