I really don't have much to post this lovely Friday, except to say IT'S FRIDAY! Not sure why that is so exciting, since I have to do some major cleaning this weekend, but maybe that is exciting, since the dirty house is starting to make me nuts.
My "Cloud 6" Thanksgiving, which fell from my being on "Cloud 9" now has me back up to a "Cloud 8" which is where I think I will stay. Lauren and Tristan really are driving up for Thanksgiving and the weekend!! Kathy (my daughter-in-love and their mom) has been working in Philadelphia for a couple of weeks, and is just going to slip down to Virginia to spend Thanksgiving with her folks. Lauren and Tristan will get to spend a few days with us and their dad and step-mom, which is wonderful. Jim has to work on Friday, so he is going to just wing-it on his own, down in Naples. Seems like it will be lonely for him, but I guess it is all working out the way it is supposed to. I'm just thrilled that the kids will be here!
One of our Thanksgiving traditions will be to watch "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles". It is one of my favorite John Candy and Steve Martin movies. If you've never watched it, try to catch it. It can be a little much here and there, but the end is worth all the silliness. It makes me laugh AND cry. Here is a short clip of them (two stranded businessmen, who didn't know each other before), trying to get home for Thanksgiving....
I'm doing this on Thursday evening, to post in the morning, so will go ahead and say that I have my facial tonight (Thursday), and have a feeling I will fall asleep on the table. I am really, really tired. The funeral Mass for Caroline was lovely this morning. There were about 30 of us, from the church women's club (RCCW), and we were able to lead the procession down the aisle, in front of the Deacon and Priest, to begin the Mass. Caroline would have been very happy at the turn-out for her. She was such a special woman.
This Sunday, we are going to a birthday celebration, in our Church's outdoor Pavilion, for our oldest member of RCCW. Judy turned 95 this week, and her son and DIL are throwing the party for her. She is an amazing woman, who could pass for 70. She is sharp, active, still driving, and funny as can be. I copied these photos from Facebook. She was quite the looker when she was younger!!
I want to be just like her when I grow up!! She is strong in her faith, and has a heart of gold.
Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great Friday!! Peace & blessings!!

She looks like so much fun! Happy Birthday to Judy!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back on cloud 8. You're going to have a wonderful time!
A lovely lady, indeed. And, I love John Candy movies. Have a great weekend....hugs.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Judy. She's a pretty lady. I want to be like her too.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back on cloud 8. That's a nice even number. It'll be so much fun.
Hope you have a great weekend.
I'll add my want to be like Judy too. That photo of her as a young woman looks like an ad for Coke. Anyway, I wish her many more good years.
ReplyDeleteAs for you, I'm glad your cloud has risen. Nobody likes fog. Hope you have some time to rest this weekend in between your household chores. Enjoy your facial and the rest of your Friday.
I haven't seen that movie in years. It was funny. That's great that the grandkids are coming for. Happy birthday to your friend Judy. She sure doesn't look 95. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful lady! Add me to the wannabes!! Happy Thanksgiving. I am happy for you that you will have so many loved ones around your table. That movie was funny, although you are right about the "here and there." The end was sweet.
