Thursday Tidbits....

We made it to Columbia, SC, last night and are trying to get an earlier start this morning, for the last leg of our trip home.  We have about 8 more hours on the road.

Our timing has just been impeccable on this trip.  I say that with tongue-in-cheek.  We hit Atlanta at the evening rush hour, Chattanooga at the morning rush hour Cincinnati at the evening rush hour, Charlotte during the evening rush hour, and it looks like we will hit Orlando at the evening rush.  I think we will slip through Jacksonville somewhere in between.  There was a time in our lives when we would hit the road at 3:00 a.m., and would make it through those big cities before or after the rush hours.  Now it's all we can do to get out there by 8:00 a.m.  So - we just plan to sit in traffic now. If there are no accidents, it only takes an extra 20-30 minutes. Sigh.

Our trip has been so much fun, and seeing family and friends has been beyond measure....but there is no place like home. We're anxious to see our fur-babies (texts from Ginny have all been positive), and (of course) for a night in our own bed.  Even Marriott can't beat our own bed.

I ask again for your prayers, for safe travels, and thank you for them! I have tomorrow off, to do laundry and catch up on news and mail, and I promise to get to blogs and emails. Saturday, we are off again, to Naples this time, for Tristan's birthday party.

Yes, I'm tired. I'm trying not to dwell on it, though!! Thanks for stopping by! Peace & love.

  1. You can almost see the prize (home) in the distance now. Praying all goes well for the remainder of the trip.

  4. You are very sweet to update us even during the travels. Traffic in cities seems worse than it used to be - - - volume, speed, impatient driving. We used to enjoy going to Chattanooga but not so much anymore. I won't even talk about Atlanta! So glad it was a wonderful trip and so smart of you to take tomorrow off, too. You will recover faster.

  5. I complain about all the hours I spend sitting on a plane. I don't think I could take all that traffic. I don't like hotels that much either. You're so right! There's no place like one's own bed. Glad you and your family had such a good time.

  6. Trips like the one you have been enjoying are always fun, but the older I get, the more I find being at home my real comfort zone. Safe travels and I know your babies will be so glad to see you!

  7. I'm so happy you had a wonderful trip! Nothing beats time spend with family and friends! I totally understand hitting big cities at rush hour. We always try our best to avoid it but sometimes it just can't be. I bet your fur babies are going to be so happy to see you! I had to laugh at your comment about sleeping in your own bed. We have an awful mattress at home and dread when we no longer have the hotel bed to sleep in..Lol.
