The
Power of Love
Welcome to Saturday:
9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions
every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the
questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random
questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants
posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice.
We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: The Power of Love (1985)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Huey explains that you don't need a credit card to find love.
What's the last thing you charged? We got rid of our charge cards years ago, and pay cash (usually with our debit card). We did have an American Express Card for our trip to Italy in 2007, so maybe that is the answer - wine and Murano glass, and tickets to Italy (and food!).
2) This song was written for Back to the Future. At the beginning of the movie, hero Marty McFly traveled around town on his skateboard. Are you good on a skateboard? Well, I did have one back in the 1960s!! It was red, with metal roller skate wheels. I did okay going down little hills and on the sidewalk, but we did not use them the way kids do today. Skateboarding has evolved!!
3) Huey sings lead and his backup group is The News. Was the most recent news you heard bad or good? I see Facebook news postings all the time, and they are rarely anything good. Ebola, Ebola, Ebola.....
4) Huey's mother, Maria, was born in Poland. Who is the first member of your family to be born in the US of A? Most of my paternal and maternal lines go way back to the 1800s and even to the Revolution (member of DAR), but my great-grandfather, William Swiss, born in the USA in 1871, is probably the most recent. His dad Andrew Switzer, came here from Germany, and changed his name to Swiss. We've been in the USA a long, long time.
5) Brainy Huey got a perfect score on the math portion of the SAT. Did you take the SAT? How did you do? I did, but it was over 45 years ago. I was accepted at Ohio University, so I must have done okay. It wasn't that big of a deal back then. Much more competitive now.
6) This song also hit #1 in Australia, where anzac biscuits are popular. To make them (the recipe is here) you need coconut. Do you have any coconut in your home right now? No. I have a can of coconut milk though. I don't use coconut much. Joe isn't crazy about it.
7) Thinking of dessert, would you rather have cookies, cake, pie, ice cream or frozen yogurt? Can I just say all of the above?
8) We're definitely into autumn now. What will you remember most about Summer 2014? It was hot and humid and very rainy.
9) Tell us your superhero name, as determined by the color of your shirt and an item directly to your right. For example, Sam fights crime as The Gold Kleenex Box! Terri fights crime with her black rolodex (It is Friday and almost time to go home - I am sitting at my desk, winding down from a very long week.....).

I went to lunch, at Panera Bread, with my girlfriends yesterday. It's always fun catching up with Cindee and Shirley. I had the pick two...broccoli cheddar soup and half a turkey sandwich. Yum. Wishing you a good weekend, everyone! Thanks for coming by. Peace & love!!

Great q's & a's! We have no credit cards, I took the SAT'S-they were pretty high if I seem to remember (except Math), I always keep a can or two of coconut milk (for cakes and the boy loves coconut 'milk'), let's see, as for the summer, it wasn't too bad as the previous year up here in NY. Have a great day, Terri.
ReplyDeleteI love Huey. Wish we didn't have credit cards. I love coconut but my family doesn't so I don't get it very often. My Superhero name would be The Green Mouse. lol Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteGood Q & A's this morning. Jim loves coconut and we always have something coconuty at each holiday dinner. I have no CC - just my trust debit card. If someone wants to hack that, they wont get much!
ReplyDeleteChurch is having fall festival and a prayer service before it begins. Jim is going, but I am not. Felt bad all day yesterday and still do this morning. Hope you have a good weekend.
Haha. Loved that #9. And BTW I think the SAT has been dumbed down since I took it a hundred or so years ago. Now kids even get to study for it and take practice tests! I must've done okay. I don't remember hearing the scores. But it got me into college.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have to start with Brenda fights crime with a cushion as I'm sitting on my bed at this moment. I don't use credit cards too often either, but have to admit they sometimes come in handy. Enjoy what's left of your Saturday.
ReplyDeleteOne credit card used for everything and paid off monthly. I think pie sounds really good right now, but all of those desserts sound wonderful. Math is the worst for me!
ReplyDeleteI liked that movie back in 1984 or 85?
I always like Huey and I can hear that song in my head now!
ReplyDeleteYour lunch sounds good. I always get the pick 2 when I go there too.
That last question is funny. Mari fights crime with her green camera!
First off....that lunch with the soup and sandwich is about what I order....at my favorite deli. LOVE broccoli cheese soup.
ReplyDeleteColorful Anni fights crime with her mouse!!
Enjoyed this Terri. Our summer was about like yours. At least the hot and humid.
My sister, Evelyn, never had a credit card until she had to fly home from Ohio....the airlines wouldn't take cash. So we purchased the ticket for her with our MasterCard (pre 9--11) and she paid us. After that she got a card just for that reason. Wonder if she ever uses it anymore.
