Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 175
1. Under what circumstances do you do your best thinking? Seriously? In the shower! Really. Must be something about being naked and running water (snort...I don't know!). But I really do get my best "light bulb" moments in the shower.
2. Are you a risk taker? What's one big risk you've taken? Not much of a risk taker, but I DO when necessary. Moving to Florida, 25 years ago, was probably the biggest risk either of us ever took, since we came with no jobs and basically started over. Wouldn't change it for the world, though.
3. Some of the most common phobias according to the National Institute for Mental Health are-fear of spiders (arachnaphobia), snakes (ophidiophobia), heights (acrophobia), fear of spaces from which escape is difficult (agoraphobia), fear of thunder and lightening (astrophobia), fear of dogs (cynophobia), injections (trypanophobia), social situations, flying (pteromerhanophobia) and fear of germs and dirt (mysophobia). True phobias affect only about 10% of adults, but of those listed which would you rate as your greatest fear? I really don't have a phobia, but I don't like being taken by surprise by snakes and bugs. If I know they are there, I can deal with them. I just don't want them to surprise me!
4. Are you settled or do you feel the need to move somewhere new? I am very settled, but have started to think about retirement in 3-4 years and that we will probably need to sell our house and move to something more manageable.
5. What is something you find annoying when dining in a restaurant? I like my water glass to stay filled, so hate having to flag down the server to fill it for me. I also don't like the server to hover, though. Find that happy medium that all experienced servers know about, and I am a happy customer.
6. Daffodil yellow, sunset orange, spring green, or sky blue...your favorite color this time of year? Spring green. I consider green a favorite color...any shade.
7. If you were going to take a holiday all by yourself, where would you go? To a quiet beach with a good book to read.
8. Insert your own random thought here. No random thoughts pop into mind this week. I'm still thinking about Cookie, and our trip to Naples this weekend. I've written about those.
Thanks for reading my Hodgepodge today!! Blessings!
Ugh I have a fear of heights. When I use the 2 step stepstool I get all shaky. Since I'm short and have to use it all the time you would think I would be used to it. lol
ReplyDelete...a lot of us mentioned 'annoyances' while dining out. Makes me go 'hmmmmm'.
ReplyDeleteI know you'll enjoy retirement!! It's been great for us...and I think it will be for you too. ps...love the patriotic template design here.
Ah! We both think in the shower! Time alone - and cleansing. A good place to think.
ReplyDeleteRetirement is both good and bad, but the good out weighs the bad any time. I wish Jim would consider selling this house and moving to an easier place for us, but this was his parents house before us, and he has a solid attachment to it. I fear heights but that is about it. I know Cookie will be on your heart and mind for a while, but I do hope the trip to Naples helps a little.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a trip to Naples on my weekend calendar-Italy or Florida : )
ReplyDeleteGreat answers..it seems we all have similar answers, giggling. Blessings
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Cookie. It's hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet. I also do some of my thinking in the shower. :) Hope you enjoy your trip to Naples. May parents spend January and February near there.
ReplyDeleteYou be careful with that light bulb in the shower. Electricity and water do not go together. hahaha (just joking) When I answered that question, I didn't write what I was thinking... on the toilet. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your kitty! I guess it hasn't been a great week for either one of us.
ReplyDeleteAs for 'light moments' in the shower, the teacher I used to work for always said she got her best teaching ideas while taking her shower! It never works for me...
I hate heights! I love Spring Green too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Naples!
Ohh, I remember being surprised by a centipede once when I woke up and felt it crawling across my hand! Yikes! I don't like bug surprises either. Enjoy Naples.
ReplyDeleteAww, it's so hard to lose a pet. I remember breaking down into tears for about a week every single time I thought about my Nikki and Sabrina after they died.
Sometimes I'm kept awake at night thinking, so I suppose that would be my answer. I remember a couple of summers ago, my family and I were having dinner in the pub in Glendale (Ohio) and there was an extremely loud man at the next table. I know things get loud in public places here, but our table and his were the only tables occupied in that part of the restaurant. The waitresses were even annoyed.
ReplyDeleteHow are the other kitties doing?
My biggest phobia would be heights (and cockroaches), even though I thought I had overcome the heights because of having to do alot of work while standing on mountainsides and cliffs. But when I tried to do a zip-line with my kids a few years ago, I found out I still have it....or better stated, it still has a grip on me. One of the hardest things I've done has been to jump off that platform. Arghhh!
ReplyDeleteYou do the best thinking in the shower? I think I do my best in bed before I go to sleep or when I first wake up.
