We're home!

We had a very nice weekend, visiting with our grandson (his mom & stepdad too), in Naples, FL.  I just realized that I didn't take one photo all weekend! Not one. What's wrong with me?!!!

Of course, I went totally off my points for Weight Watchers. We went out for dinner on Friday and again on Saturday. I wasn't horrible, but I'm sure (okay-I KNOW) I went over my points.  Will have to behave this week, for sure!

The big, exciting news is that their beautiful house is on the market, and they are looking for a home all on one floor!! No more 3rd floor guestroom!  I told them that stairs would never keep us away, but it will be wonderful to not have to climb the steps.  They are ready for a change, too.  We went house hunting with them yesterday, and while we were out and about, their Realtor called to tell them he had an offer on their house (already)!  They had a showing scheduled for today, and another tomorrow. Their home is lovely, so I'm sure it will sell fast.  (Just had a text from Kathy, and they have a bidding war going on, now....whoohoooo!)

After seeing the house they really want (if their's sells fast enough), and a couple others, we went to a ritzy open house party their Realtor had, in a home that was out of their price range (and certainly ours), but we were invited anyway. Wow - on the water with a dock, an infinity pool, a master suite that two people could live in, an amazing kitchen, etc., etc., etc.  They had an open bar (I had club soda) and food, food, food. I behaved there, because we were going out to dinner afterwards, to Tommy Bahama's, in Old Naples.  There, I had wheat pasta with chicken breast in a white wine sauce, and only a quarter of a roll (and didn't eat all of the pasta), so it could have been worse. Still a good time, and we had walked a lot during the day!  The scale at WW this coming Saturday will tell the tale!

Anyway, we left just before 10:00 this morning, to head home, since they had a showing at 11:00 and needed to tidy up and clear out.  I wiped down the guest bathroom, and made up the bed, etc., so there wasn't too much to do in there before people came through.  The house is always spotless and clutter-free anyway. It is decorated impeccably - like in a magazine. No wonder they already have a bidding war on.

So, it was an exciting and very fun weekend for us. I love, love, love going in houses to look (as you have heard before!).

We got home around 1:00 and I've been doing laundry since.  The cats, though well cared for by our wonderful neighbors, were happy to have us home so they could go outside, in "their" enclosure.  We don't let them out when we aren't here, afraid that the screening will fail if there is another animal on the other side who wants to fight (or eat them!).  If we are home, we can watch them out there.  Here is a photo of a very happy Lucy, on top of the grill, enjoying being outside!  I'll leave you with her sweet face, and say good night (though I am going to visit your blogs right now).  Peace, love & hugs!

  1. How exciting about the sale of their house and finding another all on one level. Bet they will sell right away. Glad you got to visit and still get home to do some tasks around your place and get ready for the new week. Hugs.

  2. I know the kitties are so glad to have you home! Sounds like your grandson is going to have no trouble selling their place. How nice to have a bidding war going on. Hope they find just what they're looking for in a house.

Hope you're having a relaxing evening. Personally, I think it's always hard to stay on the wagon (re. points or calories or carbs or what-have-you) on the weekend. After all, Scarlet, 'tomorrow is another day.' :-)

    1. Our grandson is only 16, so it's his mom (our former daughter-in-law) and her husband who are selling the house, but Tristan is very involved in choosing their next home! We don't really count our points on weekends, but we do try to 'be responsible' eaters, now that we are WW again.

  3. That's exciting about the house. I hope that bodes well for the rest of Florida. I'm happy for your family, though, and I hope they find something else they love.

What a sweet, sweet kitty! Love that face.

    Glad you are feeling better.

    XO,

    Sheila

    1. Thanks, Sheila. My cold does seem to be gone. I got after it quickly and it worked this time! It is exciting about the house, but Naples is an area of Florida that is kind of unaffected by the economy in other places. It is a very wealthy area. Joe and I could not afford to live there, even if we were renting!

  4. It's always nice to see how other people live, but I really think a smaller place is much nicer than wasted space. One of the main points that sold me on my flat was no stairs to climb. Well, I have to go up and down 3 steps, which I'm thankful there aren't more. The stairs in my building, like a lot of the older constructions, are winding and dangerous. So the next time you visit will be to a different house!

    1. Brenda, I agree with you about space. They still have a teenager at home for two more years, and they entertain, so I think the new place they want will work well for them. If I had 3,600 sq. feet of living space, I would just be inclined to fill it up - and I don't need that much junk! LOL (and it would be junk!)

  5. That's great news about their pending house sale. I love looking at houses too. That was nice that you got to go with them and look at a few plus the open house.

I don't think WW points count when you are visiting relatives :)

Hope you are feeling better. Have a great day!

  6. That's wonderful... offers on the house already! I also love to go through homes on the market. After working for a real estate company for several years, I got the chance to see the inside of several homes in town that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. I'm glad you had a good time. ♥
