We had a great time at Legoland with the "kids" yesterday. Joe and I are both still exhausted, though! My knees held up pretty well, and don't hurt as bad, today, as I thought they would. Jeff and Shiree have today on their own. She has a friend in Tampa who they are connecting with, and I think they want to go explore Clearwater Beach. I am happy to have the day to recover, and get the laundry done! That says something - that I would rather stay home and do laundry! LOL
Here are more photos than you probably care to see, but I'm posting them anyway! We explored the old Cypress Gardens part of Legoland, which Joe and I hadn't visited yet in our other few trips there. I am so happy that Legoland preserved some of the gardens, and they made a few Southern Bell figures from Legos, but the gardens have suffered and aren't nearly as beautiful as they were "back in the day". We enjoyed the water ski show, all about pirates! Jeff and Shiree rode a couple of the rides, while Joe and I sat down and waited for them. Walk and sit, walk and sit, walk and sit - it worked!! The miniature cities made from Legos still fascinate me.

Everything is so beautiful. My very first trip to Florida was when I was 12 and my Mother and I rode a Greyhound bus to Cypress Gardens, and from there I cant even count the number of times I have been to Florida, but other areas. Glad you have a day to recover, and if I remember correctly, you too off tomorrow too, so you will be revived and ready to go again...the air boats, right? Have fun and keep the pictures coming!
ReplyDeleteCypress Gardens was Florida's first theme park, and dates back to the 1930s. A movie was filmed there, starring Esther Williams. I've been enjoying a lazy day!!
DeleteI love those gardens, and you say they were nicer before? I was thinking about the animals that might have been lurking there. Glad your knees held out.
ReplyDeleteYes, Brenda, when the gardens were the original Cypress Gardens, they were maintained to perfection. Legoland is preserving a part of the gardens, but not very well. I was disappointed, but hope they will continue to improve that part of the park.
DeleteI love those gardens and trees - so pretty! And I have been to Legoland - kids love legos!! sandiae
ReplyDeleteBig kids like it too! Which Legoland have you been to, Sandy? Ours is only two years old.
DeleteOooo the gardens look so beautiful. Legoland looks like fun. We love the Lego store at Downtown Disney. I can just imagine how much stuff Legoland gift shops have. Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteDowntown Disney does have a great Lego store, but there are several in Legoland, as you can imagine!
DeleteWow! What a fun day you all had! I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh how I would love to see Legoland someday with my son!
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures. During WW2, my mother lived near Cyprus Garden while my dad was in New Guinea. She wrote in her diary about it.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your son and his gf has been having a good time. I had to laugh at a couple of the pictures. Put a grown man on a roller coaster and his 'inner child' comes out. :) I'm glad your knees didn't give you a lot of pain.
I didn't see this when I posted on the other. Looks like you had a blast, and I need to go do this the next time I'm in Polk County.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having such a nice time with your son and his girl.
XO,
Sheila
Sheila, when you are in Polk County again, you also have to let me know so we can meet in person!!
