January 9th: The Friday Focus

I know I write it every week, but good golly - Friday got here fast!! Where did the week go!?

I know where it went...

On Monday, Christmas decorations came down and were packed away until next year. I also dropped my car off for an oil change, new brakes, and a tire balance (happy new year).  Neighbor, Bill, picked me up and then dropped me off to pick it back up.  I wanted to get it done before my trip to Georgia next week.

On Tuesday, I did cleaning and am still looking for a couple of things I tucked away for safekeeping, and now can't find them.  Do any of you do that?

Wednesday was spent in my junk/back/craft room.  I want it to be a place where I can get creative again.  My sewing machine is there, and my new Cricut has center stage.  I still haven't plugged it in or read instructions yet, but I did watch a YouTube video on what it can do.  I'll keep you posted.

Yesterday, I attended Bible study with our Pastor and eight or ten fellow parishioners. It is always a well-spent hour.  I decided to skip dinner out with the Mas Verde group.  I just didn't feel like going.  I'm not crazy about Ford's Garage (it's just okay), a dozen people were going (too many and takes forever to be served), and I really just wanted an evening with nothing to do.  So here I am, enjoying your blogs and getting this one written as I watch The Great British Sewing Bee.  Fun and getting me into a sewing mood (perhaps).

I am still walking every morning with Susan, Sandy, and Sharon.  We go at 7:30 a.m., and it takes us 25-30 minutes to walk the 1.2 miles around the community. We talk a lot!!  We stop now and then to talk with dog owners and pat the dogs. Some of the dogs recognize us now and start wagging their tails for attention.  It's fun.  I know dog names and not the owners' names.  "Here comes Cooper's dad!"  "There is Bone's mom!"

Tomorrow, my walking buddies and I are going to an annual Home Show at the civic center.  There are always lots of "freebies" to pick up.  Pads of paper, pens, totes, etc.  I don't need anything done, but it's a good place to find windows, siding, pavers, gardening supplies, and more.  Maybe we'll stop for lunch when we finish there.

An update on my neighbor, Paul. He is feeling much better, his numbers are looking good, and he may get home next week.  That will be nice because their daughter and oldest son are coming down for a visit next weekend.  Hoping he will be home for that.  Please keep praying if you have him on your prayer list!  xo

That's my week!  How was yours?  Thanks for your visit today!

Peace and Hugs!

Revive us again;
Fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled,
With fire from above.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.

  1. Sounds like a nice week. Ours has been low key and we needed that. I don't think I knew you sewed. I'm itching to be more creative in this new year and need to get in and organize the space. I have other organizing that needs to happen first, but hopefully will get to that this month. Have a nice weekend!

  2. What a great week you had, Terri. I think it's cute that you all know the names of the dogs you meet on your walks, but not the owner's - LOL! Yes, I've put things away in a 'safe place' and then forgot where I put them. Luckily, our house isn't so big that I can't usually find the object I'm looking for. Have a great weekend!

    1. My house isn't big but I still lose things all the time! They eventually turn up and I THEN remember where I put it. Always fun!

  3. It sounds like you had a very productive week, Terri. I am not surprised that you just wanted to stay in and do nothing on Thursday evening. I put things in a safe spot and they are so safe, I tend to forget about them. I look forward to seeing what you create this year. Have a wonderful weekend.

  4. I'm laughing at you not being able to find things, because I just said that to Bob - I put things away so I don't lose them, and then I don't remember where I put them!
    So glad Paul is improving!

  5. Hello! Ok. I am smiling because I literally said that today! I put things someplace "safe" and then cannot remember where! I think I would have made the same choice to skip the dinner out. A cozy evening at home is always a good idea. Have a nice weekend. my friend!

  6. Terri- I think most of us have done that 'safe place' for something and then just can't find it! lol You had a busy week. Me, too....busier than I wanted but things did get done. Life changes coming here again with hubby...sigh...it's been an adventure this last year of life. xo Diana

  7. First of all, Terri, I hope Paul can come home. I am also glad you have a craft room - I think that is important. Glad you got your Christmas done. And yes, I put things away for safe keeping and I sometimes forget where that is!

  8. I'm with you, this week did fly over! It sounds like you have been busy! Good idea on getting your car sorted before your trip.
    Oh yes, I always put things away in a safe place and then can't remember where the safe place was. Oops.
    Have fun with your Cricut, I have seen them and they look amazing!
    Your walks sound so lovely and how great that the dogs are recognising you now.
    I am glad things are looking better for Paul, what a relief.
    Have a great weekend and fun at the Home Show.

  10. It was a good week to clean and sort and settle back into 'normal' again! The walk sounds like a good time especially learning the dogs' names in your neighborhood! lol

  11. Sounds like you had a busy week. It's wet out today so I might take my Christmas tree down. I enjoy the Great Britsh Sewing Bee too. My daughter and i watch it together apart. Both in our respective sitting rooms but we stay connected on our phones and chat and pick our favourites throughout. We dont ajways agree with the judges. Fun.

  12. I used to sew a lot, now my machine set on a shelf in the closet, all forlorn. Of course when I was sewing I had a sewing room where I could leave projects out until they were finished. The spare room in this house is Mr D's music room. Have a great week-end!

  14. How nice to take that walk every morning so early and with friends and meeting the neighborhood folks and their dogs! What fun! And yes, to a night to just do what you needed to do. You stay so busy I don't know how you keep up with it all! I'm glad you got your car ready for your trip next week. I can't wait to see you! Please text me with approximate time, etc. I can't wait to see what you are going to do with your Cricut machine and also some sewing. I have pretty much given up sewing because I don't have a decent machine and it becomes such a frustration for me that I lose the joy of it. But sometimes I wish I could make things again. Oh well, I need to spend more time doing this...reading and writing and visiting with friends. LOL. Take care and let me know details when you know them.

  16. I always wonder where the week went as well. I know my speeds up when I have to leave the house which is way way more than I would like. Just pulling out of the neighborhood I can feel the time running away. I know about the walking and talking. I have a neighborhood of older folks and we walk and talk and visit with the dogs.

  17. I can't wait until you try your Cricut. You will have to tell us all about it!

  18. Ha I often misplace things into safe places. Good for you keeping up the walking. Glad to hear Paul seems to be improving and I do hope he gets home in time for his visitors.
