January 5th: Monday Musings

Happy Monday, everyone!  I had a great weekend, and I remembered to take pictures!

On Friday, I had Danon (my former part-time job's boss), his wife, Mali, and our mutual friend, Monika, over for dinner.  They all like Mexican (me too), so I made fajitas, tacos, and yellow rice with black beans.  I didn't take pictures of us, but I did get the table with the food on it.  The taco shells and two kinds of tortillas were off to the side.

After we ate, we played a game that involved marbles and cards.  It is like the game 'Aggravation', but is played with cards instead of dice.  It is always fun, and I won two games!! Unheard of for me to win!  Strawberry shortcake was served for dessert, and we moved back to the living room to talk for a while longer before they left.  I was sure blessed when I got the job with the Florida Fish and Wildlife as a Staff Assistant.  Danon and Mali have become great friends.  I worked there for the first three years after Joe passed away.  God is good, all the time!

I got up early on Saturday because I was driving south to Punta Gorda to have lunch with my grandkids, Lauren and Tristan.  Jeremy didn't come because he was working on a project with his brother and dad, but told Lauren to tell me he will be there next time.  We had a great time at a new-to-us restaurant called The Crab House.  Our old meeting place has closed (new owners), and a new restaurant hasn't opened there yet.  The Crab House was quite good, and we were happy.  There are a couple of shops there, and an ice cream shop!  Same beautiful view (we ate outside!) and a great menu!

I had a "boom boom shrimp" wrap and coleslaw that was delicious!

This was just a fourth of the flavors offered!  I got a dip of caramoo tracks!

Lauren shared two photos that the wedding photographer sent to her!  These are beautiful, and I can't wait to see her album when it comes!

I went to church yesterday.  It was my Sunday to be a Greeter, which is always fun.  I started taking Christmas decorations down when I got home.  I gather them all on the dining room table and then get the bins out to pack them away for next year.  I will finish today and tomorrow.  Not in a hurry!  I put the outside lights and decorations on one of the twin beds in the guest room.  Went in there and found this...

I got my laundry done (always a Sunday chore) and made my pork and sauerkraut.  I'm only four days late getting the traditional good luck meal made and consumed.  I'm hoping getting it done in the first week of the new year works!  I prefer the midwestern tradition over the southern tradition of black-eyed peas and collards.  We will have that at the potluck next Sunday at my church.

I am walking this morning with my walking buddies.  Later today, I have to drop my car off for service.  It's a little early for the oil change, but I need new brakes and a tire balance too.  I'm going up to Georgia later this month to see my sister and then hop over to Joey and Darlene's for a couple of nights.  I wanted the car serviced before I make that trip.  It's always something.

Later this week, I have our Bible study on Thursday morning, the Mas Verde dinner group on Thursday evening, and my walking buddies (Susan, Sandy, and Sharon) and I are going to a home show at our Civic Center on Saturday.

I'm looking forward to catching up (again) on your posts.  I didn't keep up since I was gone on Saturday.  Thanks for your visit here today!

Peace and Hugs!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

  1. Sounds like a nice weekend. Where in GA is your sister? Dining outside in January sounds so good. It hasn't been freezing cold here, but definitely too cold to eat outside. Have a nice week Terri!

  2. What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!! Amen!! Oh, that Mexican meal looks so good, and then so does your pork and sauerkraut meal look delicious ! I love that tradition too, and I'm about due to have some pork and sauerkraut. Don't care about the good or bad luck part, just the good eating! LOL. Your lunch with your grandkids looks like it was a lot of fun too. Such a beautiful spot! And that ice cream sounds yummy as well. You look great, by the way!! So enjoy your ice cream! I am happy you get to go to GA later this month! I hope you have a wonderful time with your sister and then with Joey and Darlene. What a blessing to have them all that close! I know it's still a drive to get there, but not as far as Ohio! LOL. Sounds like you have a busy week ahead. Oh that picture of your kitty (which one is it?) is so funny! I wonder what he'd do if the lights came on? LOL. Cats sure are funny creatures. I'm learning more and more with Blackie, who thinks he's supposed to come inside everytime we come out the door. He's very quick and we have to be sure he didn't sneak in when we were trying to leave to go somewhere...that happened the other day, and we had to spend about 5 minutes trying to find him and get him back out before we could leave! He is VERY determined to become a house cat!!! But I think he'd miss watching the birds and climbing his tree. Time will tell...
    Have a great week!!

    1. Casper was in the 2nd guest room, making sure the decorations were okay. He has to investigate anything that is moved or different from his normal.

  9. Wow!!! I don't know which image is my favorite -- but Lauren and Jeremy on the pier is right up there. Your dinner table looks so yummy -- and Vinny never fails to make me grin. I've 99% of my Christmas decorations on the dining room table, but little inclination to go much further right now.
Thank you so much for sharing a glimpse into your days!
