December 3rd: The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in by clicking HERE!

New Year's Day

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions; however, here are today's questions!

 Saturday 9: New Year's Day (2017)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

Welcome to the first Saturday 9 of 2026.

1) In the lyrics, Taylor Swift promises she'll not only be there for the party, but for the clean-up afterward. As we say, move on from the holiday season. Could your home benefit from a thorough cleaning?  It sure could.  I keep up with surface-level tasks, but I don't get to the baseboards and corners...

2) This song describes a party where guests took Polaroid pictures. Have you ever owned a Polaroid camera? Do you have one now?  My parents had one years ago.  I don't know anyone who has one now.

3) Taylor sings that we should "hold on to memories." What special memory from 2025 will you hang onto?  All the visits with family and friends.  There were a lot of them last year, and I loved them all... those who came here and those I visited in their homes.

4) Taylor Swift grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania. Have you taken your tree or other holiday decorations down yet? If you didn't decorate at all, let us know that, too.  I started taking the outside decorations down last night, but I won't get to the inside until Sunday and Monday.

5) Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement, but no wedding date has been shared. Do you plan to attend any weddings in 2026? I've not heard of any so far.

6) Travis' team, the Kansas City Chiefs, is currently 6-10. Not exactly the record their fans hoped for. According to a 2024 Pew research study, 53% of Americans said football is their favorite sport. Have you watched much football this season?  No.  It was a lot more fun watching with Joe or when I have company who likes to watch.  Not much fun watching by myself.  I do try to keep up with the news of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

7) In 2017, when "New Year's Day" was released, Wonder Woman was a hit at the box office. While Wonder Woman's superhero abilities vary depending on which TV show, movie, or comic book you refer to, some of her powers remain consistent: a) immense strength, b) superhuman speed, and c) the ability to almost instantly recover/heal from injury. Which would you like to possess – a, b, or c?  I'll take C, please!

8) Have you made any New Year's resolutions for 2026?  Nope.  I don't make resolutions anymore.  It's been years and years.

9) What was the first thing to make you laugh in 2026?  It was probably something I saw in the comics or on TV.  I can't really remember, so it wasn't that funny.

Peace and Hugs!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning
New mercies I see.
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me!

  1. Fun answers! I laugh at some of the funny memes I see here and on Facebook, especially now the cat ones. Since I've become a "cat" person recently, I am more tuned into those funny videos and memes that feature cats. They really are funny little characters, aren't they? Blackie sure is. Oh, the Ohio State Buckeyes was my mother's favorite team, and when they played Penn State, my father's team, they would have a real rivalry going on! I still root for the Buckeyes when I see them, and Penn State when it's not playing the Buckeyes. LOL. But I really don't watch much football. It's always on here, however, as hubby is a big football fan. We used to have a polaroid camera years ago. It was fun, but those pictures really didn't hold up well and most of the ones I have aren't very good quality. I sure like our cell phone cameras a lot...I just never print pictures anymore, which is sad. I hope you have a nice day today. I think you are traveling to see the grandkids! Be safe and enjoy your day. Happy New Year.

  2. I'm with you on the sports. I do like football and I could watch it on one of our tv's, but Tim doesn't enjoy it and it's no fun watching it by myself. Happy New Year, Terri!

  3. I love that song! The words are so good and a wonderful reminder as to how faithful our God really is. It is also one of my most favorite to play on the piano. I use it quite often as an offertory at church. I hope you have a wonderful 2026. Take care my friend.

  5. I’m not a football fan, but I love baseball. And yes, it’s more fun watching the game with someone else.

  7. "C" would be my choice, too, Terri. Danny and I do keep the surfaces in the house clean, but I'm so grateful for our cleaning lady who comes once a month to do the down and dirty for us. Especially now that the kids have gone home, it really needs so tender, loving care. Blessings always!

  9. "C" for me, please! There's not a day goes by that something I see on FB doesn't make me giggle. Mainstream TV not so much. I'm so blessed to have friends who share the same "funny bone."

  10. Ahh! My house always needs cleaning no matter how much I clean it. lol
My girls had a Polaroid camera each a few years ago but the replacement films were so expensive. I only ever watch American Football when it's the Superbowl and that is just usually for the half term show. It's all about soccer here and I only watch it if my fella puts it on the TV.
