I don't have much to write about and sure don't want to whine about no AC, no stove, no hot water, no clothes dryer... My 220 power has not yet been restored, but I do have my microwave, a way to keep my fridge running and my internet connected. Many don't even have their homes.
A few folks here in Mas Verde did get power yesterday and one of those homes is where my friends Sharon & Larry live. Larry is on oxygen so having power is life and death for him. They have been using a generator but getting gasoline has been a problem. Several people, myself included, gave them gasoline. My generator isn't working so I didn't need the fuel. I'm so glad they have power now! Maybe I'll be soon...
Today is put-the-trash-out day. I have more food to toss. My freezer isn't keeping things frozen solid and my fridge falls short of the recommended 40 degrees or less. It is new, so my hope is that it just doesn't like the very looonnngggg extension cord I've been using. I also have the freezer stuffed full so I'm sure that is a problem too. Sigh.
I have been working these past few days to clean out the two guest rooms. That is where the new flooring will be started. My house...
Guest room #1 is almost empty.
And I haven't even started on guest room #2. I have no appointments today or tomorrow so need to kick it into gear. What makes me tired is that all of this must be moved back and the next room will have to be stripped down... then repeat and repeat and repeat. But I will be so very happy with the new vinyl planks and no dirty white carpets in those guest rooms!!
I would like to ask you, prayer warriors, to please add Makayla's family to your prayer lists. Makayla is the 10-year-old granddaughter of two members of my church small group. Makayla was killed in an accident Thursday and her family witnessed it. I don't know the particulars of the accident but this has hit our church hard. Her picture was posted on FB so I will share it here. She was vivacious, smart, loving, a believer, and cared about everyone. It is always hard to understand... Your prayers will be so appreciated.
Sorry to leave this on a sad note, but that's all I have for today. Wishing you all a good week ahead and to any who are still without power, I hope we all get restored soon!
Not my will, but Yours be done...

What a heartbreak, Terri! I can't even begin to wrap my mind around that sort of loss, but I'm lifting prayers for His peace that passes all understanding.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a job you're undertaking, but won't it be worth it?! Hurray!
Happy new week, my friend!
Prayers for all who knew and loved Makayla. Hope your power is fully restored soon, Terri. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Terri, I will pray for this family. How heartbreaking! I hope your power is restored soon. And good luck with the room redo's. It's a lot of work but I know you'll be happy with the end result!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about this young girl. I'll be praying for her family!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your power issues too and hope they get resolved soon. It has to be hard to deal with for so long and sad to throw food away.
Your new flooring will look so nice, but I know how much work it is to move things and clean things out!
How tragic. Much too young to be gone just like that. I'm glad you came through Milton with no major damage and hope your power gets restored soon.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Terri it is so hard to lose a child. Prayers for Makayla's family. :(
ReplyDeleteI hope your power comes on soon. I know others have been hit, but it will be nice to have power.
Are you sure they are still coming to do your floor?
It will be wonderful.
Yes, the floors will get done. It was supposed to start this week but will now begin a week from today. It is an independent handyman, not a big corporation.
DeleteTemporary inconvenience Permanent Improvement as our road signs here when working on them! Good luck and hope you get your power soon.
ReplyDeleteSuch a tragedy for Makayla's family, Terri. Yes, they are on my prayer list and I will be sure to mention them at church this coming Sunday. Praying that all of you get your full electrical power back soon!
ReplyDeletePrayers for Makayla's family. I think you will really enjoy that plank flooring. I hope you get full power back soon. I hope you get your full electrical power back as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings to all of you. When I lose power I know that I would not be a good pilgram. My heart aches for all who have lost their normal ways. Be brave . Blessings dear friends, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteOh how terribly sad for that family and all who knew this beautiful child. How wonderful that she loved Jesus, and I KNOW He loves her, so she is safe with Him in Heaven, but OH how much her family will miss her sweet smile and laughter, and all that she could have been...we don't always understand these things, but this is when trust and faith have to work overtime to help us get through the great grief and pain of losing someone so dear. Sending prayers and (((hugs))) for all.
ReplyDeleteNow, your situation...I am sorry you are still having to deal with the power issues and losing food, etc. I do hope power will be restored completely for you very soon. Also for your friends. And I know how much work it is to get new flooring...it's like moving, since you have pack up everything and move it back and forth, etc. I know! Been there and done that...all the china closets, books, office, bedroom, oh yes! It's a pain, but you will love it when it's over and done. Hang in there! (((hugs))) for you too.
Oh my...... It really is impossible to understand. I am so sorry for this family and for all who love them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge project!! I'm so glad your electricity is back.
