Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 572

From this Side of the Pond

1. Thursday is National Walk To A Park Day. I know these celebratory days are mostly made up, but some are fun to think about. Do you live close enough to a park to walk to one on Thursday? Will you? The most famous park in the world is Central Park located in NYC. Have you ever been to Central Park? What did you think? If you haven't been is this a place you'd like to see?  I have not been to Central Park but it looks beautiful on TV and in the movies.  I do live close to several lovely parks here in Lakeland, but will not be walking in any of them on Thursday.  Milton will be here.

2. Something you've done recently that turned out to be a 'walk in the park'?  I don't know if I would say my week-long visit with family and friends in Ohio was a walk in the park, but it sure was fun and wonderful.

3. Can you parallel park? Do you have to do this often where you live?  I can when I have to do it but, fortunately, that isn't often.

4. The colors of fall...red, brown, russet, golden bronze, golden yellow, purplish red, light tan, crimson, orange red, and scarlet. Are these colors you like to wear? Is this your season in terms of color? What about your home? Would we see these tones in your home decorating?  I wear a lot of red, but all year long.  All of those colors are lovely and I do wear them all.  There aren't "seasons' like that here in Florida.  My home reflects some of those colors.

5. What part of history do you find most interesting? Elaborate.  I have lately been fascinated by Biblical archeology and the Old Testament studies in Sunday school.  I also enjoy historical novels like 'Gone With The Wind'.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I am waiting for the news to tell us a more true landfall prediction today and will then decide to stay put or go up to the clubhouse and join the other residents there.  All of my immediate neighbors are staying put and that is my plan, unless the news tells me differently.  The clubhouse is not an official safe place but many feel there is safety in numbers.  We will see.  I will get a Whimsical Fashion Fun scheduled for tomorrow, but if we don't have power I will have to check in when I can.  Prayers are appreciated, especially around midnight!

Peace and Hugs!!

From the breaking of the dawn
To the setting of the sun,
I will stand on every promise of Your Word.
Words of power, strong to save,
That will never pass away,

  1. Good morning - been praying for you all. God be with you.
There are nudes running in Central Park I've heard. Don't think I'd like that.
I can parallel park but like you prefer not to.
I am again like you - love bible history - what was going on at the time of Jesus.

  2. I really dislike parallel parking but do it when I have to.
We love Biblical Archeology too. I'd like to go to your SS class.
We're praying for you and the others in Florida! Will be watching for update!

  3. Oh I do hope it skirts around you for the most part. We had a SS class a couple of years ago with a professor from a local university who was a member of another church in our area. He went through the minor prophets and I learned so much about the geography, history, and politics of the times. There's so much to learn! Stay safe and give us an update when you're able.

  4. You have been in my prayers with this storm. We have family living in the Tampa area who normally don't evacuate, but this time they have. We invited them to come here but they opted for a location not as far away. However, we may see them before this is all over.

  5. Praying you will be safe and sound in your home, but just be sure before it's too late to move to the clubhouse. Being with people is more fun, but where would you sleep? That doesn't sound too fun...I'd prefer my own bed too. We shouldn't have as big of a storm here as you may get there, but still we are thinking we will lose power and that could be very unpleasant if it lasts too long. Just praying for all those who did evacuate and those who really should. Praying for their safety on the roads and in finding a safe shelter. And then praying they have a home to come home to. That's the hard part. May God be merciful. (((hugs))) and prayers. Hope to see that Thursday morning whimsical fashion post tomorrow, if I can and if you can post it! I always look forward to it!

    1. Some people have blowup beds in the clubhouse already. I'm not planning to go, but if I do, I won't sleep!! I don't want to leave my boys behind so we will seek shelter in my walkin closet if need be. My bedroom is on the best side of the house, with the wind coming from the southwest, so we shall see. Thanks for the prayers!!

  7. You're so good to care about your boys' welfare, Terri. Animals know when's something's amiss and need their 'pawrent's' assurance they're going to be okay.
Your avatar's so cute! I feel the same way more often than I'd like to admit.

  9. We have evacuated to a home in another zone in our huge county. About thirty minutes. Lovely people. We have so many praying...I hope and pray and think maybe a miracle. Some say Milton has moved...I want him to lessen greatly to protect so many. The waiting is difficult. In one of my columns I have written about this storm...I liked this to the doors in the ARK that is in Ky/Ohio...an amazing exibit...the ark...but the one aspect that got to me...the big huge double doors. When Noah shut those doors, the people outside who couldn't get in...they were gone...what a feeling it was to stand in that huge ARK and think about that. This storm reminds me of that...all of the people who choose not to leave; who put themselves and others in danger trying to rescue them...so many died in Helene...one mayor said...stay here and die...well, we chose to leave and to live...maybe it won't be as bad as it has been predicted, but like Noah...I want to be on the safe side...

  10. You must realize I am talking about those of us here in the place where the landfall is about to happen-not all people in Florida. I didn't make that clear. The surge here on the ocean was bad during Helene and supposed to be worse this time...
