Monday Musings...

Milton is coming. We don't need another hurricane, but here we go. This one is coming right over us on Wednesday. I'm coveting your prayers!!

My weekend was pretty chill.  It is good to be home.  I have begun sorting and purging ahead of my floor installation.  A little done each day and it will get done.

Thursday was dinner out with my Mas Verde group.  There were only five of us at Cheddar's.  The food was good.  I had a steak and was quite happy with it.  Our snowbird friends will begin to arrive in a few weeks so our group will grow accordingly.

I got some cleaning done on Friday and Saturday, including some sorting and purging.  Sunday was Sunday school and church.  It was my Sunday to be a greeter.  We had a baptism which is always a blessing! There was also a 100th birthday celebration for one of our members (who looks like he is in his 70s).  After church, there was a diaper shower for another member.  I took a box of diapers but didn't go to the shower.  Did my laundry, as usual, and got to talk with my son, Joey!!

Today I have an appointment with my insurance guy (Medicare). Tomorrow, I have brunch at KeKe's with my friend Shirley.  Wednesday, we will be praying that Hurricane Milton is more of a lamb than a lion.

Peace and Hugs!

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!!

  3. I will be praying for you and your area Terri. This area is reeling from Helene and resources are stretched so thin. The world is especially heavy right now. Take care.

  4. prayers for you...we are in direct path this time. my son spent his birthday so far today moving my condo things to his house. The name, Milton, is a town near where I grew up and the name of a favorite person of mine...maybe that will bring us some luck...and it will miss us again. In the meantime, hotels are nonexistent...it seems...I will go to son today...they are moving items up...my condo is almost empty...nothing I have is expensive, so it is just for the convenience of not having to replace things...take care please and be safe. prayers prayers prayers...

    1. Thank you for the offer, Sandie. I75 is already creeping along. We are a place where the folks on the coast evacuate to. Been through lots of these in 36 years. I'm prepared. and have offers to stay with friends here.

  8. Danny and I are so worried about your safety, Terri, especially in a mobile home park. He suggests going to a concrete hotel like TownPlace Suites, 3370 Hwy. 48N, in Lakeland. Is that possible for you? Yes, we are praying, praying, praying!!!

    1. Our hotels are already full with people coming in from the coast. Our schools are closed and become shelters. I have good hurricane tie-downs and am pretty safe here. Irma was about the same as expected and we didn't even lose power (our lines are underground here). I have friends who have offered and will decide tomorrow about whether to stay or go. My suitcase is packed and I have extras for the cats. Keep praying, please!

My condo is almost empty...son and family...I am his house now, and items are upstairs...four floors so we will see...prayers for you and your safety. There is a shelter here in school if we have to go. Son is doing so many preps...we are hoping and praying again. I know you will leave if you need to do so. I went ahead and came today as rain supposed to start tomorrow. Also our cars will need to be moved somewhere safe. take care and many prayers.

  11. My thoughts and prayers your way including my friends down in Fort Myers... I don't recall when we had these fast moving hurricanes that came out of the Gulf from nowhere.
A fresh reminder of what sent me on my way back to the North...

  12. Now I'm in the mood for a steak -- preferably cooked by someone else!
You and my other Florida friends are in our prayers -- both at Bible study this morning and now with a fur baby under each arm. Debbie just phoned to say she's evacuating to her sister's place inland; unfortunately, Sandra and Bob are staying put. So glad you're not having to drive into work any longer!

  13. Hi Terri! A steak dinner sounds good. We haven't had steak for a while. We are trying to cut back on red meat. I am praying for you and and all in Milton's path as well as those who have been so devastated by Helene. It takes a good amount of courage to live in Florida. Peace and safety to you my friend! God bless and keep you.
