Lunch at Woolworth's
Prices are soaring and there is no end in sight! Wouldn't it be nice to go back in time to do our buying? Even restaurants were affordable back in the day.

I worked two full time jobs to help put my kids through school. One of those jobs was Woolworth's.
1. Did you ever eat at Woolworth's? No. We had G. C. Murphy's instead of Woolworth's.
2. What would you order from this menu? I would order the cheeseburger platter.
3. Woolworth's had banana splits and Sundaes. Do you like Sundaes? What kind? I do like sundaes and would order a hot fudge sundae with nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Now I want one!!
4. What restaurants are your favorites and what do you usually order? It depends on the restaurant but I do love seafood and usually order shrimp or crab. I like Italian restaurants too and will order spaghetti and meatballs or something with alfredo sauce.
Peace and Hugs!
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow...
(Still no full power here. Maybe today or tomorrow.)
Such a nice photo, what no power? Terri, you should come here...I know, I know...gasoline issues.
ReplyDeleteMy cats are the biggest reason I stayed put. I have a full tank of gasoline but am conserving it as best I can. Thanks for the offer, Linda.
DeleteYou and I would order the same thing and like the same things! Not surprised! LOL. Wondering if you ever went to Lazarus in Columbus, since you grew up in Ohio? I went there as a little girl when we traveled up to Ohio to visit my grandparents and Aunt and Uncle and cousins. We went to eat upstairs in their dining room, and they had a special lunch plate of Stuffing with Turkey Gravy over it, which was SO good! No turkey, just the stuffing and gravy! Seems like we paid something like 25 cents for that! It was a treat for us little girls to go with our Mothers and they had ladies walking around modeling outfits while we ate. That was a LONG time ago! Oh, I hope you get your power back SOON!!! When do you start having your new floor put in? I know you are busy and going through a lot without full power and moving stuff for the floor work. Take time out for you and have a Hot Fudge Sundae! LOL. (your ice cream is probably all melted however!) Take care dear friend, and don't overdo it!
ReplyDeleteYes, we shopped at Lazarus in Columbus often. We got all dressed up to go shopping. Floors start on Monday (this coming).
DeleteWhile in college, my friend and I would go to Woolworth's for dinner... the 99 cent special. Meatloaf was a usual good bet, maybe chicken. Regarding your power... I learned its always good to double check with the power company that they know you don't have full power.
ReplyDeleteI assumed once that they knew by their "computers" that they knew... a couple of days later, well you guessed it.
Yes, I have called and gone to their website. There are 11 of us in the same "boat" here and we have all been calling. Sigh.
DeleteLook at those prices on that menu!
ReplyDeleteYou look cute in your lobster bib. :)
Sigh - I sure hope you get full power today!
I do love both crab and shrimp, Terri. I can't get over these low prices on that Woolworth's menu either. Oh, those were the days!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and praying you get all your power back today!
I remember eating at Woolworth too! Have you ever had a hot fudge sundae at Cheese Cake Factory? You haven't lived until you do!
ReplyDeleteAs a result of reading this blog post, I am having to resist the idea of grabbing Gary and running over to Culver's for a sundae!
ReplyDeleteI remember G C Murthy’s too. Not Woolworth. I am with you on seafood and Italian.
ReplyDeleteI've never eaten at a Woolworth's but I remember my father loved their counter breakfasts.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best burgers I've ever had came from a 'greasy spoon' in the Miami airport. I can still smell the aroma of frying grease and cigarettes, lol. In this case, however, I think I'd go for an egg salad sandwich.
I was a teenager when I had my very first hamburger - at Woolworths!! I was surprised I actually liked it! Yes, I was a dreadfully picky eater, always assuming I didn't like things I had never even tasted.
