Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions.  You can join in HERE!

Michelle

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer questions, however, and here are today's questions!

Saturday 9: Michelle (1965)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Paul McCartney sings to Michelle in French, "Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble." Can you say anything else in French?  Wee wee? Oops... oui oui

2) Paul admits that, as a teenager, he'd perform the first few bars at parties to impress girls. It was John Lennon who encouraged him to "turn it into a proper song." Tell us about a time you were glad you took advice from a friend or coworker.  I am blessed to work with a couple of maintenance techs who know machinery.  When I have a car question, they give me great advice.

3) A big Elvis fan, Paul is proud to own the bass that was played on the 1954 recording of "That's Alright, Mama." Tell us about one of your prized possessions.  I have a few wonderful family heirlooms but one I love most is the Lane cedar chest that was given to my mom, in 1948, when she graduated from high school.  I have promised it to my niece, Sara, who has agreed she would love it when they get a house and have room for it.  I need to get it refinished for her one of these days.

4) John was also an Elvis fan and honored The King by naming one of his cats, Elvis. Do you share your home with any pets? If so, let us know their names.  I have cats and my boys are Vinny and Casper.

5) John was a heavy smoker who often attempted to quit. He tried hypnosis but that didn't work. Have you ever been hypnotized?  Nope.

6) George Harrison fell in love with Hawaii and bought a 63-acre estate. If you could take off tomorrow for a vacation to any of our 50 states, which one would you choose?  Joe and I were going to go to Nashville, TN, for our 35th anniversary.  That would have been in 2020 so no one went anywhere that year and we didn't make it to our 36th.  Maybe I'll get there another time.  I do like Tennessee and the Smokey Mountains.

6) While Ringo Starr quit signing autographs for fans in 2008, he will donate autographed memorabilia to charity for auction. Have you ever bid on an item at auction? Did you win?  Yes. We had silent auctions at lots of events when I worked at the Museum.  I did win a few things now and then.  One I remember was box seats at a Lightning vs Flyers hockey game.  Joe loved it and said he could never go to another hockey game unless it was in a box with unlimited food and beverages.  We were so spoiled!!

7) As a young boy, Ringo had a severe case of appendicitis and his appendix was removed. Do you still have your appendix?  Yes.

8) In 1965 -- before Advil and Tylenol and Aleve -- Americans took aspirin to relieve pain. If we peered into your medicine chest, would we find aspirin?  Nope. Tylenol only.  I am on blood thinners and aspirin is a no-no.

9) Random question: You're at dinner with a married couple who begins to argue. Would you intercede and try to make peace? Or would you just sit back and mind your own business?  I would probably excuse myself and leave.  If it was family, I might suggest they take a deep breath and try to calm down to work it out.  Depends on who the couple is.

PEACE & HUGS!!

  1. Tennessee and the Smokey Mountains are pretty high on my list, too. Megan wants us all to pack up and have Christmas in a cabin down there one day. That's great that your niece wants your mom's cedar chest. The younger generation in my family is not at all sentimental about such things. I'm sure when I go Megan will get rid of all my "treasures."

  3. I love Tennessee and the Smokies. We've been there several times. I'd like to go out east again, and also to Yellowstone where I've never been.

  4. About that married couple arguing: I would excuse myself and leave, if at all possible. People should know better than to argue in front of others like that.

No, I don't have my appendix. Some of these questions are kinda wild, aren't they? Enjoy your weekend.

  5. Fun questions! Now I'm thinking a trip to Nashville/Smokey Mountains would make a great bloggers' get-away. Meet in the middle, so to speak! I don't think my mother's hope chest is a Lane, but I treasure it all the same.

  7. I have a Lane cedar chest that belonged to my husband's grandmother. It has her quilts in it. They were once very popular.
