Love Sneakin' Up on You
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer questions, however, and here are today's questions!
Saturday 9: Love Sneakin' Up on You (1994)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The song begins with Bonnie Raitt waiting anxiously for a call. If your phone were to ring right now, who would you expect to be on the other end? The car warranty calls have stopped for a bit and have been replaced with medicare plans.
2) She likens trying to avoid love to trying to stop the rain. Is rain expected where you are this weekend? No, thank goodness!! We had enough of that with Ian last week.
3) Bonnie was accepted by Radcliffe College but once she got there, she decided higher education wasn't for her and she dropped out to become a performer. Tell us about something you're not sorry you walked away from. I escaped from two jobs in my working years and am not sorry about them. My first marriage fits that category, too.
4) Bonnie's father was Broadway star, John Raitt. Because of his career, the family was based on the East Coast. Once Bonnie got out to the West Coast, she realized she felt more at home and settled in the San Francisco area. Today, do you live far from where you grew up? Yes. I was born and raised in Ohio and now call Florida my home (for 33+ years). It's a bit over 1,000 miles.
5) Prince invited Bonnie to his home, Paisley Park, to discuss working together. The project never happened, but she treasures the memory of her time with a musician she greatly admired. What's your favorite Prince song? I am not a big Prince fan but the first one I thought of is Purple Rain.
6) When she's on the road, Bonnie likes to order Thai food. What's for dinner tonight at your house? I am writing this Friday night. I didn't know what I wanted so I made a taco-like salad with hamburger, Rotel tomatoes, taco seasoning, and Dirty Rice (box mix). Cooked that all together and put it over lettuce, avocado, and cheddar cheese. It was okay and I have more for Saturday. Not my best throw-together, but it filled me up!
7) In 1994, when this song was popular, ER debuted and became a big hit for NBC. Do you enjoy doctor shows? I do enjoy doctor shows and ER was a favorite back in the day. A few of my favorites now are Chicago Med, The Good Doctor, and Dr. Pimple Popper.
8) Also in 1994, Olympic figure skating hopeful Nancy Kerrigan was the victim of an attack. Her rival was rumored to be involved. Without looking it up, do you remember the name of that rival? Tonya Harding. I followed that story. I enjoy watching figure skating and Nancy Kerrigan was really good.
9) Random question -- Which famous Tom would you rather be seated beside at dinner: Tom Cruise, Tom Jones, or Tom Brady? Tom Jones, since I have to pick one. Tom Cruise is bonkers and I couldn't talk football with Tom Brady. Tom Jones would have some stories to tell and maybe a song to sing...
Peace & hugs!
To Him be glory forever. Amen!

Terri, these were fun and I enjoyed your answers. Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI create a lot of throw together meals using those boxed rice mixes, too. Some are very good. Some, not so much. Aldi's has a jambalya mix that's pretty good. They recommend throwing hamburger meat in it, but I'm going to make it one of these days with sausage and shrimp.
ReplyDeleteI'd choose Tom Jones, too, Terri. Your throw-together dish may not have been your best, as you said, but it sure sounds delicious. We do eat lots of repurposed leftovers at out house, too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Haha I like Dr. Pimple Popper too. A lot don't. I remember the Olympics scandal too.
ReplyDeleteI like Dr shows and really enjoyed ER. I also watch The Good Doctor and Dr Pimple Popper.
ReplyDeleteI remember that Olympic scandal too.
I love Chicago Med and the Good Doctor, but must be the only soul who's not seen Dr. Pimple Popper. Probably can't get past the name, lol. Of the 3 Tom's, I'd probably pick Jones - only because he's NOT either of the others. I couldn't even name one of Prince's songs.
