I saw Helen on Friday, after work. She was asleep in her room and did not want to wake up for me. I sat with her for a bit then went in search of one of the staff to ask if she needed anything. She said they could use sheets for her bed so I ordered those to deliver this week when I see her again.
From there, I stopped at Sam's Club for rotisserie chicken. I got two and pulled the meat off them when I got home, frozen in four packages to use in soups or casseroles. Can't beat Sam's chickens!!
I was invited to Wendy's church picnic on Saturday morning. They had it at one of the pavilions at Tenoroc. Danon, Mali, and Monika were there, too. Wendy retired from FWC so that is the connection. Now I am blessed to call her my friend. Her church is very small and only has elderly people attending. She said on a good Sunday, they might have 26 people. They all brought some yummy food to share, though! It was fun meeting some of them and there were two men who brought guitars and played some sing-along type songs. It was an enjoyable few hours. The weather was great and I met a new friend, Suzette. She lost her husband of 56 years a year ago so we kind of bonded over shared experiences. I hope she gets in touch! I didn't take pictures since I really don't know them well enough.
Dee, my neighbor across the street, brought me a bowl of soup she made. I had it for my dinner and it was delicious! Dee, Susan, and I are going to Pioneer Days this coming Saturday. Mali may come with us, too. Y'all who have been around a while might remember me going there last year with Mali. Monika is an artist and has a tent there. I'm looking forward to it!!
Yesterday (Sunday), I went to Sunday school and church. Did some laundry and a little cleaning when I got home. The usual.
That's it and that's enough. I wish you all a good week and thanks for coming by!!
It was beautiful weather to be out and about. And it's so nice to meet new people. We can always find things in common with others. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous weather, for sure!
ReplyDeleteWe're not members of Sam's (or Costco), but that's a brilliant idea about pulling the meat off and freezing in packages. Making a note to pick up a couple birds at Publix this week.
Wishing you a most blessed week. xo
Sounds like a very nice weekend to me. You did some very special things. I am sorry Helen wasn't awake for you. I was surprised that you were asked to provide sheets for her. We never had to do that for Nanny when she was in the nursing home. We did provide extra comforters/blankets for her, but they provided the sheets and other linens. Maybe because Helen went in as Assisted Living as opposed to the nursing home? Just wondering how that works now that she needs pretty much constant attention/care. Just curious. I hope that day never comes for any of us, but we never know. I am glad to hear you made a new friend in a similar situation. I hope you will be able to get better acquainted. Have a good and beautiful week.
ReplyDeleteI imagine Sam's chickens are probably like Costco's -- big, juicy, delicious, and reasonably priced!
ReplyDeleteHaha - we have BJ's here. Glad you had a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for continuing to blog. I like reading what you write. One of your last statements - - the usual.
ReplyDeleteI have come to like "the usual" even more as I get older. When it is anything else, it could not be the kind of excitement we want - - - like storms or sicknesses. However things like your family reunion are good breaks from "the usual".
Have a wonderful week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean it wasn't exciting?? Rotisserie chicken and Sam's Club. My two favorite things. Have a great week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think getting four rotisserie chickens ready for future meals is pretty exciting!Glad you had a fun outing with friends too.
ReplyDeleteThose rotisserie chickens are so good, and usually such a bargain for all the meat.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice, low key weekend. You probably needed it after your busy last weekend.
I love all the friendships you make - everyone loves you!
