Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Forever Your Girl

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

Saturday 9: Forever Your Girl (1989)

1) In this song, Paula Abdul tells her boyfriend he's got to remember, she's forever his girl. How's your memory?  My memory is fine (except for remembering names which has been a problem my whole life).  Do you remember things easily or do you leave yourself notes and reminders?  I have always been a list maker but when I leave the grocery list hanging on the fridge, I can usually get everything that was on it, without it.

2) Paula reassures her lover that she can't be swayed by another man, even if he gave her diamonds or pearls. Tell us about a piece of jewelry that means something to you.  My wedding ring and Joe's.  They live together in my jewelry box now.  I have several pieces that were anniversary gifts, which were purchases from Mayfaire artists.

3) Paula is best known as one of the original judges of American Idol. Without looking it up, can you recall the men who sat on either side of her?  No.  That was a long time ago.

4) Paula has been dancing since age 8 and moves very well in heels. Tell us about your favorite shoes.  My Tom's slip-ons are the best!

5) A lifelong dancer, Paula admits she's not a trained singer. For this record, she worked with producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, who won accolades for his work with singers including Madonna, Kelly Clarkson, Toni Braxton, and Janet Jackson. Who is your all-time favorite female singer?  I don't really have a favorite but always enjoy Linda Rondstadt and Ella Fitsgerald.  Then there is Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, Cher...

6) She advises young girls to "keep the faith and don't lose your gut instinct." How about you? Are you more logical or instinctive?  I rely heavily on my instincts but can pull back a bit to allow logic (or common sense) in...

7) Paula is excited that Richard Branson has chosen her song, "Straight Up" as the theme for his Virgin Galactic Spaceflight company. Would you like to orbit above the earth?  Nope.

8) In 1989, when this song was a hit, the Sears Holiday Wish Book was big on bathrobes. Men and women alike were tempted with brightly colored, belted robes with hoods and patch pockets. Tell us about your bathrobe.  It is navy blue with snowflakes on it and I cut the long sleeves off to just above the elbow.  I rarely wear it because it is too hot for robes and when I have guests staying, I shower and get dressed before I leave my bedroom.  It is also probably 15 years old (or more).

9) Random question: What do you consider your best quality?  I am organized.  I am neat.  I try to be kind and helpful...  sometimes I fail.

Peace & hugs.
To Him be glory forever!  Amen!

  1. Oh goodness gracious Terri...who could forget Simon Cowell on one side of Paula in American Idol and the other guy was Randy Jackson, but I must admit I had to look up his name. I could see his face, but no name! LOL. I haven't watched it since they were the ones on there. LOL. Re:bathrobes. I have a big fleecy pink one that is very warm, but I have only worn it on a few occasions when it was very cold. We seldom have overnight guests anymore and like you, I am usually dressed before I come out of the bedroom. I have a lighter weight housecoat that I bought for the hospital last time I had surgery. I wore it as my "Easter dress" that year that we had the pandemic and couldn't go anywhere for church. LOL. I always enjoy your answers. You are very organized and practical and smart!!!

  2. What a wonderful response to #6! I, too, have a soft spot for the likes of Doris and Rosemary. Whitney Houston.
My memory has always been a point of pride, but lately I'm stumped to remember the names of ordinary things -- and that terrifies me.
    Enjoy this day ... hugs!

  5. I have a big plushy polka dotted bathrobe, but I rarely wear it. I get dressed in the morning, but occasionally on a cold winter evening, I'll put it on over my clothes, or perhaps I'll wear it if I'm sick. I'm not good with names either, and sometimes I totally forget what I was in the middle of saying, and I do hate that. Back when it was Simon, Randy, and Paula we watched American Idol, but not since. It was just a time and season with the teenagers who were teens then, here....but we still say, "It's a NO from me, dog!", like Randy did...

  6. I hadn't thought about Paula Abdul in forever, Terri. I don't even recall that song - lol!
I do worry a bit about losing my memory; my dad suffered with Alzheimer's and I'm tempted to get tested in the future to see if I'm carrying that gene. Honestly, it's because I want to prepare myself and the family way before I am suddenly unable to make any choices about it.
Blessings, and have a great weekend!

  8. I've never been good at names, either, Terri...but good gosh since I had Covid I forget names of people I've known forever or even that I'm related to. I sure hope it goes away eventually because it is terribly annoying. I like the image of yours and Joe's rings "living together." That's so sweet. Sorry I'm so late getting around. Today did not play out the way I had planned. Have a blessed Sunday!
