The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Our hostess, Joyce, has given us the questions!  You can link up and be a Hodgepodger HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 451

1. Besides the predictable name-rank-serial number, what's something you know by heart?  Words to a lot of songs; some Bible verses; birthdays of loved ones; phone numbers; addresses; the names of all of my teachers from kindergarten on...

2. Something recently that had you tickled pink?  I learned something last weekend (at Monika's dinner party) that made me feel very good. My boss shared with me that after my interview, in front of him, his boss, and his boss's boss, when I walked out the door, they both told my boss to call me and offer me the job before I got home.  He didn't call until the next day, but I was happy to accept and now I'm happy to know they all wanted to hire me.  At (then) 69 years old and not looking for a career, I figured I was the last of the last and they got what they got.  I guess the interview went well!! I was tickled pink that he shared that news with me.  Made this old lady feel good!

3. How do you define the word romantic, and are you one?  I'm not a romantic and Joe wasn't either, but love and trust and admiration for each other really said romance in our relationship.  We believed in each other. We had each other's backs. We laughed at the same things. We liked the same TV shows (pretty much). We liked the same foods.  Our own style of romance, I guess!!  No flowers, no boxes of candy, no candlelight, no gifts just because... just love.  I am not expecting to find it again and that's okay.  I had it all!!

4. Finish this verse with your own original thought....'Roses are red, violets are blue...  I'm not good at poetry so I went looking.  This one is meant for me...

Roses are red
Violets are purple
This poem doesn’t rhyme
But at least it is accurate

5. Five little things you are loving right now?  Friends coming to visit; fresh strawberries; always my blog friends; BOGOs at Publix; the love of family...

6. Insert your own random thought here.  With the one-year anniversary of Joe's death approaching (next week), I have been thinking a lot about all of my blessings.  I try to be aware and mindful of them all the time.  There are more than can be counted.  I was so blessed with him in my life and I am so very blessed still by our 'boys' and the entire D'Orsaneo family.  Then there is the blessing of my Kelly clan.  Friends...  Yes, blessed and humbled by so much goodness in my life.

Peace & hugs!

  1. You will most definitely be in my prayers as the anniversary of Joe's death approaches, Terri. I have to say, your attitude and your constant willingness to count your blessings no matter what, are an inspiration to all of us. I can certainly feel God's joy and presence living in you daily.
I loved the story of the interview, too. You deserve to be tickled pink!

  4. We love Publix BOGOs, too. It is crazy that one of the "high" points of the week for us is the new Publix ad on Wednesday. It will either have "our" stuff on sale or not. Their employees at our store are phenomenal and many are casual but special friends.
You have always enjoyed getting together with your friends. I love that about you - - especially the way you have added to that group - - some through the blog like us.
Extra prayers going up for you as the anniversary of Joe's journey to heaven is around the corner.

  6. Well I do think getting through that year of firsts with your positive attitude and faith intact is a wonderful thing. How nice for your boss to share such lovely feedback. I'm so glad you've found a good fit in terms of work. I will be thinking of you next week xo

  7. Wow, what a wonderful compliment from your boss! Of course, just what I do know of you, I would definitely feel the same way if I were in a position to hire you! You would be a terrific asset to any organization, company, etc. they were quite "lucky" to get you! (I know, no such thing as luck, but it was definitely a GOD thing!) Next week is the one year anniversary? It doesn't seem possible that a whole year has gone by already. You've definitely been an inspiration to so many with your positive attitude and sweet spirit. But I know it has been very difficult in so many ways for you...and yet God has certainly been there for you every step of the way. And yes, having good friends and family is a real blessing too. So glad your friends are coming soon. That will be wonderful.

  8. I love reading about your interview. Smart people!
I was just thinking today that the year anniversary had to be coming soon. I'm sure it will be a tough day, but I'm glad you are counting your blessings of having him for all those years.

  9. I love the story of how the guys all wanted your boss to call and hire you before you even had time to get home from the job interview. Even though he waited until the next day, there is just nothing like the confirmation of being wanted and valued.

Great answers to all of your questions.

  10. You are in my prayers as this "anniversary" approaches. Your faith is evident through how you have walked these 365 days. I only "know" you through your blog, but your foundation is apparent.

  11. What a great story about how they all wanted to hire you. If God has something for us, age isn't a factor at all! I'm sure your positive attitude is a huge asset to the office!
It's so funny the things that we can remember by heart. All those long ago things, like teachers' names, neighbors when we were growing up. But ask me what I had for dinner last week and I might not be able to tell you!
A friend of mine lost her husband last July, after a 5-month battle with cancer. Last week was the 1-year anniversary of his diagnosis, and even though she has a strong faith and a great attitude (like you do), it was a bit of a rough day for her. I imagine next week will be for you. I am holding you close in prayer.
    Love,
    Patti
