Let's Go To Dinner
1. When is the last time you went out to a meal with someone special? Tell us about it. I went out a few times last weekend with our son and daughter-in-law, and one of the nights we went with blogging friend, Sparky and her hubby! We all had a yummy meal at a steak and seafood restaurant.
2. Show us a picture of your favorite cuisine. It all depends on what sounds good at the time!! I love Italian, Mexican, Vietnamese, Chinese, Cuban, and good old American diner comfort foods. How can I pick just one? Here's a picture...
3. What is the funniest thing a man/woman has said to you lately? I don't know that anyone has said anything really funny lately. Joe could always make me laugh, though!
4. What makes a gentleman a gentleman in today’s dating world? Are there any left? I haven't been in the dating world since 1983. I can't imagine that being a gentleman has changed that much. Holding the door for you, being respectful... I sure would hope there are gentlemen left in this world.
5. Is there anything you won’t tolerate when out to dinner with your significant other? That is not something I was ever concerned about with Joe. He had excellent manners at the table.
6. What type of ambiance do you enjoy in an eating establishment? Casual.
7. Tell us about the worst public dining experience you ever had, whether it be a date or with your family. Joe and I were having lunch in a Mexican restaurant with my former boss and his wife. My boss picked up his soup bowl and slurped from it. He wasn't just trying to be funny. He also "allowed" us to pay for their meals (after inviting us out and choosing the restaurant). We just laughed about it afterwards.
8. What is the lamest or rudest thing a man/woman has said to you lately? I can't think of a thing.
9. Are you a good tipper? Yes. I always tip 20-25% and sometimes more if the server was really good.
10. Do you ask for doggie bags when you leave food on your plate at a restaurant? Sometimes but it depends on whether it is something that will be good warmed over.
11. What is your pet peeve about restaurants and dining out in general? I will not wait longer than 20 minutes for a table. I haven't found a restaurant yet that is worth waiting longer than that. It's that problem I have with patience.
12. Do you prefer to order yourself or do you ever let your significant other order for you? I usually order for myself but there have been times when Joe ordered for me after discussing what I preferred.
13. Describe your most intimate romantic dinner ever. (fantasy or real). I wrote about that a few days ago... the white truffle pasta in Orvieto, Italy, with Joe.
14. Do you enjoy piano bars? Many, many years ago I was dating a man who loved to sing and we did go to a piano bar a couple of times a month where singing was encouraged. There was a core group there and we were even invited to a party at the home of one of the people where there was more singing. It was fun. I do not sing but enjoyed the fun.
15. If you could go anywhere in the world for dinner, where would it be and who would you be with? Back to Orvieto with Joe. Yes, indeed.
Peace & hugs! Jesus loves us!

For me, a gentleman has gracious manners, dresses appropriately and lives for the Lord.
ReplyDeleteYour response to #7 -- wow. I'm glad he became a "former boss"!!! You and Joe handled it as good sports.
He was a former boss when this happened. We were traveling and stopped in Chattanooga to see him and his new place of employment. He is no longer there and it has been quite a few years.
DeleteWow at your former boss. That's great that you laughed about it after.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Smiles...wow on that boss. You always make me smile when you mention Joe and every time one of these memes come up, I always think of the photos of you and Joe in Italy. I hope I don't upset you, I just know how much you love him. smiles
ReplyDeleteI embrace the memories, Linda, and enjoy comments about him. Thank you!
DeleteOh my goodness, your former boss sounds like one of mine with the soup slurping. She paid for her own meal, but was a horrible tipper. Happy Sunday, Terri.
ReplyDeleteI try to tip well too Terri. Especially right now when so many servers are swamped due to lack of help. I want to encourage them to hang in there.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I, too, try and tip generously -- if warranted. I think for the first time ever, last weekend I only checked the pre-populated 18% box -- the lowest choice. I think when our server chose to mop the floor right next to our booth with a strong-smelling pail of suds was the last straw. Nope, no guilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm shaking my head about your dining experience with the former boss. Not sure if I'd have burst out laughing or been aghast. Good y'all chose to take the high road.
Oh my word! #7, the stories I am reading today. People can be so rude. Loved your answers! Have a nice day!

That story about your boss is incredible, Terri. Can't believe someone would do that! Like you, I'm a generous tipper and enjoy all types of food. My favorite? Danny's pizza made with Naan bread.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
That "former boss" story really makes me wonder how he ever became a boss? People that rude just blow my mind. Loved your answers and your memories of special times with Joe. You had a very special man there, as you well know. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteWhat a story about the former boss. My goodness!
ReplyDeleteI love all your memories of Joe - now he was a gentleman!
