Tuesday 4

An Evening Out

1. Do you enjoy an evening out?  Of course!  It's been a while for most people. Do you have any plans made?   I am going out to dinner with friends tomorrow evening!!

2. What kind of activities do you enjoy?  I always enjoy eating out but also enjoy entertaining at home and being entertained at a friend's home.   A movie, a concert, dinner, plays, walks? Are you in the habit of going out regularly?   Even before COVID, we did not go to movies or concerts or plays very much.  Joe had adult attention deficit disorder (AADD).  He had trouble sitting still for very long in his later years. I do go out to dinner at least once a week and have been doing that since restaurants re-opened at 25%.

3. Ever had an unusual or very interesting evening you would like to tell us about or plans that went off the rails?  When Joe and I were newlyweds, we had tickets for a play at The Kennedy Center. (when he could sit still!).  We had just been seated when my pager went off.  I was on-call for Red Cross Blood Services (where I was working). There had been a bad train wreck in Maryland earlier in the day and we had to rally staff to open the doors for badly needed blood donors.  I did my telephone tree duties and then we did get to enjoy nearly all of the play. Happy I wasn't needed at work to draw blood or process it! You can read about the train wreck HERE.

4. When you were dating, what kinds of activities did you enjoy?  Going to the theaters - so many wonderful opportunities in the Washington, DC, area.  Going out to eat (always!).  We enjoyed Old Town Alexandria for shopping and walking.  Visiting family.  Joe and I were both family people.  I still am and am blessed that our two families are still just one.

Lucy Update:  The Vet said the procedure went well.  We won't know the lab results for a couple of weeks.  She is all bandaged up and I was able to get the t-shirt on her while she was still groggy.  Actually, she is still groggy and is having trouble getting around.  She is making progress. I got her medicine in her but she hasn't eaten or had any water. Hoping she will rally during the night when the house gets quiet.  The Vet Tech told me I could take the bandage off in a week (coming Monday).

On my lap...

Work Update:  It went well. I actually did some filing!! Still no clearance to be on the computer yet so there is training I will need to muddle through once that happens.  I am getting fingerprints done today and will sign an oath of allegiance to the State of Florida... happy to do that! I love Florida! Maybe some real work will be forthcoming once all of this is behind me!

Peace & hugs!  Jesus loves us!

  1. Poor Lucy. I hope she's taken some nourishment by this morning. She looks so groggy. Get well quickly little kittie.
The training part of a job is always so tedious. I know you'll be thankful to have all that behind you. Hope that's soon.
Now, I'm going to go read about the train wreck. It kinda reminds me of 1980 when I worked for the State Of Florida Vital Statistics and all those Death Certificates came in after the horrible wreck on the Tampa Bay bridge. All those souls lost in a single moment ... I cried for days after that. It broke my heart. I processed those little pieces of paper that were someone's final moments with tender loving care and prayers. Never forgot that.
    Sending Love & Prayers xx

    1. Wow, interesting story about the Red Cross. Being a nurse I find that interesting as blood is so vital in that situation. Glad Lucy made it with her onesie and I hope she wakes up today. Anesthesia does the same thing to me.:)

  4. I am so far behind. I am so sorry about your sweet kitty. I hope she heals quickly and does well. So sad.
I love plays, too, but haven't been in a long, long time. We used to have season tickets to an outdoor theater (under a tent) in Door County and I loved that. Good luck on your new job!!!! xo xo xo Diana

  7. Poor Lucy! I hope and pray she'll feel up to drinking and maybe eating a little something this afternoon. Are her siblings being of any comfort?

Tom has the opposite of AADD. Sit for more than 5 minutes in a darkened room and he's likely to be sound asleep. LOL!

    1. None of my cats, now, really like each other. They don't groom each other or sleep close together. When Joe absolutely couldn't stand up to move around, sleeping was the result... in church, at the movies, at a play. I understand! xo

  8. Your photos of Lucy are so precious, Terri, and I do hope she gets well soon! I love eating out, too, especially after being cooped up during the pandemic. Danny and I are doing lots of that while staying at my mother's house. I't's all fun, though I still like his cooking the best.
    Blessings!

  9. Praying Lucy's results are all good. Bless her little heart. And I am glad you are enjoying your new job so far. I am sure it will get more interesting once you can get into the computer, etc. Sounds like you and Joe had some interesting dating times back in the day. It makes a difference when you are adults and employed while dating. When John & I were dating we were in college and poor, so we didn't do much...maybe a movie and a hamburger. I told him now that we are adults and retired we ought to do all the things we never got to do when we were young. But now we are too tired and old to go out at night. LOL. Besides, our couch is much more comfortable than the car. Oops...LOL.

  10. I always enjoyed it when my pets felt whimpypoo -- they are so willing to be cuddled!

Old Town Alexandria -- I do remember that was a charming place!

I'm so glad your work experiences, thus far, are pleasant!

  11. Poor Lucy! Glad the surgery part is done and she will soon be doing better. Praying for good results on the tests.
    Glad work is going well.
What a story about the train wreck!

  12. Boy, do I get your struggles with work! All those hours of training seem to take forever...and honestly, some of it is probably pointless and just something someone in a state office decided was needed. At least that was the case for me.
Poor Lucy. I saw your update on FB. I hope she calms down and gets her meds in her soon.
What fun you and Joe must have had back in those days with all those entertainment choices! I would love that part of city living, but little else.
