My first holiday without Joe was bittersweet. Having Joey here with me was sweet. And today is his birthday so I am blessed to have him here for that too.
Joe and I never made Easter a big holiday at home. Of course, Holy Week and Christ's death and Resurrection were prominent in our daily devotions and we always hosted Easter dinner at our home. I usually made an Easter basket for our guests to take home. I did all of that this year, for Joey, Helen, and Cheryl. It was nice and I enjoyed making dinner for my son and friends. Missing Joe each and every day so Easter was no different.
Joey went to church with me. Our Pastor was back in the pulpit for the first time in two months after his fight with COVID. It was so good to have him back, preaching!! The service, the music, and the sermon were so great.
My table...

Joey has accomplished so much these past days! He did my tax return and Helen's, and made contact with the last of Joe's tax clients (who all want Joey to do their returns this year). Joe's office has been combed through and organized with only the files I need to keep. All the client info will either be returned to the clients or will go home with Joey since he is keeping them. I am so happy to have that work done. Praise God.
I have a dentist appointment today. Ick. Other than that, we will just be working on returning files or loading them into Joey's van. I think he plans to go home tomorrow since we accomplished so much. Would keep him all week if I could!

Sounds like you had a nice Easter. That's great that Joey got so much done. Hope the dentist goes well + is pain free.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful weekend you have had with Joey there and also to be able to still have Helen and Cheryl for Easter dinner. Your table looks so nice! I love the yellow lemon look! That seems to be real popular all of a sudden! I forgot to take pictures of the food too, but like you, I did snap one of the table before we ate, and then again after we ate, waiting for dessert...
ReplyDeleteI am so glad Joey has been such a great help to you. What a blessing! And also that he is able to take over Joe's clients and figure out your taxes, etc., what a wonderful gift. Happy Birthday to Joey today. I hope you do something nice together to celebrate. It is also my sister's birthday AND her husband's birthday. As you know, we already celebrated it over the weekend. Busy weekend for both of us! Have a blessed week. Maybe that job will come through for you...the one that is best for you, that is!! Have a great week. God is with you.
Holidays are so difficult after the loss of a loved one, Terri, but I'm so glad that Joey was with you for Easter, and that Helen and Cheryl could come over for dinner. Good luck with the dentist! I need to see mine soon, too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
So thankful Joey was there as I know it helped get through the holiday. You are wise to sort through Joe's work and let Joey take it home with him. The longer you wait the harder it gets. I know you were glad to have your Pastor back and glad Joey went to church with you. Blessings for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table Terri. And I am so glad you got all Joe's business taken care of ...I know that is a burden lifted.
ReplyDeleteYour table is so bright and cheery. I know you were so relieved to have all that business stuff taken care of. That has to be a huge load off the mind. I pray blessings for each day.
ReplyDeleteI love that beautiful yellow table setting. Gorgeous and the food sounds delicious. Glad you've had this time with your son and have gotten so much accomplished.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, I am so glad that you were able to celebrate Easter with others. I know you'll be sad to see Joey go but thank goodness he was able to accomplish so much and take a little bit off your shoulders.
ReplyDeleteThat table ... you set a nice one. Love the colors. Very festive.
ReplyDeleteI pray that each day will get easier. It breaks my heart that you're having to go through this.
Sending love & prayers my friend. xx
Your Easter meal sounds scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing Joey is! I'm so sorry he's leaving soon
What a beautiful Easter table! I'd love to have one just like that for the sun room. I hope you and Joey have a moment to celebrate his birthday ... and your mouth's not too sore to enjoy some cake! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I just love your lemon tablecloth. I'm all about lemons especially in kitchen related details. Glad you had Joey to celebrate with you this weekend!
ReplyDeleteHe has Risen, indeed!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a nice day. Your table looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteJoey is a blessing and I'm glad you had him there. I'm thinking he takes after his namesake. :)
Amen! He is risen indeed! And I know that truth comforts your heart as you continue to adjust to life without Joe beside you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing that Joey could be with you on this first holiday without Joe.
Wow, that tablecloth is beautiful! And your Easter dinner sounds scrumptious!
