The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thank you, Joyce, for today's questions!  Y'all can join the Hodgepodgers HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 415

From this Side of the Pond

1. What is something you currently find 'taxing'?  I am procrastinating on a major clean-out of drawers and closets.  Not just Joe's things, but mine too.  Sigh.

2. I've seen this question asked in various forms on several social media sites...you can only keep three-

coffee, jewelry, tacos, wine, books, dogs, chocolate, Netflix, make-up, leggings, cheese, cats

Which three do you keep and how easy or hard was it for you to decide?  Cheese, Cats, and Netflix.  It wasn't hard at all.  I don't wear make-up anymore, I have never worn leggings, I don't need coffee anymore (though I do still love it), I don't wear much jewelry, I love tacos but rarely have them... same with wine. I don't have a dog anymore (still love them).  Chocolate was the hardest to give up. My books are on my Kindle and since the list doesn't mention digital things, I could easily eliminate books.  I love cheese, I love my cats, and I am addicted to a few shows on Netflix.  So there you have it.

3. Tell us something you know or have learned about forgiveness?  Oh my. It is so much easier to forgive someone than it is to hold a grudge.  We are instructed by our Lord and Savior to forgive and turn the other cheek so (even when it is hard now and then) I forgive and don't hold grudges anymore.  It took a while to get there, but that is where I am now.  Holding a grudge only hurts yourself - not the other person.

4. What's something you'd recommend that is often overlooked and underappreciated?  Oh gosh, how about plain vanilla ice cream?  I buy it to serve guests with cake or pie for dessert and then have most of the half-gallon left over.  I love it with chocolate and caramel syrup both so could be happy with vanilla ice cream over any of the other flavors most anytime.  I do overlook it, though, when Publix has BOGO on their premium ice cream. I always go for something with chocolate in the title.  I do think vanilla ice cream is underappreciated, though.

5. Give us a favorite word that starts with the letter K and tell us why this is the one you chose. Kiss (do I really have to say why?),  and Kindle because I love my Kindle.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  It isn't random but I have some fun news to share.  I have two sisters and we haven't all been together at the same time for years.  That will change in June.  My sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Greg are driving down, picking up Tammy in Georgia, and will stay with me for four days before going over to Orlando for the rest of their vacation.   They rented a house in Kissimmee. I will join them over there for at least one day (depending on whether I am working by then).  It will be fun and June is also both Patti & Tammy's birthday month.  Looking forward to some sister fun!!

Peace & hugs!  Jesus loves you and me!

  1. Oh how exciting that you will get to have BOTH of your sisters with you in June! That sounds like SO much fun! Be sure to take lots of pictures! If you are working, I hope it will be flexible enough to allow you to do these things with your family. I like vanilla ice cream a lot too, because you can do so much more with it, like you said. I had a little on top of my blueberry pie last night! And I can remember having hot fudge sundaes with my mother when we'd go shopping, we'd always stop at Woolworths and have a sundae (or a chocolate soda, which still used vanilla ice cream) And when we make homemade ice cream it is always vanilla. Then you can add fresh peaches or strawberries to it if you want. On that list, I couldn't easily give up makeup. I still need it...I'm too fair and pale without it. And I wouldn't want to give up books. I prefer real books and don't use a Kindle! I'm just not into electronic books, but I am glad you enjoy them. To each his own preference! I don't have cats or dogs, but if I did, I couldn't give them up either. I don't wear much jewelry either, but I do like to wear my mother's gold bracelet and also her wedding rings and a ring that hubby gave me, and of course my wedding rings, and a watch. I feel naked when I go out w/o those items, but they come off as soon as I come in the house, except for my wedding rings...those never come off. And I love what you said about forgiveness. The Bible tells us that if we don't forgive others, how can we expect God to forgive us? That's a hard one, but you are right. Forgiveness helps us even if the other person never cares or knows it. And yes...Jesus loves you and me! I hope you have "peace and hugs" today too. I enjoyed this with you!

  4. What a joyful reunion to look forward to, Terri! So glad you will have time with your sisters after many years. And I love your answer about forgiveness. When we hold a grudge or fail to forgive, we only hurt ourselves. May we remember what Jesus told us to do, always!
    Blessings!

  7. Getting together with both sisters at the same time is a big deal. I had to chuckle at the leggings. I will get a JJill catalog in the mail and think they are so cute with a long top. I went to Walmart to buy a cheaper pair to try out. I feel as though I am wearing pajamas. It is a mental thing ---I just can't wear them out in public with just a long top. So no leggings for me except in bed:)

  8. books, dogs, coffee...sorry kitty cats! And chocolate, that would be tough...I really like a few squares now and then, especially with almonds. I don't wear make up, only jewelry is my mother's wedding band, and my own, leggings: maybe under a dress, but oh dear that would be a disaster if I wore them as pants, they'd take my picture and put one of those circles with the big red X on it.
Forgiveness is essential if we want God to forgive us.
Also, I agree on vanilla ice cream. I love chocolate bars, but vanilla is a refreshing, clean flavor, not so sickeningly sweet.

  13. Such good answers to the prompts, Terri. The one about holding grudges is wise and so true. I've been on both sides of that, so I see the truth in your conclusions.

  14. Tom's vanilla ice cream is a staple in our freezer. I used to think it was boring, but no. So versatile! My word, won't you and your sisters (and BIL) have a blast? Anticipation's a darn good feeling, isn't it?

  15. Well, I am a vanilla ice cream gal and always have been. I'm so excited for you to be with your sisters, that will be such a fun time for the 3 of you and special memories will be made. Hugs to you!

  16. I have a Kindle too and really enjoy it. Chocolate would have to stay on my list, but it would be better for me if it wasn't!
I love the last part about going away with your sisters. Perfect for all of you!

  17. I totally agree about vanilla ice cream. We almost never eat it, but I got some when Sammy and Bianca came for the weekend recently. Sammy asked, "Why do you always get vanilla ice cream?" I said, "Because you can make it whatever flavor you want just by adding things!"

Sister time!! You know how much I love that. I am so excited for you!

I would definitely have to keep coffee and makeup!
