Monday's Weekend Recap...

It wasn't an exciting weekend but it was a good one.  Backing up to Thursday, I mentioned before that I went to dinner with friends from Mas Verde. It was nice, as always.  On Friday, my new neighbor, Susan invited me to lunch (they moved here in December).  We had a lovely time sharing food and getting to know each other.  When we got home, she invited me in for some ice cream, for dessert.  She showed me her crafting room and the rugs she has been making. She had two finished and offered me one of them, my choice.  Since I love green, that is the one I accepted.  When I got it home, Vinny decided it was made for him...

The ice cream and cup of her favorite Cowboy Coffee was so good and allowed us to talk for another hour.  I will say that she bought the already ground and prepared coffee and used a pour-over method to brew it.  It was yummy smooth.

I am so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors.  Susan's husband, Chuck, is a retired Minister, and the church they joined here in Lakeland has been having him preach a few times and he has been teaching a class or two, so they are settling in well.  The best way to meet people and get involved in a community is to join a church.  Hands down.

On Saturday afternoon, Susan brought me a zip-lock baggie of fresh blueberries that she picked, all washed and ready to eat, which I did last night with some ice cream!! So good!!  It is blueberry season here in central FL.

I mentioned before that this past week has been our Lakeland Sun 'n Fun Fly-In.  The planes have been flying over frequently but by the time I grab the phone and get outside, they are long gone.  So... I swiped these from Facebook.  The Thunderbirds were flying over on Saturday... quite impressive!

On Sunday, I went to church.  I got the attendance report from my friend Cindy. Her hubby is the Deacon who gets the count each weekend.  We had 39 at the early service and 66 at the later service. The numbers are going up.  Praise God.

This is not my photo (grabbed it from their mom's FB) but I wanted to share the absolute cuteness of our two great-nephews.  The D'Orsaneo men are all nice looking, don't you agree?!!

I am off to my annual dermatology appointment today and then back home to clean out some more. The trash goes to the curb tonight so I want to get some more stuff thrown out.  The piles to donate are growing.  I have three resumes out right now and sure hope I hear from one of them. Prayers, please!

Peace & hugs!!  Jesus loves me and you!

  3. The fresh blueberries look so good. I haven't picked any this year but maybe they'll have them at the farmer's mkt this week. Love that beautiful rug your friend made! WOW! It really is a perfect size!

  4. I think Vinnie is right about the rug. He looks quite handsome on it.
The blueberries look so yummy. I may have to buy a small container of fresh ones when I go to the store today. I have lots in the freezer from my stepdad's bushes, but nothing beats fresh!
We live close to our local airport and we're right under the flight path so when the Blue Angels come for the air show in May or June they will be flying over the house low enough we will be able to see the pilots! It's quite thrilling, but very loud!
I agree about church and how wonderful your numbers are coming up. The church I've been going to just shut down for at least a couple of weeks due to members testing positive for Covid. It might be time to look for one a little closer to home since I was thinking about it, anyway.

  5. You live in a wonderful neighborhood. I am glad that you have a newfound neighbor. Our church numbers are slowly coming back as well. Feels good. I love that rug. Vinny reminds me of Gus curled up on the rug in front of the sink. I am usually stepping around Gus while trying to wash dishes:)

  8. Aw, the new rug matches Vinny's eyes! You certainly have some wonderful neighbors. But I agree, the best way to meet others is by finding a church home. Our membership is small, but their hearts are super-sized.
Still praying for that perfect fit!

  9. Your new neighbor is WONDERFUL! You are so blessed. The Lord brought her to your neighborhood at the perfect time. This is a thrill to see. That green rug is beautiful, too.

Like you, I love to watch air shows. I'm partial to the Thunderbirds since they are Air Force.

Keeping you in prayer; asking the Lord for a good job for you very soon!

  10. I am so happy you are getting to know your new neighbors now. They sound very nice, and a real blessing for you since Elaine and Jim have gone home. You are blessed to live in such a friendly community. I love the rug she made, and Vinny looks really happy there. I don't think I've ever put icecream with fresh blueberries before...but certainly have put it with my blueberry pie. I have been enjoying the fresh blueberries on my cheerios and also with cantaloupe...and the new bushes we planted are producing a few each day, which I just pop in my mouth and eat as fast as they ripen so the birds don't get them first! LOL. I am happy your church numbers are going up. So are ours. I know we've had over 50 the last few weeks since going back into the Sanctuary. We really aren't able to stay very socially distanced, however, but we do wear our masks. Everyone is just so happy to be back. We need our church family and worship. Praying for that right job to come along for you. It will in time. The right job is worth waiting for, and God will supply all your need in the meantime. Somehow He always manages to do that. God bless you dear friend.

Glad you have another nice neighbor. The rug is really pretty, and it must be comfy too.
    Fresh blueberries sound so good.

  13. THUNDERBIRDS!!! I love watching them. I love the Blue Angels more though. My father was in the Navy when I was a kid. He was on the Saratoga and Kitty Hawk. So I got to see jets like that take off when I visited him on base when his ship was docked for 6 weeks. It was really cool. I wish I could take my little one to an air show. We haven't had one in a while because of Covid.
