I had a visitor this past weekend!! My friend, Barbara (Sweet Tea & Sandals) came down on Saturday and stayed overnight. It was so fun having her here for a visit. We went to Shell's for a late lunch/early supper and enjoyed our meal. Because we started with the yummy clam chowder (pictured), we both brought enough of our entre home for lunch on Sunday, after church.
When we got home, I introduced Barb to a show on Netflix that I have talked about here before called 'Somebody Feed Phil'. I have watched all four seasons three times and several of the episodes more than that. I think we ended up watching four of them (Tel Aviv, Venice, Rio de Janeiro (I think), and Mississippi Delta) with Barb picking the cities to visit. If you have Netflix and haven't watched this show, I recommend it. There are four seasons and a fifth is coming, so they have promised. Foodie heaven!
We got up Sunday morning, had breakfast and Barb went to church with me. It was great being able to share my church family with her and to worship beside her. The sermon was based on Hebrews 11:23-28 and titled "How To Become Faithful". The takeaway for me was to 'be like Moses"!!
A storm was coming and it was starting to rain when we left the church so Barb was trying to decide if she should drive through the rainstorms or stay over another night. We had our leftovers for lunch and watched the weather radar on our phones. Or course, I told her she was welcome to stay as long as she wanted or needed, but the rain settled by early afternoon so she headed home (a two-hour drive). She did message me that she arrived home safely and that the rain was with her all the way home but wasn't horrible.
It was such a nice visit. We talked a lot and I think we lifted each other up. If some of you are not connected to Barbara here, she lost her husband of 50 years to COVID several months before I lost my Joe. We are connected in our friendship in many ways. She and Tom had visited us here before and Joe and I had visited them in their home. Thank you for coming down, Barb!! I loved having you!

Wonderful post, Terri, with good pictures of the things we enjoyed together. Thank you for inviting and hosting me. Our visit was a help to me in this grief journey. You continue to be in my prayers as you adjust to this season of life. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI loved all your pics. Sounds like a great visit with your friend.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
What an excellent post to read, it just warms my heart that you two were able to have some time together, and go to church together. We also read from Hebrews yesterday, how we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken (12:25-29). One of my very favorite verses is in Hebrews: 13:15." But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." So simple, so good. Thank you for sharing, the pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that y'all got to visit.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you and Barb were able to spend this time together. I know it was good for both of you. I told Barb I was a little envious, but I know this visit was meant for you two only as you have both been through so much in the past few months, things that only you two can understand and share with each other. Maybe someday we can all get together, but for now, I am very happy for you both to have had this weekend. What a blessing for both of you. And I love the pictures of the swans, etc. and the flowers! And you look great in that picture she took of you. You both look great! Thank you for sharing it with us. Love to you both.
ReplyDeleteI read about your visit on Barb's blog and I loved seeing your photos and hearing about it from you Terri. I know you all were able to share things with each other as you know the feelings you both are dealing with right now. I loved seeing the smiles....smiles through tears are my happiest emotions, says Truvy in Steel Magnolias. I think of that line often.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to hear of your visit with Barb!Loving the photos; particularly the one of you with the purple flowers. 'Not familiar with that Netflix show but will be strongly suggesting (LOL) we check it out. Sharing bowls of good clam chowder with my mother at Fisherman's Village, were some of my happiest times. The Oyster Bar's gone and so is she, but memories are forever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful weekend. Your pictures are beautiful. I texted hubby about that show and we're going to check it out. Thanks for sharing about it. We're always looking for new shows to watch.
ReplyDeleteWe watched one tonight. Not bad. I’m sure we’ll be watching more.
DeleteLookin' good, my friend. Thanks for sharing the pics. xx
ReplyDeleteIt makes my heart glad to hear all about your visit with Barbara! You are both such special friends and to know you got to eat together, get out in nature, watch fun tv shows and even go to church together is so wonderful! That's what friends are for...to lift each other up! Love the photos! Your hair looks even better when the wind blows! It's so pretty...you both are beautiful! Love seeing the swans nesting too. How special! Hugs to you both, Diane
ReplyDeleteI read Barbara's post earlier today, and I'm so thrilled that you were able to get together in person, Terri! I know you both lifted each others' spirits. And I love the photo Barbara took of you, too. That's a keeper!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I loved hearing that you were able to spend time with Barb. You and she have such similar stories and I know you were each a blessing to each other.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you had Barb come down. The photos were lovely - I couldn't tell but were those tree roots in water?
ReplyDeleteI am going to check that Netflix show out - thanks.
Nice pictures with you and your friend Barb. I love to look at the swans. I inherited several Lladro swans from my mom. When I see them I think of her and my dad. I love clam chowder! Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteHow precious for you to be with someone who so totally understands your journey! I loved all the things you did together.
