Mid-week Catch-up...

It is nearly bedtime and I haven't found the Hodgepodge so am just catching up on a couple of things here.  I know Joyce is traveling so perhaps I missed that there wouldn't be one this week.

Joey went home yesterday morning.  He got SO MUCH DONE for me.  Wow.  He finished pressure washing the house (one last little bit).  He finished with Joe's office and organizing the client information.  He delivered the biggest bunch (from the farm account) to their new accountant in Winter Haven.  No more boxes in the den/office. We took two BIG boxes to The UPS Store for shredding.  He went through Joe's things and took what he wanted of clothing and jewelry, etc.  Both sons have what they wanted so I can donate what is left when I get around to it.  Yes, I did keep a few things for myself.  It's all good.  It was a productive visit.

The only two things we didn't get done were going to the cemetery because he hasn't seen the resting place yet.  The brass marker isn't in place (they are to tell me when that is done) so maybe the next visit (hopefully with Darlene) we can do that and the marker will be up.  We were also going to go to the shooting range to do some target shooting.  We can do that another time too.  That was to be our fun this trip.  We got the most important things done so both of us gave a sigh of relief that the heavy work is done.  Praise God!  He got home safely. Praise God again.

I am having lunch with my friend, Shirley, today.  I have three Shirley friends and this is one I haven't seen in a while. She came to Joe's service but we didn't get to talk much.  It will be good catching up with her.  Tonight is my church community group zoom meeting. Tomorrow is dinner out with friends.  I haven't seen Helen since Easter Sunday.  I want to limit the visits now so she gets into her new routine there. I will go over tomorrow morning for a bit. She might need me to get some cookies for her. She has a sweet tooth and only had one box left last week.  I also need to go by her house and put the last of the trash out for Friday's trash day.  I will need to check in there at least once a week to make sure all is well.  I'm giving it a few months before putting the house on the market. She will never go home again, but there might be some things she asks for.

That's enough for now.  Thanks for coming by!!

Peace & hugs!  Jesus loves us!!

  2. Wow, y'all have been productive. Well done. We need a Joey too. *lol* How kind of him to help like that. I'm hoping to pressure wash our home this week. Might not happen, but we've nothing but time.
Living out in the country with so much acreage, we have our own shooting range. Our neighbor has even more land and an even larger range. I love it here!
The Nursing Homes in Georgia are almost completely open now! YAY! Steve goes to visit with his mom and HUG HER today. Thank you Lord the religion of fear seems to be slowing down. Time for everyone to enjoy each other again.
    Sending Love & Prayers xx

  4. So glad to hear what a big help Joey has been to you, Terri. So comforting to have family who care and are willing to help in a time of need. Hope on his next visit, you can make it to the shooting range. It's been ages, because of Covid, that we've been able to go to one, and I really could use the practice!
    Blessings!

  9. It sounds as if you have had a very productive week, Terri. I agree with you that Helen does need a while to settle in and you need some time to attend to your own things. So do not feel guilty about that!! I know the big sister type because I am one. We have the curse of the competent.lol Have fun with your friends....what would we do without them?

  10. A good report here -- much done and crossed off your "To Do List." That is such a help with all the other stuff that's going on in the grieving mind. You are in my prayers.

  11. The shooting range sounds fun! I've only shot the air-soft rifle and bb-guns, and I can actually hit the targets, which impresses my sons, which is always nice. We have a big enough yard that the kids can shoot back there, but they do like going to the range once in a while, I guess I should get in on it! It sounds like you had a really good visit with Joey, thank God for help like that! It's so nice you have friends to keep you busy, too.

  12. I am thankful that Joey was able to help you with all of that. Those are huge things that needed to be done. Those first months transitioning to life without Joe but getting those tasks done that have to be done to transition you to life on your own are not easy so help is good. I do hope Cheryl settles in and starts liking her new digs. I have a little self protection pistol so I am familiar with the shooting range. It is not something I truly enjoy but I want to be able to take care of myself in a crazy world, so I found a pistol I felt I could use comfortable and Jeff makes me periodically go to keep me fresh on its use.

  17. Sounds like a most productive time for you and Joey. I know there is so much to take care of but one day at a time and you will get it all done. I think you are doing so well. Sending hugs your way!

  18. What a blessing Joey is!! That was a lot of important stuff he helped you to get done!

I was thinking yesterday about the farm you two used to go to each week. That was such a nice outing and your pictures of the horses were so wonderful. I guess there's no need to go there anymore now. That's so sad.

I'm glad you have so many friends to do things with.

  19. Wow, you and Joey sure got a lot accomplished in a short amount of time. And saving the shooting range and the cemetery for the next trip was probably good. That will give you something to look forward to and also to be better prepared for (cemetery), although I don't know that we are ever prepared for that. But having some time to grieve and heal helps. I am so glad you have so many good friends nearby as well. What a blessing that is. And you are wise to not visit Helen quite as often, and let her adapt to her new home. I am sure she will be fine. And you are wise to not sell her house too soon as there may be things that come up that are needed in the future. However, I know you don't want to let it sit empty for too long as that can create other issues. Again, God's timing is always perfect, and He will direct your path as to when and how, etc. This was a wonderful post. I love to hear how God is helping you day by day. Those are answered prayers. (and blessings).
