I don't have a lot of new photos so I am mixing in some of the older photos I have uncovered while cleaning things out.
Kali's parents for lunch. The food was good and the company great!
I had a call late yesterday to tell me I don't report to my new job until Monday. Okay with me and sure makes more sense than starting on a Friday at the end of the month. So, I am a woman of leisure for another day!! Hooray! I am working through a temp agency and they are the real boss for 90 days, then Ed can decide to keep me or not (or I can decide to stay or not).
Helen is being moved to Memory Care today. I told them I would be over after work to get things that don't fit in her new room. She will only have one closet instead of two so half of her clothing will need to go back to her house. I think the furniture will fit (hope so!). I am going to stay away and let them get her settled. They know best. I did get a tour of the facility (same campus and company) and got to pick her room out of three that are available. This is going to be so much better for her with more activities and more staff. There is a dining room, a beauty shop, etc. The only big changes are access to outside and staff more trained for memory care. There is a central courtyard where they can go for sunshine. Visitors are more closely screened and need a pass to get in. It feels more "homey" than where she has been, which is bigger and not as monitored. Some residents in assisted living are still driving (!!). Memory Care will work better for her now.

Enjoyed seeing your pictures and sounds like Helen will be in a better place. Happy weekend to you too my friend.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.. you got what we in the North call a "snow day" -- for today... :)
ReplyDeleteLoved walking down memory lane with you, Terri, as you shared old family photos. And that's such good news about Helen and your job!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend!
You are a true friend to Helen. Thank you for taking such good care of her. Yay... an unexpected free day:)
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing your pics. An extra day off is a nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteHelen will be fine once she settles in there.
Have a great day!
I enjoyed seeing your family pictures. In fact, Rocky Fork is probably only about an hour to 1 1/2 hours from where we live. Hubby and I will sometimes take a drive up to the lake and just relax and enjoy watching the boats and people. Hope you have a great weekend and that you enjoy starting your new job on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Helen will have a place to be comfortable. It helps to have more staff to help people that have memory issues. You sure have been a good friend to her. I hope you have a good weekend and the job is just what you need! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your family pictures and those of Helen at Dennys. She is in my prayers today that she will cooperate with these changes, feel safe and at peace.
ReplyDeleteI pray for you, as well, with all that life circumstances ask (and sometimes require) of you. Your continued trust in the Lord is serving you well.
Helen is so lucky to have you. Enjoy your day of leisure!
ReplyDeleteI know the decision for Helen is the best one so remind yourself of that when she has an unhappy day. Love seeing the old pictures.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I LOVE seeing your olden photos ... keep 'em coming! Helen really looks good in these pictures. But ya, I know; sometimes that's deceiving. So glad the decision was made to move her to a better 'neighborhood.'
ReplyDeleteHave a super rest of your Friday ... hugs!
I enjoyed seeing your "oldies but goodies" photos! Always love to see old family photos, even if I don't know everyone in them. Sometimes I don't know everyone in our old family photos either. But I still like to see them. I am glad you didn't have to work today, and you had time to do some other things. I hope Helen will be happier in her new "neighborhood". It sounds like a better situation for her all the way. You are very much in my thoughts and prayers each day. I am glad you have so many things to keep you occupied. I think it is good therapy...as long as you have time to just rest and relax too. Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love your old pics - precious pics of your siblings and your mom.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good plan for Helen and I agree that it's good for you to let her settle in for a while. I think she has a resemblance to the queen in the pics you shared today. Maybe it's the hair.
Praying for you as you start this job!
Mari, everyone says she looks like Queen Elizabeth and she loves hearing it! I will have to tell her you said it, too!
DeleteLike you, I can get lost going through old photos, so much fun and brings back such great memories. I do hope Helen will adjust very well to her new surroundings. Have a wonderful Lord's Day!
