Extraordinary Penpals

Hi! I'm your host Bev Sykes of the blog "Funny the World". . Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves!

Stolen from League of Extraordinary Penpals

1. What are your plans for August?  Nothing new from the past five months.

2. Review the first half of 2020.  Not fun and ho-hum.

3. A place you’d go if money were no object.  Back to Italy then Scottland, Ireland, and Germany.

4. Who was your childhood best friend? Elaine.

5. The city or town you love most.  Lakeland, FL!!

6. How do you spend hot days?  At home, in the air-conditioned house.

7. Are you a skilled cook or baker?  Passable but not really highly skilled.

8. One thing you wish you could currently do.  Hug people!!

9. A time when you learned your lesson.  I am 68 years old. I've learned lots of lessons.

10, What consistently makes you laugh.  I always laugh at slapstick comedy. If you fall, I will laugh while trying to help you up (sorry!).

11. Routines that bring you calm and peace.  Just normal life with Joe.

12. Who annoys you the most?  Idiots on FB or in the news.

13. Describe some of your favorite household items.  Big things like AC and running water, or little things like my laptop, my Kindle, our TV, the coffee maker...

14. What have you gotten better at?  Forgiveness.

15. Share a random memory.  When I was (probably) four years old, our backyard was flooded and my grandma waded out in the water to get my tricycle for me (I was worried about it).  My mom said, "Mother, you will ruin your stockings!"  I remember the exchange between them, but grandma waded out anyway.  She probably did ruin her stockings (back when all women wore stockings all the time). But my tricycle was saved from drowning!

16. How many pairs of shoes do you have?  Three that I wear a lot, but there are a bunch in my closet.

17. Who do you go to for encouragement?  Joe.

18. References you make that others don’t get.  Gosh, I don't know.  Kids don't get historical references because they aren't taught history anymore. Sad.

19. What are 10 things you consider essential for you?  Our home, AC, laptop, Kindle, phone, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, washer/dryer...

20. Is there any accent you wish you had?  I like my American accent. It still has a touch of midwestern, sometimes a little southern, and is all mine.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace & hugs!  God bless!

  1. (((HUGS))) I agree about missing HUGS. We will go to church this morning and "air hug" our friends as we great them from a distance behind our masks. I am sad about that, but I am thankful that at least we are able to be together and worship the Lord together again. So I will be thankful. I loved all your answers. I love your "accent", a little "midwestern", sometimes a little southern, but it's all yours...That sounds like me. We've moved around a lot in our 51 years of marriage and got teased about our southern accents, but we somehow adapted and picked up midwestern lingo in Ohio and Michigan, and then had to learn New Englandese in NH and Maine, and then brought that back with us to Florida again. People say we don't have any accent at all...which is nice...American to the core! Have a blessed Sunday!!

  3. Terri, I want to hug people again. Especially family and all the little ones. My great grandson is almost 9 months and I have only held him 4 times. I want to hug my daughters, grands, and all their families. I want to hug my siblings and friends. Heck I'd even hug strangers. LOL Blessings to you, stay safe , xoxo, Susie

  5. There are so many conveniences we enjoy in this day and age. We should all be more grateful for them, especially air-conditioning! Oh, and I love the story about your grandmother rescuing your tricycle. What a great memory to have.
    Blessings, Terri!

  13. I beg to differ with your answer to #7 because I know you were a professional baker at one time and you were (and still are) very good in the kitchen!

#15 is a sweet story! And like you, I have many pairs of shoes but I wear 2 pair in particular just about every single day of the week. We are so incredibly blessed!

  14. I LOVE that story of your grandmother saving the tricycle! Nice, too, our being just about the same age and can relate to the same things. Oh gosh. Soooo many questions today, I was too overwhelmed to participate -- but one or two might make for future blog fodder. (Hmmmm.) HUGS!!!

  15. What fun this was! I have a serious Southern drawl! And a lot of shoes in my closet that I never wear. And yes...I miss hugging! Think I'll go find my hubby and get a hug right now! You get one from Joe too! Enjoy your day!

  16. This was a fun one. I would love to travel to the places you listed.
Some of us are hugging at our church, others just greet verbally. But it's good to hug again.
I love the story of your Grandma. She loved you!
I always think I don't have an accent, because I feel like I sound like people on tv. However, I've been told I do!

  17. I laugh at slapstick, too. I hate it when I giggle and someone is truly hurt or just embarrassed to death...I can't help it! Yes, those FB idiots. Love the story of your grandma wading out to save your tricycle. Grandma love is a powerful thing.
