Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Saturday 9

I See Love

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

I See Love (2010)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.

1) This is the theme from Mike and Molly, a TV show that ran from 2010 to 2016. Were you a fan?  I have never watched even one episode of this show.

2) Molly was played by Melissa McCarthy. Today she's one of Hollywood's best-paid actresses, but when she began her career, she was barely scraping by. She recently recalled the time when, as a struggling actress, she was rejected at the ATM because it only gave out $20s and she didn't have even that much in her checking account. How often do you visit the ATM? Several times a week? Several times a month? Never?  Rarely do we visit an ATM because when we need cash, we get extra at the grocery store. We use our debit card for nearly everything and rarely even need cash these days.

3) When she was broke, Melissa couldn't afford blueberries and avocados.  Now she savors them. When you're a few bucks ahead, what do you splurge on?  Shoes or purses.

4) Mike was played by Billy Gardell. He was working at a comedy club, cleaning the bathrooms, and answering the phone. He used to crack jokes with other employees and finally one of his coworkers dared him to go onstage on "open mic night." A comedy career was born. Tell us about someone who pushed you to make the right move.  I don't know that Joe ever pushed me to make a decision about my work or going back to school but he always supported my decisions.

5) On the show, Mike's best friend was his fellow officer, Carl McMillan. Carl was not especially motivated and still lived with his grandmother, well into his 30s. How old were you when you moved out of the house for good?  Two weeks after my 19th birthday when I got married the first time.

6) Mike's and Molly's mothers are different as night and day and frequently did not get along. Have you ever had in-law trouble?  I have been so blessed with in-laws!  I missed my first husband's parents more than I missed him after the divorce.  They were great.  Joe's folks took me in and loved me too.  His parents were wonderful and I loved having his mom come down for a couple of months each winter to stay with us. We always had so much fun!!

7) This week's song was written by Keb Mo. He switches among several different guitars when he works -- electric, acoustic, and resonator. Can you play the guitar?  I learned a few chords a long time ago and strummed a bit, but no, I can't play the guitar.  I messed with it enough to get little calluses on my fingertips.

8) In 2010, when this show premiered, Apple introduced the iPad. Do you use a tablet?   My "tablet" is my 10" Kindle Fire.  I have never used an Apple product.  PCs and Androids in this house.

9) This week's random question gives you an opportunity to brag: What's something you do better than most people?  You know, I have never really excelled at anything. I am one of those people who figures out how to do something and then say "okay, what's next".  Jack of all trades and master of none. I get bored too fast to stick with something long enough to truly excel so there are more people that do things better than me than the other way around. I can do lots of things 'okay' but not many things really 'great'.

Thanks for your visit today!
Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  1. I don't carry much cash either. However we do almost everything on our credit card and then pay it off each month. Even our utility bills are automatically deducted from it - - except the gas because they charge a $3 service fee. I pay fifty cents for a stamp and let them pay an employee to process it!
We have an Amazon Visa card that gives us points back each month for purchases. We end up with $30-$50 of free merchandise monthly from Amazon. It is where we buy our vitamins, cat food, some things like the eye drops I use regularly, etc.
Our daughter and son-in-law subscribe to certain grocery items through Amazon so they are automatically shipped - - - unless they change the order. However each month, he checks the prices against Wal-Mart to make sure he has gotten the best price.

    1. We get nice cash back on our Amazon card too. My air fryer was nearly free! I know... not really free but we used cash-back to buy it. Nice!!

  2. A lot of the Saturday 9'ers got married young!
Your answer to #9 could be mine. I learn how to do things, but then they just don't hold my attention. I like the idea of crafting, knitting, etc. but get so bored with sitting there doing it.
I enjoyed your answers, Terri. Have a great day!

  4. PCs and Androids for us, too, Terri! And like you, I never even heard of this show until it was mentioned here. Don't think I missed too much - lol!
    Blessings!

  5. We've had our bank accounts hacked a few times which is a nightmare to try to get your money back so we use cash often. I loved Mike and Molly.
    Have a great day!

  6. I have only seen bits and pieces of this show as I wait for the Big Bang reruns to come on! Interesting facts about both of the stars of the show. I guess it pays to just keep plugging along at something. I was blessed in the inlay department as well Terri. And believe me, you have to be a master of numbers to do the work you did for so many years. I can keep my accounts balanced but a math whiz I am not.:)

  7. #2 is so me...I only get cash for when I am getting my hair done. Also #9...I am the same way. I am sure we sell ourselves short, but I feel that way. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

  8. I think I've been carrying around the same $1 bill since March. (*grin*) Like Lynda, I use my VISA for everything. (Well, except the mortgage and water bill.) Come December 1 I'll redeem my points for gift cards for the grands. Won't I be in trouble if I accidentally happen upon a toll road? I like Melissa McCarthy, but never heard of that show. Oh, and you'll never find an Apple produce here at Casa Guca.

  9. I guess I am a "jack of all trades" too. Nothing spectacular about anything. I enjoy reading and writing and photography, but I don't excel in any of them. There others who are professionals and I am very much an amateur. I prefer to keep it that way. When you try too hard to excel at something it's not fun anymore. It becomes work. Don't need any more of that! I also left home to get married at age 18, but I was almost 19. We were much more mature back then than the 18-19 year olds of today. I always enjoy your answers. You are good at having good common sense and kindness!

  11. During the years of our friendship, it has become clear to me that you have good sense. Really. And good sense is in short supply in today's culture. You are truly blessed.

  12. I never saw this show either.
I use my debit card for most everything too.
I also got married at 19 and left my parents house then.
I think you are good at many things! You had to have been very good at your job at the Art museum to stay as long as you did. Plus you are kind and just smart at life, which is getting rarer all the time.
