That look is about as exciting as it gets! LOL
On Thursday we went out to dinner with Tim & Judy, this time to Cheddars. It was fun and the food was very good. I tried their new Cajun Pasta dish which was spicy and delicious! We will go out with them again this Thursday to Shells. Seems like it may become an every Thursday "date" which is fine with us. We enjoy their friendship. They are newlyweds! It is an interesting story. Tim lost his wife several years ago and Judy lost her husband several years ago. Judy and Tim's wife were best buds and the two couples traveled together all the time. Tim and Judy started dating and got married late last year. It is fun to listen to their stories.
Friday came around and we spent the last day of July doing not much of anything. Going out to get the mail was the most excitement we had. We have been collecting our neighbor's mail too. They have been gone for a couple of weeks but got back late Saturday. They had no trouble traveling by car across borders. Interesting.
On Saturday, Helen and Cheryl came over with pizza in the late afternoon. We called it our lupper (lunch and supper). It was one of those Shaq-a-Roni pizzas from Papa John's and it was really good. We had ice cream drumsticks for dessert and then sat and talked for a couple of hours. Helen is doing so much better these past days and is submitting to all of the tests willingly. We are happy about that and hope her lapse a few weeks ago was just "one of those things" that happen when you are 92 years old.
We went to church on Sunday morning and the count in-person was 69 people! We are still safe with a row between and seats between couples/families. We wear masks inside and don't linger afterward. I feel so blessed that this is working for our congregation! Joe and I went to Uncle Nick's Italian Deli for subs after church. The tropical storm/hurricane/tropical storm Isiais did not affect us here at all. We had a few sprinkles Sunday morning with a light breeze. Praise God.
Today I am off to the doctor with Helen EARLY for both of us. Her appointment is at 8:30 and it is way up on the north end of Lakeland so I will pick her up at 8:00. I promised her breakfast afterward, just the two of us. That will be fun.
Thanks for your visit!
Peace & hugs! God bless!
.

Oh good, you are up and getting ready for your appt. with Helen this morning. I hope you go somewhere fun for breakfast after. Sounds like a nice way to start the morning for both of you. Hope her tests, etc. all come back good. I enjoyed your story about your friends Judy and Tim. Glad it had a "happy ending" for both of them. Glad you are able to attend church each week now. So are we, and we are so thankful. Yes, we sit apart and wear our masks, but the service is short and we enjoy being there so much. Then a group of us go out to lunch afterwards, including the pastor and his wife. Funny, we can sit and visit at lunch at the same table with no masks, but, oh well...just one of the things we are having to do these days...and we are thankful for the blessings the Lord gives us. Have a blessed and beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am up! Tim is 81 and Judy is 77 (I think). Young at heart though! They are so cute together.
DeleteI am thinking going to the mailbox is your only excitement can have some positives in this day and age. Of course, I am trying not to cry as Tucker goes to daycare today.
ReplyDeleteI was relieved that the tropical storm decided to stay just that and a bit offshore. Good news!
going to the mailbox is a big event for me every day even if I just get junk mail! since I dont drive any longer, dont go many places. Hope the doctor visits go well..
ReplyDeleteAbout the only thing yet back to normal here in the retirement community is that if we choose to have dinner the tables have table cloths now!! It is those little things isn't it??
ReplyDeleteSure is!
DeleteMe thinks, Terri, they are only picking on NY'ers, folks with NY plates. My bil got stopped coming back from PA which is only an hour drive. We also know of others who were stopped...we have neighbors who drove to Chicago to visit their grandkids and were ordered to quarantine. We were "spot checked" the other day for insurance, driving on our local road...so, yeah.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that you all are getting out and about with friends, Terri, and glad to know Helen is showing signs of improvement. Hope all goes well with her doctor's appointment; you are so sweet to take her there!
ReplyDeleteBlessings for a great week!
Most days going to the mailbox is my excitement too. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Pizza AND ice cream? Yummmmmm! I'm glad to hear Helen's back-to-normal(ish); what a load off yours and Cheryl's mind.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a sweet story about Tim and Judy. They sound young at heart, and that's what matters.
What a sweet story of the newlyweds. I am a romantic I guess.:) We love Cheddars but the closest one is in Huntsville so we do not get there often.
ReplyDeleteAhhh I love a fairytale with a happy ending.. good for Tim and Judy.
ReplyDeleteI dont think we have a Cheddars near us...but I would love to try their menu. It sounds like you had some good eating this week
Its good to hear that Helen is improving.. prayers that she will continue to do so
Gosh our church opened and did exactly what yours is doing - and then closed in two weeks - how I miss church!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good few days and sometimes excitement can be overrated lol. I hope Helen gets on well today.
ReplyDeleteLupper - I like it :)
ReplyDeleteWe havent eaten at Cheddars in forever. I need to look at their menu to see what they have now
I'm so glad Helen is doing better! Sounds like you had some good days, and I love how you two get together with Helen and Cheryl and just have a nice relaxing time.
ReplyDeleteOur church has been meeting more several months now with no issues. :)
How fun to have a weekly dinner date with friends! I'm glad things are going well with Helen...I've been keeping that in prayer. It sounds like your church has found the right way to handle things. I still need to find a church, but this isn't really a good time to be looking. Sigh. Have a great week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend to me! I love all that good food you had!
