CSI: Who Are You?
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme. Saturday 9: Who Are You? (1977)

1) This song, originally recorded by The Who, was the theme of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which ran from 2000 to 2015. Did you watch it? No. Were you a fan? I never watched even one episode. Not sure why because I enjoy shows like that.
2) When the show premiered, Gil Grissom (William Petersen) was the CSI team's supervisor. Gil's mother was deaf, and so he was fluent in American Sign Language. Can you communicate using ASL? No. I did learn the alphabet when I was in high school so my girlfriends and I could "talk" in study hall. I don't remember all of the letters now.
3) His assistant is blood-splatter analyst Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger). Catherine's family moved often, which made it hard for her to get traction in her studies. She finally just dropped out of high school. She later got her GED, and even graduated from college. Have you ever considered going back to school? I did go back to college and graduated with honors at age 50.
4) Though set in Las Vegas, most of CSI was filmed in Santa Clarita, CA. Santa Clarita is also home to Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. Do you enjoy roller coasters? I loved roller coasters when I was younger and enjoyed them with our granddaughter (who loved them) but not anymore. Too old for those jolts now!
5) The vocalist on the CSI theme, Roger Daltry of the Who, made a cameo appearance on the show during season 7. Do you have a favorite Who song? Pinball Wizard was the first one that came to mind.
6) CSI became a franchise, followed by CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. If we could organize a Saturday 9 field trip, which of these CSI cities would you prefer we visit: Las Vegas, Miami or New York? I have never been to Las Vegas so let's go there!
7) In 2000, the last original Peanuts comic strip was published. How many Peanuts characters can you name? Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, Pig Pen, Lucy, Linus...
8) Also in 2000, media giant Time Warner merged with America Online, the email provider. It's estimated that 74% of us check our email at least once/day. Are you one of the 74%? Yes, I check it at least once a day but not as often as I did years ago when that was all we had. Now it's texting and messaging with FB that gets more of my attention.
9) Random question -- Did you more recently cut and paste, or delete? Cut and paste!

Well, I have a funny about that song. I remember when that show was on...my husband watches that kind of show which is probably why I stitch and read while TV is on!!! I asked him why did they have a song about New Orleans when the show was based in Las Vegas. If you listen to it, it sounded like to me it was saying Newwww Orleaaannns ---uhh uhh uhh... Now, every single time he hears it he giggles at the thought. The thing is I have actually seen The Who in person. They are one of the most versatile groups and have such a wide variety of songs, but I was young when I saw them and they tore up the instruments at the end and I thought they were crazy.
ReplyDeleteI watched CSI and a few seasons of Miami but not NY. I had read somewhere that they going to start up CSI again. It would have 2 main people, Gil + Sara ( I might have that name wrong).

Never been to Vegas? We have, actually when hubby was stationed in San Diego we drove over to elope. We didn't elope though. ANYWAYS, Have a great day friend.
ReplyDeleteI only recall watching 2-3 episodes of the original CSI. Like you, I've no idea why not more -- those story lines are right up my alley. Must have been up against another of my favorites? I don't think they print enough money to convince me to climb aboard a roller coaster. LOL. Happy Saturday!

Loved your answer to #2. My girlfriends and I also learned sign language in school so we could talk to each other! We liked to talk about the boys because they were too dumb to figure it out! LOL. I still remember the alphabet. Never learned the other "signs". Sometimes John and I talk to each other that way too, if we are in a place where we can't "talk" and he wants to get a message to me...like, "let's go!" LOL. Never watched CSI. I wouldn't say I loved roller coasters, but they are better than things that spin. I just don't go upside down or spin around. I have real issues with motion sickness.I don't think I'd like any of those cities. Been to NY once, bypassed Miami once to get to Homestead many years ago. Never been to Vegas, and it really doesn't appeal to me. I guess I'm just a country girl. I just cleaned out my email messages again. I hate how much junk mail there is. I keep unsubscribing to things, and still they keep coming. The only thing I look for are the notices that people have left a comment on my blog now that I have to use comment moderation due to nasty notes. LOL. Have a blessed weekend.
