Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam Winters for this week's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Could've Been

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Could've Been (1987)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This wistful song is about a love affair that ended. What song reminds you of a long-ago love?  This song was popular when I had my first "steady" boyfriend in high school. He would sing it to me...  "I'd Like To Get To Know You" by Spanky and Our Gang.  It was more than 50 years ago and I still smile when I hear that song.

2) It was written by Lois Blaisch, a singer-songwriter who performs at clubs around Los Angeles and has sung outdoors at Disneyland. Would you prefer to attend a concert indoors, or outside under the stars?  The younger me would say outside but now, please make me comfortable with assigned seats in a theater with air conditioning!

3) This week's featured artist, Tiffany, appeared on the TV talent show Star Search when she was just 14. She came in second. Though she was disappointed, she admits she learned from it. She studied the singer who won and says it made her a better performer. Can you recall a time when you weathered a tough time and came through stronger?  More than one time but certainly when my first marriage ended.

4) Early in her career, she toured Alaska, opening for country legend George Jones. Have you ever visited our 50th state? No, but I would if I could. One of my high school classmates lives there and he posts beautiful photos on Facebook.

5) Tiffany provided the voice of Judy Jetson in the 1990's Jetsons: The Movie. Which cartoon did you enjoy more: the space-age Jetsons or the pre-historic FlintstonesI liked them both.  Can't say one over the other.

6) In 2007, she appeared on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club and lost 28 lbs. Are you making an effort to stay fit during this stay-at-home period?  I'm not making an effort but am keeping up with the stretches and exercises my physical therapist gave me to work on until I can get in for an appointment again. I've lost 50 pounds since I retired and am trying to keep that off and get down a few more. I am not being crazy about it though.

7) In 1987, when this song was popular, Aretha Franklin became the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What's your favorite Aretha song?  I LOVE Aretha Franklin.  How about this one...

8) Also in 1987, third-generation race car driver Marco Andretti was born. Are you a race fan?  Nope. I have relatives who are but I just don't get it.  I am a classic car fan though!

9) Random question: Do you find it easy to sit still, or are you fidgety?  I can sit still for hours. Joe fidgets and it drives me crazy sometimes.  Just sit still!!  He has trouble sitting through a movie at the Cineplex and I quit buying tickets for any live performances. I am an expert at planting my butt. One might think I took root!! 😉

Thanks for stopping by today!
Happy Saturday (it IS Saturday?)

Peace & hugs!!

  1. Yes, thank you for the reminder, It IS Saturday! I am constantly having to remind myself what day it is. Every day just seems like it should be Friday or Saturday. Not having church on Sunday (even though we do have online church) still throws me off into not realizing it is really Sunday, and there goes the rest of the week. Oh well, this too shall pass. Great answers. I probably liked the Flintstones a little better than the Jetsons. (Maybe because Wilma was a redhead) (but then again, maybe Mrs. Jetson was too?) And I keep waiting for the Jetsons' flying cars to happen. I always wanted to be able to just rise up and fly above the traffic! LOL. Wow, I didn't know you've lost 50 lbs. since retirement! That is wonderful! I am sure it helps you to feel better too, and will help with your knee surgery healing as well. Great job!! As far as sitting still goes, I do sit still better than I used to...maybe too well. I have to remind myself to get up and walk around more often or I get really stiff and sore. I could sit and read a book for hours on end (literally!) if I didn't have to get up and pee occasionally! LOL> Ok, enough...have a great Saturday!!

  3. I loved Spanky and Our Gang, too, as well as the Flintstones and Jetsons. Great to walk with you down memory lane today, Terri!
    Blessings!

  4. I don't get car racing either. Watching cars drive around a track bored me.
    Have a great weekend!

  5. Like you, I can sit still for long periods. Tom's new Apple watch tells him when he's been sitting too long! LOL

And on the subject of learning from our failures (or negative experiences), that happened to me again just days ago. It was very painful but I'm wiser for the experience. So all in all, it was a good thing.

  6. Oh, I loved that song by Spanky and Our Gang. (In fact, I'm going to ask Alexa to play it when I get off here.) Were it not for my little 7-day pill keeper, not sure I'd know what day of the week it is, either!

  8. Those photos posted by classmates who live elsewhere can really make you want to go somewhere. I have a classmate who lives in Seattle and posts pictures of the outdoor markets, restaurants, bars, and scenery that make me really want to visit that city.
You are doing a great job at losing and keeping it off! Way to go!

  9. Oh Terri, I can picture you and Joe at the movies.lol Marvin is usually ok but this quarrantine has given him the heebie jeebies. I think he misses the gym, mens prayer breakfast and Romeos on Wednesdays. He loves routine. I do to but I adapt better. And yes, as a stitcher I can sit for hours.lol

  11. A couple summers ago, Tom Jones (remember him?) had an outdoor concert scheduled here in Boise. Tickets were $75---to sit on the ground! I decided that I didn't want to see him bad enough to sit on the hard ground in the sweltering heat. (He ended up getting sick and cancelling the concert.)

Gary is a race fan, but I can't watch with him. I don't get the point of driving around in circles. Seems like a waste of gas and a waste of rubber (tires) to me.

    Blessings,
    Patti
