Friday Photos...

We have had two days of nearly summer weather here in central Florida!  Highs in the low 80s and lows in the high 60s.  Last evening, however, the wind started to blow!! Bridges in Tampa were closed to traffic, after-school activities were canceled and a cold front is coming through over the next couple of days.  Wicked weather (for us).

But, we had lovely weather for our trip to the farm (Joe's client) on Wednesday morning!

We arrived to one cow on the lane.  She was all alone, as far as we could see.

We arrived at the stables to find the Ferrier there working on the horses hooves.
Doc was waiting for his turn, so he got some carrots.

Vanna was in the stable next to Doc so she got a few carrots.

Majesty was on the other side of Doc and was being naughty eating
from the bale of hay.  He also got some carrots and the hay got moved.

Bad boy Pistol was getting his mani-pedi and Aronel was watching.
She is the ranchhand who feeds and cares for all of the animals.

Doc was out of his kennel and got lots of treats. Such a sweet face.
Roho was still in his kennel but got his share of snacks too.
The 'littles' were all in the house so I didn't see them.

On the way out, there were cattle everywhere. We always wonder
where they were hiding as we came in...

Hard to see but there are two little babies on the left bottom of this picture.
One is black and the other is mostly white.

Our small church group meeting Wednesday night was a blessing. I wrote about that yesterday.  Also yesterday, Joe had his orthopedic appointment about his shoulder (5/6 weeks late).  We liked Dr. Wicks.  He did not require an MRI but with the examination and the x-ray from a month ago he said Joe likely has a tear in his rotator cuff (for which they will do nothing) and that there is a lot of arthritis.  The "frozen" shoulder was due to arthritis and complicated by Joe's diabetes.  Age, arthritis, and diabetes make this malady a common complaint.

Dr. Wicks prescribed a steroid cream that Joe can use topically if it happens again to help with the pain.  Joe is okay with this diagnosis and is doing okay right now.  As it turns out, I probably could have had my surgery at the end of January, but we didn't know it would only be a couple of weeks for him to start getting better.  When I canceled everything, Joe couldn't dress or get up from any sitting position by himself.  We had no idea how long he would need that much help.  And now, with my hip hurting like it does, I'm glad I'm not dealing with my left knee as well.  Everything happens the way it is supposed to happen.

Today I am cleaning the house, doing laundry, and prepping for our dinner guests tomorrow night. No appointments for a change this week!

Thanks for your visit!!

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  1. It looks like another lovely day at the farm. I'm glad you are able to go along with Joe and enjoy the critters. I'm glad Joe's shoulder won't require surgery...sorry, though, that it will probably be an ongoing thing. Every time I have something x-rayed they tell me there is a lot of arthritis so I imagine I am going to know all about these kinds of things one day. Enjoy your day at home getting ready for company!

  4. So glad Joe does not need surgery. I think knee surgery later is better Terri. I truly believe God orders our steps. How is your new knee doing? Hope it is helping you walk better!

    1. Arlene, the new knee is just fine and works well, but my right hip (same side) is causing the pain now, so I'm not really enjoying the new knee right now.

  5. Lovely photos, as always, Terri! And so happy with the good news for Joe. Anytime surgery can be avoided, it's a blessing.
    Have a great weekend!

  6. Well, Joe's diagnosis sounds like a mixed bag. So glad surgery's off the table, but hurting the way y'all are has to be discouraging. (Praying!) A number of years ago -- out of the blue -- I developed frozen shoulder. The worst pain I can ever recall having experienced. I could not dress myself. I'd lay my blouse out on the bed and slither into it. The steroid shots finally did the trick; hope that cream does the same! HUGS!

    1. Dr. Wicks said a true frozen shoulder takes at least a year to get better, so we were glad that wasn't Joe's diagnosis - even though it felt frozen to him.

  7. It sounds like you are getting all your ducks in a row and gathering the needed information.
Do you ever watch Dr. Pol. I just started and I am so addicted. When I see those farm animals I think of him.
How do those animals take that Florida heat?

    1. It is all they know, Sandie. They have trees for shade and shelter. The worst thing in the summer is the little flies that gather on the horses. They get spray (like bug spray) that helps and sometimes a mask over their eyes.

  8. Ohhhhhhh I know all about the rotator cuff (my husband) and he told them no on the surgery. Poor Joe...

Thank you for the nice, somewhat warm photos, grin. smiles

  10. Well I'm glad that Joe isn't going to have to have surgery. I hope the doctor's prescribed treatment works well for him.

Since Gary's dad still lives in Florida, we are always keeping up on the weather down there. We had heard about the fierce storm of yesterday. Had to touch base with him.

  11. Thanks for sharing the report on Joe's shoulder. I'm sorry he's had this and am glad he's better than he was.

We are learning from each other, so when you share these things, it's helpful.
