The Champion
Saturday 9: The Champion (2018)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This song is about doing what it takes to win. What's the most recent competition you won? (Yes, online solitaire counts.) Then I guess it would have been an online solitaire game.
2) The lyrics tell us to "go ahead and put your bets on me." Do you often play games of chance -- like the office football pool, or slot machines, or the lottery? It has been years. We don't even buy lottery tickets anymore.
3) The video includes footage of young people competing in the Special Olympics. What's your favorite sport to watch? I don't really have a "favorite" but will watch football, hockey, and college basketball. Is it the same sport you most enjoying playing? I don't enjoy playing any sports, anymore.
4) This week's featured artist, Carrie Underwood, first came to America's attention when she won on American Idol. Prior to competing on that show, she'd never been on an airplane. How old were you when you took your first flight? In my 20s I went up with my brother in a single-engine plane he was piloting. I was in my early 30s before I flew on a commercial airline.
5) Carrie loves horror and her favorite author is Stephen King. What book are you currently reading? I am reading a Cozy Mystery that I don't even remember the name of. It is about three sisters who solve mysteries. Their names are Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme. I know. I know.
6) Carrie's duet partner on "The Champion" is rapper Ludacris. In addition to making music, he acts and has appeared in one Sam's favorite shows, Law & Order: SVU. What's your favorite "cop show?" Chicago PD
7) Ludacris is a distant cousin of comedian Richard Pryor. Have you studied your family's genealogy? Yes, indeed. Quite extensively, back to the early 1600s. I am also a member of D.A.R.
8) Soccer was a big deal in 2018, the year this song was released. According to Google, "FIFA World Cup" was the news story that generated the most internet searches. What's the last thing you "googled?" How to find a WPS PIN on my printer so I could re-load it.
9) Random question: You're battling the flu. The doctor advises you to stay in bed for a full five days. As you begin feeling better (around Day 3), do you continue to follow doctor's orders? Probably not. Or do you get up and start moving before you're supposed to? Of course, I get up and start moving before I am supposed to. I drove the car two weeks before I was supposed to when I had my knee surgery.
Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's questions! You can join in HERE.
Thank you for your visit! Peace & hugs! God bless!!

I think I'm better at listening to doctor's orders these days, but when I was younger, well.... Tim left for a mission trip to Haiti a day and a half after I had gallbladder surgery. I didn't have a choice. I started driving right away and was up on a ladder painting within 2 or 3 days. I'd never do that these days.
ReplyDeleteI feel old. I have not a clue about the music!! Give me the oldie moldies!! :) . Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteHmm...I think I have read that book and I actually have ordered cozy Christmas mysteries from the library, which should be in about 2 weeks, just in time for my break, smiles.
ReplyDeleteAbout not following doctor's orders closely, you had some truly difficult circumstances with your knee surgery and Joe's procedure. It was a blessing to see how the Lord brought you both through that entire time.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, dear friend!
Yes indeed, Barb! I know how blessed we were and still are!! What a journey that was!
DeleteI wonder if doctors don't 'pad' their recommended rest times, since they figure most of their patients won't comply? :) Love Chicago PD!
ReplyDeleteI don't follow doctor's orders either. Hey I have a hard time thinking about Carrie Underwood loving horror movies - is that just me?
ReplyDeleteUnlike most of the people who answered, I follow my doctor's orders to the T. If she says 5 days in bed, then I am in bed for 5 days. I always figure the doctor knows best.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteI remember when she was on American Idol.
ReplyDeleteI hate horror movies!
I think we get better faster if we keep moving, so I never stay in bed. :)
I will fly, if necessary, but I don't like it, I must admit. I will follow the doctor's orders if I think my situation warrants it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Terri, and sorry to be so late to the party!
